Happy National Cake Day! I’m a bit of a cake cheerleader – my theory has always been that it’s somebody’s wedding somewhere so it’s my duty to help them celebrate. I think my fondness for the sweet treat has grown because I’ve seen the behind the scenes love that goes into creating a cake and how the finished product brings people together. It’s really not about the dessert at all – it’s about celebrating a milestone, birthday, promotion or the blending of two families.
In honor of today’s “holiday”, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite masterpieces created by our talented bakery teams. They are truly masters of their craft and have created everything from cupcake towers to over-the-top elaborate statement pieces costing well over $10,000. In fact, the team at Walt Disney World Resort goes through about 19,000 pounds of buttercream frosting and 1,200 quarts of fruit puree every year!
Can’t get enough cake? Pop on over to Ever After (we feature a new cake every Wednesday) or check out our brand-new cake gallery.
Bridal Market is one of my favorite times of the year – New York City is invaded with heaps of tulle, an abundance of statement jewelry and a whole lot of sparkle. It also happens to be a chance for us to unveil our newest gowns as part of the Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo Collection. So without further ado let’s let the runway do the talking!

June has always been a big wedding month. I remember attending more than my fair share of June weddings growing up. The weather is pretty, the sun is shining and there are vacations aplenty. In anticipation for a summer chock-full of wedding events, I’m sharing this fun-loving video of a couple who had a very special Bridal Portrait Session at Magic Kingdom Park. It doesn’t get more romantic than that!
We had the pleasure of working with Mariah Carey on the vision for her vow renewal for almost a year, and like most brides, she wanted to feel like a princess on her big day. We couldn’t think of a better place to commemorate five years of wedded bliss – and Roc and Roe’s second birthday – than at Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland park. It doesn’t get much more royal than that!
The evening started with a birthday party at Fantasy Faire fit for a mini prince and princess where guests were served everything from ‘mocktails’ to cotton candy. And of course no birthday is complete without cupcakes and a happy birthday serenade.
After the celebration, guests moved over to Sleeping Beauty Castle where the forecourt was dripping in 10,000 crystals and over 15,000 blooms imported from Holland, South America and France. Mariah arrived in regal style accompanied by her daughter Monroe in the Crystal Coach where they were met by Nick and Roc clad in matching Prince Charming outfits.
The reception was filled with toasts, a few rides on attractions and Nick spinning as the DJ. It’s safe to say this after-hours private event was straight out of a fairy tale and filled with love.
I love love. I love butterflies in your stomach, a commitment on your left ring finger and celebrating that ineffable feeling of affection. So much, in fact, that Valentine’s Day just may be my favorite holiday.
After speaking with Ed, having the The Raider Marching Band included in this moment seemed like a no-brainer. With the help of a few very talented high school students and the ballad “Can You Feel The Love Tonight,” Ed’s dream quickly took flight.
Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with your best friend, significant other or brand-new fiancée, may it be filled with love and romance!
Broadway actor Corey Cott recently took a break from his lead role as Jack Kelly in Disney ‘Newsies’ to celebrate his nuptials to wife Meghan with a land and sea honeymoon aboard Disney Cruise Line and at Walt Disney World Resort. On their first date, Corey and Meghan quickly realized the passion they both shared for Disney, so a Disney’s Fairy Tale Honeymoon seemed like the perfect way to start their happily-ever-after.
Asked to describe their honeymoon in just one word, Meghan declared it “magical.”
There’s nothing I love more than a vow renewal – it’s a romantic reaffirmation of love after years of history together that often becomes a family affair. It’s the ultimate celebration to remind you that your better half has been alongside you through both thick and thin.
Nearly 10 years ago today, Wendie and Sean Cheyney said “I do” in the middle of the Walt Disney World Marathon at mile 10.5 – right in front of Cinderella Castle. And today, I’m delighted to share that they’re doing it all over again.
Whether you ran today’s race with your one true love, kindred spirit or friends and family congratulations to a job well done!
Bridal Fashion Week is one of my absolute favorite times of the year – it’s when the seasons start to change and the entire industry comes together to celebrate tulle, beading and a whole lot of sparkle. And this year was no exception, as we unveiled two new Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings gown collections by Alfred Angelo this past Friday. The Cinderella Diamond Collection stole the show with its five blue-hued gowns created in honor of the re-release of the animated classic earlier this year. They’re the perfect “something blue” for the modern bride. Front row seats are typically hard to come by during fashion week, but today I’m giving you an all access pass to see behind the scenes, on the runway and what it takes to pull off a fabulous event.

Fondant, frosting and floral – oh my! Cakes set the precedent for a wedding reception and are a chance for couples to express their personality, carry out a theme or even surprise and delight their guests. One of my favorite things about working for Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings is that we have some of the most talented pastry chefs in the world right at our fingertips, and we can offer couples the chance to make their every cake fantasy come to life. From groom’s cakes to cupcakes, our Bakery has you (and your stomach) covered.
So without further ado, I’ve tried my best to narrow down all the magnificent artistry I’ve seen over the years into my top ten favorites. Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too?
Most grooms know it’s all about the bride, but we’re seeing more and more men wanting a little piece of the spotlight on their big day too- rightfully so! Grooms want a voice so they still look (and feel) like themselves when saying “I do”.
Right now we’re seeing a lot of our guys choosing to forgo proper tuxes altogether and, instead, gift custom suits to their groomsmen. Since each suit is unique to the individual, groomsmen feel included in the big day and walk away with a practical gift they’ll wear again and again. Suspenders, geeky glasses and sneakers are still very in and a fun way to infuse personality without compromising a formal look.
Remember: whether you’re sporting a bright bow tie or fun boutonniere, it’s important you feel like yourself when walking down the aisle. After all, it’s your day too.
