Disney Cruise Line Guests Celebrate New Ship Announcements Onboard the Disney Magic

Did you hear the news? Yesterday, we announced that we are building not one… but two… brand-new, beautiful Disney Cruise Line ships!

There was no better place to celebrate than with our guests onboard the Disney Magic, our first ship. Take a look at yesterday’s very special Sail Away Party – and look closely, you just may recognize a few familiar Disney faces.

I hope you’re as excited as we are about our new ships and the many new Disney Cruise Line adventures to come! I can’t wait to share more with you at a later date, but what I can tell you now is that the Walt Disney Imagineering team is already dreaming up exciting new innovations that will be uniquely fun and distinctly Disney. Each new ship will be approximately 135,000 gross tons – slightly larger than the newest Disney Cruise Line ships, the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy – and each is currently planned to include about 1,250 guest staterooms. The fifth and sixth ships in our fleet will be completed in 2021 and 2023.

Be sure to stay connected to us for the latest Disney Cruise Line news.

  • SO thrilled! Gotta put this in the books for 2021! Loved that Clayton was on board the MAGIC to make this announcement! He was our cruise director on the first DCL ship we were on in 2012! He was such as awesome guy!!

  • The Sail Away Party is already so much fun, and I can imagine that the addition of this announcement on board the Magic was amazing. We’re looking forward to the new ships, with more to do and more to discover. Our family is taking our 1st gold cruise this year, and I’m predicting that we’ll be Platinum Castaway members by the time the first new ship launches in 2021. My kids have a few ideas for ship names, and it will be interesting to hear how close their predictions come to the final choices. 😉

  • So excited and ready for the maiden in 2021, just to keep in tradition with the last 4 ships maidens. Hopefully we will be up to almost 100 cruises by then and hope to make that maiden our 100th. We will finish this year sailing on cruise #75 in December(NYE) for my hubby’s 75th birthday so I have to get busy and make 24 more reservations till 2021!!!!! Love Clayton and have known him since he first started on DCL as a DJ way back in the day.

  • My family and I are SUPER THRILLED and cannot wait to see all that Disney Imagineering will be incorporating in these two new ships. We will be counting down the years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and seconds until we can board the two new Disney Cruise Line ships! In the meantime, we’ll be cruising again and again with Captain Mickey on the Magic, Wonder, Dream and Fantasy. Bon Voyage!

  • We have also sailed with Clayton two of our Disney voyages — once on the Fantasy, and just over a month ago on the Magic. Can’t wait to do the We’re-On-Vacation-Dance on the new cruise ships.

  • Hey, I totally recognize Clayton! We had him on a couple of Disney Cruises, including last years DVC Member Cruise to Alaska.
