New Nostalgic Authentic Cars Land T-Shirts Debut at Disney California Adventure Park

posted on January 20th, 2014 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

If you find yourself cruising through Cars Land during your next visit to Disney California Adventure park, do what I did and make a pit stop at Radiator Springs Curios to check out the newest nostalgic authentic T-shirts that have hit the floor.

As you can see, the short sleeve T-shirt, in black is themed to Ornament Valley and features some of Radiator Springs most iconic ranges including Willy’s Butte, Piston Peak, Cadillac Range and Radiator Cap. The art on the long sleeve grey T-shirt (on the right) definitely appears a bit more distressed and gives you a glimpse at what seems to be the perfect view of Radiator Springs from Piston Peak. This T-shirt in particular hits home for me, as it’s definitely my dad’s speed, since he is a huge vintage car buff. So dad, if you’re reading this post, look away because I’m pretty sure you’ll be getting it as a gift shortly.

Here’s one more thing that might drive you a little crazy until you can get your hands on it. Take a sneak peek at two Cars Land D-Tech iPhone cases that will be appearing shortly in Radiator Springs.

Have you found any favorite nostalgic or authentic souvenirs on any of your road trips or journeys through Cars Land?

First Look at the Beautifully Disney Pop of Minnie Collection at Disney Parks

posted on January 17th, 2014 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

A homage to Mickey Mouse’s leading lady, the fifth collection from Beautifully Disney arrives at Disney Parks on February 8 and features our style icon Minnie Mouse. Channeling the vibrancy and mix of patterns of 1960’s Mod pop art, this line is all about adding color to classic looks that can change your appearance in an instant depending on your mood. Every detail of this collection, down to the pop art inspired packaging, puts a fun twist on a quintessential look. So whether you decide to channel Minnie’s flirty girly side, the glam fashionista or just want to show some serious sass, we have you covered. Let’s take a look!

Pop of Minnie brings splashes of color to the current line of Beautifully Disney products including eye shadow, nail polish and lip gloss that you’ve come to know and love. The eye palette features six new shades Downtown Mouse, A la Mode, Polka, I’m Seeing Dots, Oh My Bow! and Fa-Bow-Lous with which you can create countless looks.

You will also find four brand new nail colors available both individually and in a mini nail polish set. I had some fun with these new colors, and so did my colleague and friend Rachel Brent, as you are about to see.

Pop of Minnie also introduces four new lip gloss shades that provide sheer coverage and are definitely colorful, wearable, lightweight and moisturizing. Here’s a closer look!

For the first time, the collection will also offer a four piece set of mini lipsticks that are creamy, pigmented and pair perfectly with any lip gloss – the colors look great on all skin tones!

You can also look for brand new accessories to launch with the line – including an eyelash curler and brush set. There is also my personal favorite—the emery boards, a perfectly stylish way to keep your manicure in top shape. And to store all your accessories, be sure to check out the marvelously Minnie-inspired polka dot cosmetic bag.
New Nail Colors From Beautifully Disney Pop of Minnie Collection

Another really exciting addition to the Beautifully Disney collection debuting this Spring are character and non-character nail appliqués. These long wearing appliqués are available in three different design sets. So keep an eye out for them!

Quick Tip: Beginning February 4 through March 10, 2014, when you spend $50 (before tax, after discount) on Beautifully Disney cosmetics, you will have the opportunity to purchase a polka dot-inspired Kabuki brush for only $16.95 (actual retail $21.95), available while supplies last.

On February 8, take part in special Pop of Minnie launch events at Disney Vault 28 in the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort (1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and Tren-D in Downtown Disney Marketplace at Walt Disney World Resort (10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.).

For those of you who will be joining us for the launch on either coast, I encourage to embrace your Disney Side in your very own Pop of Minnie inspired attire. Use hashtag #DisneySide #PopofMinnie across our social channels, including Twitter, Vine, Google+ and Facebook, and if you tag your Instagram photos using #DisneySide, we may just share them on our @Disneyland and @WaltDisneyWorld Instagram feeds or on DisneySide.com!

Last but not least, in the coming months, continue to follow us the Disney Parks Blog and via Twitter @DisneylandDTD and watch for special tips and tutorials on Beautifully Disney products!

Keep Warm and Look Cool at the Disneyland Resort

posted on January 14th, 2014 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

For all of you Disney fans here in California, you are probably like me and are sometimes at a loss of what to wear. The calendar says winter is officially here and yet, it’s definitely ringing true to a California winter! In my experience, that feels more like a cross between spring and summer. However you know that it cools down quite a bit at night and that winter chill slowly creeps up on you and before you know it … you’re cold. So how can you plan on keeping warm but still look cool while visiting the Disneyland Resort or while watching some of our nighttime parades and spectaculars? It’s easy… here are a few top choices and quick tips.

Consider what we call the Disneyland 55 Authentic hooded jacket which comes in navy blue and charcoal grey. The navy blue one features Mickey Mouse on the back, while the charcoal grey features Grumpy. Look for them at Disney Clothiers and Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland park; World of Disney in the Downtown Disney District; and Elias & Co. in Disney California Adventure park.

Another way to stay warm and cozy is to snuggle up with one of our fleece throws. I especially like the design featuring Snow Car, available at Radiator Springs Curios and the Radiator Springs Racers throw which features elements, icons, and characters from the attraction, and is available now at Ramone’s House of Body Art and Sarge’s Surplus Hut.

Quick Tip: Purchase this Disneyland Throw for only $19.95 when you spend $40 (before tax, after discount) or more in merchandise at participating Disneyland Resort locations. Check it out!

The special offer is taking place right now at locations throughout the Disneyland Resort including Disney Showcase, Emporium, Gag Factory, Pioneer Mercantile and Star Trader in Disneyland park; Gone Hollywood and Oswald’s in Disney California Adventure park; and World of Disney Store in the Downtown Disney District as well as Disneyland Resort Hotel stores.

If you are looking for something that is more your cup of tea, maybe this will work. Plan on taking home some of our Disney Wonderland Tea. It’s the ‘Official Unbirthday Tea’ you can enjoy all year round. Enjoy flavors like Earl Grey, Lemon Chamomile, Blueberry, Mad Tea Party Blend, Mango and Pomegranate.

Hot cocoa is more my speed, so if you’re lucky enough to come across some, be sure to add it to the mix.

Quick Tip: Remember to use your Disneyland Resort Annual Passholder merchandise discount whenever applicable.

Are there any jackets, throws, or accessories that top your list or you never leave home without while braving the cold?

2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Returns with New Merchandise at Disneyland Resort

posted on January 13th, 2014 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

The 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon returns to Anaheim, Calif., January 16 – 19, 2014. I know many of you are pumped up for your first race of the New Year, and I’m here to make sure you do it in style. Here’s your first look at this year’s logo, which will appear on a multitude of merchandise items. Of course, I had to go to a few of my resident experts whom I know have run many a runDisney event … you might even recognize some of them. Here are some of our favorites, I can’t wait to see what you pick!

Top choices this year include our Half Marathon themed apparel including long and short sleeve T-shirts, performance T-shirts, tanks, a fleece hoodie and of course the ever popular ladies jacket. I asked good friend and fellow Disney Parks Blog author Erin Glover her thoughts on the ladies T-shirt and jacket, and here’s what she had to share (as you can see she really got into it, literally), “I love the sparkles on the front of the shirt,” said Erin, “it’s like it’s already been sprinkled with pixie dust. And there’s no need to add your own wings because it comes with a pair already, right on the back!” That’s right! Keep an eye out as you’ll actually find ‘Flutter to the Finish’ screened on the back of several of our apparel items.

Social Media Community Manager Lisa Kanazawa, says and I quote, “I want it all!” and even offered a few tips on how you can feel your best in your race day outfit! “Everyone has a different preference on what they like to wear on race day, but don’t be afraid to go outside of the norm and dress up based on the theme for each race you participate in. For example, you can easily create a Tinker Bell or fairy inspired costume for Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend events by accessorizing your race day outfit with a pair of wings and a new runDisney tutu!”

A few more items you can expect to find this year include an Inaugural Tinker Bell 10K T-shirt and what I think will be one of the hottest choices around, the 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Event T-shirt. What I love most about this particular T-shirt is that on the back it says ‘Earn Your Wings’ and showcases some of the medals.

Other items to race in for include Vinylmation, plush, a runner’s hat, Disney pins, magnets, headbands, a mug, stemmed glassware, tumbler, water bottle and toothpick holder.

Joanna Pisanski from Store Operations definitely had her eye on a few things, including the water bottle to keep her hydrated during the race and the commemorative mug, which she says has become a tradition of getting since she and her family started running the races together. Check it out!

Those of you continuing your Coast to Coast tradition will not be disappointed. 2014 Coast to Coast Race Challenge performance T-shirts as well as other essential runDisney gear are bound to fly off the shelves.

I know many of you are probably wondering what the Dooney & Bourke bags will look like. Wonder no more, here’s a special sneak peek!

If you are looking for other ways get into the racing spirit, how about our Pixie Power transformation – which will be available at the Expo and at Studio Disney 365. Let’s just say the look will make you feel like you have been given wings to fly. Also taking place over the Half Marathon weekend at WonderGround Gallery is a special Art Attack with artists J. Scott Campbell, John Coulter and Noah, who will be showcasing some of their latest works, themed to none other than Tinker Bell herself.

Finally, take part in special online opportunity to purchase an Inaugural Tinker Bell 10K T-shirt in lavender and “I Did It” T-shirt in navy, which will vary slightly from those sold at this year’s Expo, some of the Coast to Coast Race Challenge T-shirts, plus the 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Event T-shirt. Find them online January 20 – 27, 2014 via www.DisneyStore.com/ParkEvents.

Find out all the details about the Tinker Bell Half Marathon, the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend Expo taking place at the Disneyland Hotel and more at runDisney.com. For those of you contemplating getting a new pair of new running shoes, be sure to check out the 2014 limited edition New Balance runDisney running shoes that Disney Parks Blog author Robert Hitchcock recently shared details about. They’re beyond cool!

To all of you participating in the race, I wish you all the best of luck!

Rush In to Rushin’ River Outfitters at Disney California Adventure Park Today!

posted on January 9th, 2014 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

Happy New Year Disney fans! Have you found what best represents your Disney Side yet?

While out and about over the holidays, I explored the wet and wild wilderness side of Disney California Adventure park. Currently topping my list of “must-do” attractions is Grizzly River Run! As you can see I could “bear”-ly contain my excitement and I had to stop in to Rushin’ River Outfitters! What kind of visit is it without a shopping trip?

Most of you probably know someone or have friends who love to fish, hunt, bike, hike, ski or simply just enjoy the outdoors. If that’s the case, this is one location you’ll want to map out to explore on your next visit. The merchandise is themed to the surrounding atmosphere and attraction.

Inside you’ll find everything from Pendleton button down shirts to T-shirts and fleece by Element, and more.

Check out these vintage novelty signs that will give your own home that lodge-like feel.

Or perhaps these furry friends will float your boat.

January Brings a New Gourmet Apple Treat Your Way at Disneyland Resort

posted on December 12th, 2013 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

For those of you who love our delicious and oh-so-sweet gourmet apples, here is a new one to add to your list during your visit to Disneyland Resort!

I have no doubt in my mind that this is going to be by far one of the most popular apples around. Yes, I’ll admit, I got a sneak preview and taste test of this one. When it comes to combining apples, caramel, peanut butter and chocolate cookie sandwiches, the only question I have is, where do I line up?

Yes, you read that right! This particular apple has been covered in caramel, rolled in crushed chocolate sandwich cookies and drizzled with peanut butter. The one word I can use to describe it … perfection! It could be because I’m a fan of each of those elements, but I’m telling you right now, you haven’t tasted anything like this. Take a look!

Look for it beginning January 1 at Candy Palace on Main Street, U.S.A., in Disneyland park; Trolley Treats on Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure park; and Marceline’s Confectionery in the Downtown Disney District. Are you ready? Or do you have a different favorite gourmet apple?

Award-Winning Producer Jerry Bruckheimer Set to Appear at Disneyland Park

posted on December 6th, 2013 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

For a gal who studied Communications and Film throughout her college years, you can probably imagine that nothing thrills me more than to share the following news with all of you. Multi-award winning producer Jerry Bruckheimer will be joining us on December 14 at Disneyana Shop on Main Street, U.S.A., for a special signing from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. of “Jerry Bruckheimer: When Lightning Strikes | Four Decades of Filmmaking,” authored by Michael Singer.

This visually-arresting coffee table book showcases 40 years of Jerry Bruckheimer’s career in movies and television, including such blockbusters as “Top Gun,” “Beverly Hills Cop,” “Armageddon,” the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films as well as TV’s “CSI” shows and “The Amazing Race.”

The stories behind his films and television shows are revealed through insightful text written by Michael Singer, who has worked beside the producer in deserts, on tropical islands and at every conceivable filming location in between. The images that accompany the text tell their own tales of directors, actors and writers coming together with Bruckheimer to create films, characters and screenplays that have become iconic, beloved and oft-quoted.

With a foreword by Johnny Depp, an exclusive interview with Bruckheimer’s wife, Linda, and an introduction by Bruckheimer himself, this comprehensive and stunning volume is an actualization of the impact Bruckheimer has had on the spheres of film, television, and pop culture. It is clear that the inspiring lightning bolt of his company logo has struck a chord time and again, and it is sure to continue doing so well into the future.

How It Works!

Purchase the “Jerry Bruckheimer: When Lightning Strikes | Four Decades of Filmmaking” book, beginning Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Disneyana in Disneyland park, while supplies last and receive a voucher to return for the signing experience.

Window Shopping at Disney Parks Around the World: Celebrate the Holidays

posted on December 4th, 2013 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

Are your bags packed? Because this latest window shopping post is all about discovering the magic of the holidays around the world.

Season’s Greetings! Mele Kalikimaka Shirts From Aulani Season’s Greetings! Mele Kalikimaka Shirts From Aulani

Are you celebrating your holidays with us at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa? To get in the spirit of the season while you’re there, I’d recommend our Season’s Greetings! Mele Kalikimaka tees featuring Mickey Mouse. They come in both adult and kids sizes and make a great gift for the whole family.

If you’re like me, I’m partial to holiday ornaments. I won’t even begin to tell you how many I have. Not only do they make great decorations, but they become keepsakes that can often signify a special trip, experience or moment to treasure forever. For the best selection of ornaments, stop by Kālepa’s Store and Hale Manu to pick up one to commemorate your trip. I’m excited to see what you’ll choose, so let me know!

While I can take a Hawaiian holiday just about any day, it’s time for us to take flight and head over to Hong Kong Disneyland to visit my good friend Fion Lai and see what she has in store for us. “Christmas is a largely celebrated and festive season in Hong Kong,” said Fion. “There are over 110 Christmas collectibles available at Hong Kong Disneyland. You’ll find a range of specially themed merchandise, including warm winter wear featuring some of our beloved Disney friends, an assortment of exciting toys, including this year’s Mickey and Minnie plush in their Christmas attire, limited edition pins as well as sweets and treats, like delicious cookies, which are sure to delight!”

Hong Kong Disneyland Holiday Personalized Ornaments Hong Kong Disneyland Holiday Phone Cases

I asked Fion what one of her favorite holiday gifts would be and here’s what she shared. This year, you can add a name or personal message to an enchanting range of unique Disney Christmas ornaments or choose from new festive Disney designs for the holiday season at “D-Tech Yourself.” It’s so fun for our guests to customize a smart phone or tablet case with names or phrases that truly make it a unique gift.”

Disneyland Paris Minnie Holiday Ornament Disneyland Paris Mickey Holiday Ornament

Time to keep moving! Our last window shopping stop for the day, Disneyland Paris! I had a chance to chat briefly with Product Developer, Regis Alart who gave me all of the inside scoop on what we could expect to find as we celebrate Joyeux Noel. “This year our Entertainment and Merchandise departments have teamed up to tell a new holiday story,” said Regis. “Guests can now decorate their trees with ornaments inspired by the ones featured on the new 78 foot tall Christmas tree that stands proudly in Town Square.”

“This same tree is the center piece of this year’s artwork which you will find on a variety of holiday items,” Regis shared. “Indeed, the scene is set in the very heart of Main Street, U.S.A. with a view that faithfully depicts the various decorations it dons during this cheerful season.”

“New this year and a top holiday pick for me”, said Regis, “is the Disneyland Paris Poster Series. There are over 25 different attraction and restaurant themed posters to choose from on our Art on Demand Kiosk at The Disney Gallery in Disney Village.”

I don’t know about you, but I’m exhausted. This virtual jet lag is really getting to me! No matter where you celebrate around the world, happy holidays!
