Love is always in the air here at Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings, so it will come as no surprise that Valentine’s Day just may be my favorite holiday. Throw three incredible Disney Parks proposals in the mix and you had me at hello! Full of excitement, love and a few understandable jitters we’re celebrating my favorite holiday by sharing a few Walt Disney World engagements that took place just in time for Valentine’s Day. These grooms-to-be prove that true love really is the most powerful magic.
From carriage rides (can you say romantic?) to dining in Cinderella Castle, we’re honored to be the place so many couples make unforgettable memories and say “yes” each year. After all making wedding, honeymoon and engagement dreams come true is what we do.
This week, we had the honor and privilege of hosting Engage!15, a luxury wedding business summit, right here at the Walt Disney World Resort. This conference has been extra special for me as one of my very first leaders here at Disney was Rebecca Grinnals, co-founder of Engaging Concepts. She and Kathryn Arce are the masterminds behind this innovative, intensive conference that focuses on nurturing and igniting the entrepreneur in all of us.
There’s something about New York City in the fall – the leaves are turning, the air is crisp … and there’s tulle. Everywhere! Bridal fashion week takes over Manhattan and it’s a chance for designers to preview their spring collections. This year was extra special for us here at Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings because we added a new dress to our traditional eight Disney princess-inspired gowns line up – Elsa from Disney’s “Frozen.” A true modern day bride, Elsa is bold and daring while remaining regal and elegant. And she’s the only queen that could bring snow – yes, snow – to the runway for our fashion show finale!
The Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings gowns will be available starting January 2015 in Alfred Angelo retail stores and are offered in signature colors in addition to white and ivory.
We recently unveiled new technology at our Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings Showcase this past Saturday- and I couldn’t wait to share it with you! A wedding cake is probably the most significant confection you’ll ever eat (and buy) – so why not turn it into a living piece of art? With imagery that scrolls over icing like a mini movie, Walt Disney World Resort wedding cakes can now be transformed with fully customizable image mapping projection technology. Whether you want to showcase a photo slideshow, home video or your favorite quote fondant is refashioned into an enchanted canvas that is sure to impress. But don’t take it from me, check out the video below and see for yourself.
It’s time to “Let It Go” … down the aisle! We’ve teamed up with Alfred Angelo to create an Elsa-inspired bridal gown as part of the 2015 Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo bridal collection – and I couldn’t wait to share a sneak peek with you!
This high-fashion, conceptual sketch is an interpretation of Elsa’s signature “Snow Queen” dress featured in Disney’s “Frozen.” The ice blue softly flared sheath gown has been dramatically beaded to glisten like sunlight on fresh fallen snow and boasts a sweetheart neckline and dramatic Watteau train (a classic style that drapes from the shoulders to the floor). The gown will be available starting January 2015 at Alfred Angelo stores nationwide and specialty retailers worldwide.
Happy National Cake Day! I’m a bit of a cake cheerleader – my theory has always been that it’s somebody’s wedding somewhere so it’s my duty to help them celebrate. I think my fondness for the sweet treat has grown because I’ve seen the behind the scenes love that goes into creating a cake and how the finished product brings people together. It’s really not about the dessert at all – it’s about celebrating a milestone, birthday, promotion or the blending of two families.
In honor of today’s “holiday”, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite masterpieces created by our talented bakery teams. They are truly masters of their craft and have created everything from cupcake towers to over-the-top elaborate statement pieces costing well over $10,000. In fact, the team at Walt Disney World Resort goes through about 19,000 pounds of buttercream frosting and 1,200 quarts of fruit puree every year!
Can’t get enough cake? Pop on over to Ever After (we feature a new cake every Wednesday) or check out our brand-new cake gallery.
Bridal Market is one of my favorite times of the year – New York City is invaded with heaps of tulle, an abundance of statement jewelry and a whole lot of sparkle. It also happens to be a chance for us to unveil our newest gowns as part of the Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo Collection. So without further ado let’s let the runway do the talking!

June has always been a big wedding month. I remember attending more than my fair share of June weddings growing up. The weather is pretty, the sun is shining and there are vacations aplenty. In anticipation for a summer chock-full of wedding events, I’m sharing this fun-loving video of a couple who had a very special Bridal Portrait Session at Magic Kingdom Park. It doesn’t get more romantic than that!
We had the pleasure of working with Mariah Carey on the vision for her vow renewal for almost a year, and like most brides, she wanted to feel like a princess on her big day. We couldn’t think of a better place to commemorate five years of wedded bliss – and Roc and Roe’s second birthday – than at Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland park. It doesn’t get much more royal than that!
The evening started with a birthday party at Fantasy Faire fit for a mini prince and princess where guests were served everything from ‘mocktails’ to cotton candy. And of course no birthday is complete without cupcakes and a happy birthday serenade.
After the celebration, guests moved over to Sleeping Beauty Castle where the forecourt was dripping in 10,000 crystals and over 15,000 blooms imported from Holland, South America and France. Mariah arrived in regal style accompanied by her daughter Monroe in the Crystal Coach where they were met by Nick and Roc clad in matching Prince Charming outfits.
The reception was filled with toasts, a few rides on attractions and Nick spinning as the DJ. It’s safe to say this after-hours private event was straight out of a fairy tale and filled with love.
I love love. I love butterflies in your stomach, a commitment on your left ring finger and celebrating that ineffable feeling of affection. So much, in fact, that Valentine’s Day just may be my favorite holiday.
After speaking with Ed, having the The Raider Marching Band included in this moment seemed like a no-brainer. With the help of a few very talented high school students and the ballad “Can You Feel The Love Tonight,” Ed’s dream quickly took flight.
Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with your best friend, significant other or brand-new fiancée, may it be filled with love and romance!
