24-Hour Event Merchandise Sparkles at the Disneyland Resort

posted on May 14th, 2015 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

There’s a number of reasons why I’m looking forward to May 22! First of all, it’s my mom’s birthday, so happy early birthday Mom! Not only that, it’s the exciting moment we have all been waiting for — the official kick-off to the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration! When you couple that with a 24-hour event and new nighttime spectaculars like the “Paint the Night” parade, “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” and “Disneyland Forever” fireworks, could it get any better? When I got a sneak peek at the artwork for the 24-hour event tees, “Being Up All Night Makes Me Dopey,” the answer was yes! Take a look, and I think you’ll agree.

Special Tip: Look for special glow-in-the-dark elements on the adult and youth tees.

Also debuting as part of the exciting event is a limited release pin.

tuytuy557662

Want more? Let me sweeten the deal — there will also be a specially created cupcake with the “Up All Night” logo. Our candy makers have been hard at work, creating delicious new confections in honor of the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration. Keep watching the Disney Parks Blog, because I’ll be sharing all of the details shortly.

Tees and pins will be available at:

Cupcakes can be found at:

It’s going to be an amazing celebration! Are you ready for it?

Humphrey’s Service & Supplies Sets Up Shop When Grizzly Peak Airfield Opens May 15 at Disney California Adventure Park

posted on May 4th, 2015 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

With so many exciting changes coming when the new Grizzly Peak Airfield opens May 15 at Disney California Adventure park, I bet you’re curious about the location formerly known as Fly n’ Buy. Wonder no more!

Humphrey’s Service & Supplies at Disney California Adventure Park

Humphrey’s Service & Supplies will be the “campers welcome” headquarters of Grizzly Peak – that type of small-town gas station, general store or “vacationer’s paradise” that you might find on a trip through California’s majestic Sierra Nevada mountains. The location is named for Humphrey the Bear, a scruffy, snack-loving bear who appeared in several Disney animated shorts in the 1950s.

I recently had the opportunity to catch up with Walt Disney Imagineering show writer Carolyn Gardner, who had this to say about the new location: “Humphrey’s Service & Supplies is an homage to the roadside stops of the late 1950s and early 1960s when families packed up the station wagon and set out on vacation. My family took long trips like that, and in the summer, we rolled down all the windows because our station wagon didn’t have air conditioning. When we’d spot a gas station, dad would fill up the car and we kids would run to pick out a cold drink from the soda machine. First thing I’d do was put that icy cold glass bottle on my forehead and neck, just to cool off.”

Humphrey’s Service & Supplies will have all the ‘bear’ necessities you’ll need for a day trip, or even a hike through the Disneyland Resort. Happy campers will find gear for their Junior Rangers, as well fleece and hats, or if you’re more apt to ‘bear’ (or bare) your shoulders, there’s even a tank top. Hunting for more? Keep an eye out for camping essentials themed to the great outdoors including a thermos, lunchbox, lantern and card games.

Also opening with Grizzly Peak Airfield on May 15 will be Soarin’ Over California, with updates to its screen and projection system. Don’t miss this visually enhanced guest favorite!

New Cars Land Merchandise Debuts at Disney California Adventure Park

posted on April 16th, 2015 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

Are you running on empty when it comes to something new to wear? Then take a spin with me as we take a look at some of the new Cars Land inspired merchandise hitting the streets of Disney California Adventure park.

clldlr293847

When it came to the new look for the Cars Land logo merchandise, the teams took the term, ‘put some fire in it,’ quite literally. The flame details, along with the classic Cars Land logo on the adult and kids tees, hat and drinkware, adds heat to this red-hot collection. Not your speed? Gear for ladies and kids will have you racing to the finish line.

mgodlr281726

Cruising for something different? The Motorama Girls collection debuting soon will surely get you back to your ‘routes’ and looking sassy and classy for any day trip. Va-Va-Vroom!
mhodlr293847

This next item will get those wheels turning! Last but certainly not least … the new Mater novelty hat! I can attest that as we were photographing the hat, kids of all ages (those adults who stopped me know exactly who they are) were asking where and when they could get it. Can you ‘tow the line’ when it hits stores in the coming months?

Be sure to make Radiator Springs Curios, Ramone’s House of Body Art and Sarge’s Surplus Hut in Cars Land a stop on your next trip!

Which collection is your favorite?

Charming Additions to the ALEX AND ANI Disney Collection

posted on April 10th, 2015 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

Fans of ALEX AND ANI take note – there are quite a few styles headed to Disney Parks over the next couple of months. Start making your list … now!

WAP68904621

Up first are new additions to the Words Are Powerful collection, inspired by Disney sayings. These bangles will be available in Shiny Silver and Yellow Gold finishes. Whistle While You Work will debut April 13, followed by When You Wish Upon A Star on April 27, and then Believing Is Just The Beginning on May 4.

WAP68904622

Are you planning a trip during the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration? In late May, look for a bangle featuring Sleeping Beauty Castle with two accent charms – an oval D60 and blue Swarovski crystal. This will be available in a Rafaelian Silver finish. There’s also the Disneyland Forever bangle featuring a blue buffed epoxy charm with the words Disneyland Forever and two accent charms – an oval D60 and clear Swarovski crystal. This will be available in a Shiny Silver finish. Please note: These two bangles will not be offered online at this time.

WAP68904623

What better way to wrap this up than with actual ‘wraps?’ Similar to the Dream wrap that was recently released, in late May we will debut a Wishes wrap in green, a Believe wrap in teal, and in June, a Magic wrap in red.

Where can you plan to find all of these ALEX AND ANI bangles, wraps and more?

Disneyland Resort

Walt Disney World Resort

Tip: Limited quantities of the bangles and wraps shown above, except for the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration pieces, will be available online on or around the same dates as they debut at Disneyland and Walt Disney World merchandise locations.

Which pieces will you add to your collection?

Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration Dooney & Bourke Collection Coming Soon

posted on April 7th, 2015 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

Disney fans, I know you have been waiting patiently to get a sneak peek of the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration collection from Dooney & Bourke ever since we gave you a first look at all of the merchandise headed your way. Not only am I able to share the collection, debuting this May at the Disneyland Resort, but I also have your first look at what you can expect this July.

dbddlr204958

As you can see, the design for the May collection features an all-over pattern depicting classic attractions, icons and characters. I didn’t think it could get any better, but the teams added an extra touch of magic with tan leather accent trim and handles. While many of the silhouettes will be in limited supply, keep an eye out for varying styles such as a wristlet ($88), letter carrier ($178), satchel ($248) and shopper tote ($268).

If that wasn’t exciting enough, debuting in July 2015 will be an embossed leather collection. Take a look!

dbddlr203948

I love the detail that appears on the bag – for example, the diamond shapes that make up Minnie Mouse’s bow. Silhouette styles will include a wallet ($228), cross-body ($248) and zip satchel ($268).

Which collection has made your list?
