posted on January 18th, 2014 by Charles Stovall, Public Relations Manager

Disney Parks is sponsoring a new, original AOL-mom.me web series starring Emmy-winning Actor/Director/Comedian/Voice Artist Hank Azaria called “Fatherhood.”

Hank1

An exploration of the realities and hilarities of being a father in the new millennium, Hank started the series by interviewing some of his funniest friends about their experiences as fathers and what “fatherhood” really means to them. And, as fate would have it, part of the way through filming, Hank found out that he was going to become a father himself!

We caught up with Hank while filming the last segment in the series at Walt Disney World Resort during the holidays. He told us about his own experiences as a new father and some of the fun he and his family have had at Disney Parks.

Hank’s AOL Original Video Series ‘Fatherhood,’ sponsored by Disney Parks, will launch exclusively on AOL and mom.me on January 15, 2014. “Fatherhood” is part of AOL’s continuing investment in premium original content, which includes a new slate of original web series that have been premiering on the AOL On Network, AOL’s premium video platform and across their 1,700 partner sites throughout the fall and winter. HGTV and DIY Network Stars ‘Crash’ The 2014 Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival

posted on January 14th, 2014 by Charles Stovall, Public Relations Manager

You could say that this year’s Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival will be a “crash”-ing good time.

Sponsored once again by our friends at HGTV, they have filled the festival with tons of HGTV and DIY Network experts – including most of the stars we HGTV/DIY insiders call “The Crashers.”

FGF983261THUMB FGF983262THUMB

The Crashers, for those uninitiated into HGTV/DIY fandom, are HGTV/DIY expert designers and contractors who comb home improvement stores for people who need renovation help. Then – in just three days, mind you – they (with an expert crew of helpers) make over the family’s yard, bathroom, kitchen or whatever. Crashers making their very first appearance at this year’s festival are Matt Blashaw from “Yard Crashers,” Matt Meunster from “Bath Crashers” and Alison Victoria from “Kitchen Crashers.” Very exciting!

HGTV/DIY favorites at this year’s festival include Vern Yip, one of the judges of “Design Star,” Florida’s own David “Color Splash” Bromstad and John Gidding from “Curb Appeal.” Also new to this year’s festival are “Renovation Raiders” star Amy Matthews and Chip Wade, who started with Gidding on “Curb Appeal” and now has his own hit show called “Elbow Room.”

Here’s the list (everything subject to change, of course):

  • March 7-9 – Vern Yip, “Design Star”
  • March 14-16 – Chris Lambton, “Going Yard”
  • March 21-23 – Matt Blashaw, “Yard Crashers”
  • March 28-30 – Matt Meunster, “Bath Crashers”
  • April 4-6 – Taniya Nayak, “House Hunters on Vacation”
  • April 11-13 – Amy Matthews, “Renovation Raiders”
  • April 18-20 – John Gidding, “Curb Appeal”
  • April 25-27 – David Bromstad, “Color Splash”
  • May 2-4 – Chip Wade, “Elbow Room”
  • May 9-11 – Genevieve Gorder, “Design Star”
  • May 16-18 – Alison Victoria, “Kitchen Crashers”

For more information on the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, check out disneyworld.com/flower and don’t forget to check back here on the Disney Parks Blog for updates throughout the coming months – both before and during the festival.

Hillsong United, MercyMe, Matthew West Set for Disney’s Night of Joy 2014

posted on September 12th, 2013 by Charles Stovall, Public Relations Manager

Well another Night of Joy event has come and gone. It was such a whirlwind!

Thank you to all our guests who attended; and, to those who couldn’t, we hope to see you next year.

During the weekend, we also let a few things slip about next year’s event.

Disney’s Night of Joy 2014 will be held Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6. Some of our favorite performers – like MercyMe and Matthew West – announced their return to Walt Disney World Resort and Magic Kingdom Park for next year.

And, I’m very excited to announce the addition of Hillsong United to our lineup for the very first time.

Hillsong United is a musical ministry powerhouse that started from a church in Australia, Hillsong Church has created outlets for their work around the world – even starting their first ministry in the United States in New York City a couple of years ago. Hillsong United, in their words, are “called to create a musical expression that is almost uncomfortable in its uniqueness,” with their mission to “write songs that awaken churches and individuals to the fact that we are redeemed and called into the story of God.”

Their latest record “Zion” debuted at Number Five on the Billboard Top 200 Album Charts and Number One on the Top Christian Album charts back in February 2013.

We caught up with Joel Huston, one of the worship leaders of Hillsong in New York City, where he and his wife recently had their first child, also named Zion. Joel talked with us about Hillsong’s history, his first visit to Walt Disney World Resort and what he hopes fans will see when Hillsong United hits the stage for Disney’s Night of Joy 2014.

2014 will mark the 32nd year for Disney’s Night of Joy, two nights where the best in Contemporary Christian music meets the fun and fantasy of the Magic Kingdom Park. In addition to their favorite Christian artists, guests can enjoy beloved Magic Kingdom Park attractions like Space Mountain, Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain – along with New Fantasyland, the largest expansion in Magic Kingdom history.

Keep checking back on the Disney Parks Blog for more information about Disney’s Night of Joy, where we will be announcing more exciting performers and will let you know when tickets go on sale.

Disney’s Night of Joy Artist Profile: Plumb

posted on September 4th, 2013 by Charles Stovall, Public Relations Manager

Only a few more days to get your tickets for Disney’s Night of Joy. We want to see you there!

Today’s blog post showcases an artist who is firmly rooted in the Christian music community yet has a huge mainstream profile.

Tiffany Arbuckle Lee, who goes by the single moniker of Plumb, has juggled a successful Christian music career with family responsibilities for more than a decade and a half. Her haunting voice is instantly-recognizable on such songs as “In My Arms” and “Cut.” And her latest single – the title track from her new album Need You Now – has been setting fire to Christian radio and the Billboard charts for more than a year.

But that’s just one side of the coin for Plumb. In some ways, her music has found more resonance with a mainstream audience, as some of her more famous songs have been remixed by top techo/dance/house producers and DJs such as Paul Van Dyk and Kaskade. Her music also has found its way into mainstream TV shows like “The Vampire Diaries” and “ER,” bringing Christian music to a huge new fan base that might never have heard it before or ever been exposed to it.

We caught up with Plumb at the KLOVE Fan awards in Nashville, and she told us about some of her family’s plans for their time at Walt Disney World Resort this week.

The complete line-up includes:

One-day tickets to Disney¹s Night of Joy are $55 plus tax in advance and $65 plus tax the night of the show (if available). Two-night tickets are $99 plus tax (advance purchase only) and group discounts are also available.

To purchase tickets or for more information about the event, visit www.nightofjoy.com.

Only a Couple More Days Until Disney’s Night of Joy 2013 – Do You Have Your Tickets Yet?

posted on September 3rd, 2013 by Charles Stovall, Public Relations Manager

Today’s Night of Joy blog post profiles a Night of Joy veteran – Matthew West.

Night of Joy 2013 will be Matthew’s fifth appearance and we’re so pumped to have him back this year.

Matthew has traveled a very unique path over the past couple of years. Songs on his last two studio records – The Story of Your Life and Into the Light – have been based on stories from fans. Matthew asked his fans to send him their stories and then holed himself up in a cabin to process the staggering amount of stories he received and then write songs for the records. And those stories have resonated with a ton of fans. His latest single – “Hello, My Name Is” – has dominated the Christian single charts and is currently still at Number One — for a record-breaking 16th consecutive week!”

Matthew is also an acclaimed song writer, co-writing hits not only for himself, but for folks like Rascal Flatts, Casting Crowns, Billy Ray Cyrus and Natalie Grant.

We caught with him at the KLOVE Fan Awards in Nashville a couple of months ago where he told us about how he and his kids plan for their trip to Disney and his epic journey through the last two records.

The complete line-up includes:

One-day tickets to Disney’s Night of Joy are $55 plus tax in advance and $65 plus tax the night of the show (if available). Two-night tickets are $99 plus tax (advance purchase only) and group discounts are also available.

Disney’s Night of Joy 2013 Artist Profile: Moriah Peters and For King & Country

posted on August 30th, 2013 by Charles Stovall, Public Relations Manager

Today’s Night of Joy blog post profiles two newcomers to Night of Joy stages: Moriah Peters and for King & Country.

At first, it might not seem like California-born beauty Peters and Aussie duo Joel and Luke from for King & Country wouldn’t have much in common. But, interestingly enough, even while we were with them for the KLOVE Fan Awards in Nashville this past June, Moriah and Joel were already planning an early July wedding! A huge congratulations to them; and we’re really looking forward to hosting the newlyweds at Night of Joy next month!

Moriah, one of the newest artists from the Provident Music Group, began writing songs at age 13 in a small town outside of Los Angeles and recently came to the wilds of Nashville to pursue her heart for Christian music. Her debut record, I Choose Jesus, showcases a breezy music style with very powerful lyrics. When we caught up with Moriah in June, she told us about coming to Night of Joy as a guest last year and some thoughts on her first Night of Joy performance, including a favorite Walt Disney World Resort treat that she’s already anticipating.

For King & Country brothers Joel and Luke are no strangers to the Christian music industry. Forming their own group in 2008, the two went through various artistic states and had some moderate success. That all changed last year with their latest record Crave and the single “Proof of Your Love,” whose haunting melodies and simple but profound lyrics struck a chord with Christian music audiences around the world. At the KLOVE Awards, we sat down with Joel – Luke was feeling under the weather that morning – and he told us about the origin of their band’s name and offered some great advice for our Night of Joy youth groups.

2013 marks the 31st year for Disney’s Night of Joy, two nights where the best in Contemporary Christian music meets the fun and fantasy of the Magic Kingdom Park. In addition to their favorite Christian artists, guests can enjoy beloved Magic Kingdom Park attractions like Space Mountain, Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain – along with New Fantasyland, the largest expansion in Magic Kingdom Park history.

Night of Joy at Magic Kingdom Park Artist Profile: TobyMac and Mandisa

posted on August 19th, 2013 by Charles Stovall, Public Relations Manager

Today on the Disney Parks Blog, we shine the light on two artists who are both good friends of each other and good friends of Night of Joy and Walt Disney World Resort: TobyMac and Mandisa.

Friends and collaborators for more than seven years, they continue to pop up on each other’s records, with Mandisa referencing Toby in her new single “Overcomer” and Toby using Mandisa on one of his biggest hits – “Lose My Soul.”

Making his ninth appearance at Disney’s Night of Joy 2013 (five as a solo artist and four with the Christian supergroup dc Talk), Toby is not only a successful artist in his own right; he’s also an accomplished producer and record exec – starting Gotee Records in 1994, breaking such prodigious artists like SONICFLOOd, Out of Eden and current Night of Joy performer Jamie Grace. The multiple Grammy® winner’s latest record Eye On It features hit singles like “Me Without You” and his current smash “Steal My Show.”

Toby and his wife Amanda juggle a hectic life with their five children with several charity outlets including the Camp Electric Run for Hope, where they host a weekend for fans to run in the Nashville Country Music 1/2 Marathon with proceeds going to Powered by Hope, a Nashville-based charity whose mission is to turn racial division, class segregation, and spiritual poverty into community, possibility, and hope. Toby also uses one of his favorite pastimes, playing golf, to help causes he believes in, playing in many charity tournaments throughout the year and hosting a golf camp for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Catching up with Toby during a full day of fan events at the KLOVE Music Awards, he talked about playing Nights of Joy past, especially what playing to youth groups means to him.

Mandisa is no stranger to Disney’s Night of Joy or Walt Disney World Resort, either.

In addition to performing at Night of Joy in 2008 and 2009, Mandisa also helped us open the American Idol Experience* attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, after her spectacular appearance on the popular music competition show.

She has had a HUGE year, with several number one singles and a special guest appearance on Good Morning America, to sing her hit “Good Morning” for Robin Roberts’ return. Her latest record “Overcomer” has toes already tapping with the title track as its first hit.

After starting/leading an impromptu mini-exercise session during a break at the KLOVE Music Awards in Nashville, Mandisa sat down with us to talk about her first time at Walt Disney World Resort and to offer some wisdom about her experience as a Christian.

Night of Joy 2013 at Magic Kingdom Park Artist Profile: Francesca Battistelli

posted on August 13th, 2013 by Charles Stovall, Public Relations Manager

Today’s blog post profiles a Central Florida original – Francesca Battistelli.

Night of Joy 2013 Artist Profile: Francesca Battistelli

Francesca grew up in the area and we gladly claim her as our own, even though she and her family live in Nashville now.

2013 will be Francesca’s fourth time playing Night of Joy – and her first time playing on the Cinderella Castle stage. Last year, Francesca’s record label (Word Records) and management team (Proper Management) surprised her with a gold record for her first album “My Paper Heart” – the first Contemporary Christian debut record to reach that honor since “Casting Crowns” debuted in 2003.

Like any working mother, Francesca juggles a rigorous work schedule – touring and recording – with a husband and two children. While working on her new album – due out later this year – Francesca released a deluxe version of the last record, “A Hundred More Years,” with a new single “Strangely Dim” – paying homage to the early American hymn “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.” We talked with Francesca in Nashville during a busy day of fan events at the KLOVE Fan Awards. She told about bringing her family to the park for Night of Joy and offered some advice for fans.

2013 marks the 31st year for Disney’s Night of Joy, two nights where the best in Contemporary Christian music meets the fun and fantasy of Magic Kingdom Park.
