Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is all about living your own Star Wars story. Will you choose an affiliation with the rebellious Resistance, or the intimidating First Order? Will you accomplish your secret mission as a smuggler, or your routine duties as a villager? For off-worlders visiting Batuu and dressing in attire befitting their stories, the current Disneyland Resort costume policy remains in effect in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
While costumes may not be worn by guests 14 years of age or older, appropriate bounding—dressing in outfits inspired by Star Wars—is permitted. The following guidelines will help you arrive to Batuu in style. Proper footwear must be worn.
Permitted attire includes:
- Bounding: piecing together traditional clothing items that when worn together, serve as a recognizable tribute to Star Wars characters
- Batuuan attire: wearing outfits inspired by the villagers of Batuu—muted tones, vests, layers, etc.
Not permitted attire includes:
- All robes or military-style attire
- Masks, face paint, elaborate headwear, blasters or holsters (lightsabers are allowed) or hard items such as body armor, helmets or kneepads
- Full character suits
Please note some of the items sold in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge cannot be worn inside the land. We look forward to seeing you dressed in your Batuuan best!

I went to Galaxy’s Edge disney bounding as Kylo Ren Because i had a Kylo Ren costume t shirt with a cape on the back of the shirt and went down to my waist and i had black jeans on and that was ok because i never got turned away by security or no one is Galaxy’s Edge everyone knew i was part of the first order plus when i bought the Sith Robe and tunic the cast member had said oh your already on it for dressing Star Wars because she knew i was dressing up as Kylo Ren
I agree with Scott on June 14. The couple and the last dude definitely look more like full-on costumes than bounders.

Correct and if your costume isn’t impressive enough you’ll be turned away. Probably best not to bother. (Yes, I’m just trying to make sure I don’t have to wait in super long lines when I visit)

Can we please get some official clarification on this? You have examples of what is acceptable attire here, and then security is turning people away that are wearing exactly what you have pictured as “approved”.
I was turned away at security today wearing one of the “approved” outfits. I’m not sure how to contact the author of this article or how to post a picture, but I was wearing the same jedi tunic, and belt as pictured. Why did this happen?
We’re dressed in tunics like the gentleman in the third photo over and have been stopped by security. The really great line manager let us in but we still might get bounced by Galaxy’s Edge team. I would NOT dress in the “approved” pics unless you want to get turned around. This post is very misleading.
Isn’t the point is to ensure visitors aren’t confused for cast members? Because two of the permitted outfits look significantly more like costumes than the woman just wearing a robe.
What about Princess’s Leia’s Bikini?
So question: will we be able to wear the jedi tunics available for purchase without the robes? Because that’s all that some of those “bounding” outfits are.
