Happy New Year, Disney Fans!!

Now that the holidays are over, it’s time to get back in the swing of things. So what’s coming your way? Well, let’s take a quick look and bring you up to speed, so that you don’t miss a beat on either coast.

On January 4, Disney Design Group Principal Graphic Designer Dave Keefer will be appearing at D Street in the Downtown Disney Marketplace from 5-7 p.m. I’d tell you more, but Steven Miller has all the details on this exciting collection of new poster-inspired artwork, which highlights the luckier side of 2013. Tip: Continue to watch for additional artist meet and greet events taking place throughout the year.

About halfway through the month, the streets will be packed with runDisney participants taking part in the 20th Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, so after you cross the finish line, be sure you swing by D Street on January 13 from 5-7 p.m. to have this year’s runDisney Mickey Mouse Vinylmation signed by Disney Design Group Artist Maria Clapsis. That brings us to January 18 and 19. Now, this particular artist needs no introduction. I’m sure most of you are familiar with his work, as it has been seen on a variety of Disney Theme Park Merchandise over the years. That’s why we’re excited to have Disney Design Group Senior Character Artist Monty Maldovan appearing at the Art of Disney in Downtown Disney Marketplace at the Walt Disney World Resort, from 6–8 p.m. each day. posted on December 17th, 2012 by Michelle Harker, Merchandise Marketing & Communications Project Manager, Disneyland Resort

Happy Holidays, Disney fans!

It’s been another great year filled with events, releases, promotions and so much more. Thank you for sharing the ride with me.

For those who have things “wrapped” or buttoned up for the holidays, I commend you. You would think as the shopping queen out here, I’d be a little further ahead but that’s not the case. So for all of you doing last-minute shopping like me, here are a few things you may want to consider.

Vintage Buena Vista Street Holiday Merchandise – Here’s a look at the art which appears on a variety of items including tees, fleece, ornaments, mugs, greeting cards, tapestry throws and more. Find them at Elias & Co. and Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure park.

Disney California Adventure Park Artwork Available for the Holidays

A few weeks ago I shared some of our holiday gear for Cars Land. If you haven’t made a pit stop at Radiator Springs Curios, don’t wait much longer – folks are racing for it.

Minnie & Mickey in Love Seatbeltbag from HARVEYS, Available at Disneyland Resort

New for the season from our friends at HARVEYS is the Minnie & Mickey in Love seatbeltbag collection. Buckle up and head over to Disney Vault 28 and the Fortuosity Shop and get ready for a great ride.

Sweet Holiday Treats Available at Disneyland Resort Sweet Holiday Treats Available at Disneyland Resort

Next on the list… A sweet Holiday treat, maybe? Then you’re in luck. Candy Palace, Marceline’s Confectionery and of course, Trolley Treats are filled with goodies for anyone with a sweet tooth. Holiday cupcakes, apples, peppermint break up and fudge are high on the list, but the true hidden gem this season is the gourmet marshmallows, flavored to peppermint and egg nog. Take this from a girl who isn’t typically a fan of egg nog … It’s incredible! Now, we can’t forget the famous candy canes made by our talented team of candy makers, that alone is a true holiday treat to watch.

Fellow Disney Parks Blog author Steven Miller recently shared some of this year’s best holiday deals and stocking stuffers tips. If you haven’t had the time to check out his post yet, be sure to set some time aside.

Wondering how you can find out more about other “must have” holiday gifts and deals? Well those currently following @Disneyland, @WaltDisneyWorld and @DisneyParks on Twitter know the trick, because we are right in the middle of our 25 Days of Tweets which offers a different gift item or holiday idea each day. How do you find these tweets? Simply look for #GiftDisney.

So get shopping, get wrapping, watch movies, sing carols, bake cookies and just enjoy the holiday time with your loved ones. After all, isn’t that what it’s all about?

Have a safe and happy holiday and I’ll see you here next year with a lot more exciting merchandise news to share!

Pick Your Side: Good vs. Evil at WonderGround Gallery in Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort

posted on November 30th, 2012 by Michelle Harker, Merchandise Marketing & Communications Project Manager, Disneyland Resort

The battle between good and evil has never been stronger. So the questions become … Who will rise to the challenge? Who will prevail? Only a peek inside WonderGround Gallery will reveal the ever-lasting rivalries of our fairytale world. Join us on December 15 for the launch of the “Good vs. Evil” exhibit, as we unveil interpretations of frightful and delightful characters by various artists. Our morning lineup of artists will feature J. Scott Campbell, Miss Mindy, Nei, Noah, Mike Stilkey, Sean Chao and Kristin Tercek from 9-11 a.m. But be sure to stick around, because Stephanie Buscema, Martin Hsu, Jacki Huang, Jerrod Maruyama, Ming Ong and Michelle Romo will be appearing from 1-3 p.m. that same day.

Here’s a hot tip: Heard from my villain friends that they will be featured on custom Vinylmation designed by some of the morning artists. Personally, I think those villains are just trying to butter me up. Either way, I’ll make sure to post more about the exhibit, product launches and signings in the coming weeks. Until then, here’s a look at a few images you will see as part of the “Good vs. Evil” exhibit:

What other excitement lies within these walls? Find out in December. What characters are you most excited to see? And will it make you choose sides between good and evil?

2012 Candlelight Ceremony Merchandise at Disneyland Park

posted on November 21st, 2012 by Michelle Harker, Merchandise Marketing & Communications Project Manager, Disneyland Resort

Here’s a little something I hope you will find illuminating. Debuting December 1 will be an assortment of commemorative merchandise created especially for the 2012 Candlelight Ceremony and Processional.
The 2012 Candlelight Ceremony and Processional at Disneyland Park

Look for this art featuring a Mickey Mouse-shaped graphic along with the Candlelight Ceremony logo on a tee, fleece, scarf, travel mug, disc ornament and tapestry-style throw. Those who purchase the tee will find themselves practically “glowing” – in the dark, that is. Can you guess which elements will actually glow?
Exclusive Ladies Shirt Design for the 2012 Candlelight Ceremony and Processional

Ladies, we have something extra special for you. This image, featuring a winter version of Sleeping Beauty Castle, will appear on a ladies v-neck tee, accented with a gold-tone foil embellishment on the tree. Look for a subtle nod to Mickey Mouse within the art.

Where will you be able to find these? Look for them at Disney Showcase, Emporium, Guide I, Newsstand and World of Disney.

Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for more updates on the holiday season at Disney Parks, and join the conversation on Twitter by using the hashtag #DisneyHolidays.

The Perfect Pair is Es’scent’ually Right Under Your Nose at Disneyland Park

posted on November 13th, 2012 by Michelle Harker, Merchandise Marketing & Communications Project Manager, Disneyland Resort

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and what better time to find the perfect fall fragrance to compliment all the wonderful scents of cider, cinnamon, nutmeg, citrus and of course… pumpkin pie? But have you ever wondered how fragrances can be paired with a delicious meal during the fall holidays? We did, and I think you’ll be surprised at what we discovered.

Givenchy’s Dahlia Noir Fragrance Available at Mlle. Antoinette’s Parfumerie in Disneyland Park

Givenchy’s Dahlia Noir is an elegant combination of fresh citrus and romantic rose with a hint of carnal amber and vanilla, perfect for ladies. It pairs exquisitely with lamb chops, braised chicken or grilled salmon alongside a Rose wine to perfectly compliment the fresh notes in this light, floral-fruity fragrance. Note: This particular pairing was a fan favorite among my fellow co-workers and partners in crime, Holly, Mary and Kassi.

Acqua di Parma Colonia Fragrance Available at Mlle. Antoinette’s Parfumerie in Disneyland Park

For the gentlemen, Acqua di Parma Colonia is an elegant choice distinguished by citrus top notes blended with spicy aromatic accents and woody base notes. Staying true to fall aromas, this fragrance pairs seamlessly with duck or chicken accompanied by your favorite red wine.

Now for my preferred part of the meal, dessert … and compatible with anything from an almond soufflé to a layered cake, lemon bars or pumpkin cookies, is a simply “Irresistible” fragrance of the same name by Givenchy, certain to end your night on the perfect note.

I hope these suggestions help you get started on hosting your own Fall Festival pairing with your friends. And if you do, let us know how it goes!

Stop by Mlle. Antoinette’s Parfumerie in New Orleans Square at Disneyland park and find the fragrance to best pair with your fall festivities and add a little spice to your dish.

New Pins Make the List at Mad T Party in Disney California Adventure Park

posted on November 9th, 2012 by Michelle Harker, Merchandise Marketing & Communications Project Manager, Disneyland Resort

Are you a fan of “Alice in Wonderland”? Or perhaps the Mad T Party, which lights up the night in Hollywood Land inside Disney California Adventure park? Well, hold on to your hats, because this collection designed by local Southern Californian artist Jeff Granito, in collaboration with Disney Theme Park Merchandise, is going to make your head spin.
New Pins at Mad T Party in Disney California Adventure Park
The key (quite literally) to this first set of pins is that not only do they represent some of the iconic images in the Mad T Party, but they actually glow in the dark.

Mad T Party Guitar Pick Pin at Disney California Adventure Park New Glow-in-the-Dark Cheshire Cat Pin at Mad T Party in Disney California Adventure Park

What else did Jeff have up his sleeve when designing these? How about a pin that comes with its very own Mad T Party guitar pick? It pops right out of the middle of the hat.
New 'Time 2 Trade' Pin at Mad T Party in Disney California Adventure Park
There’s a glow-in-the-dark Cheshire Cat pin that is simply a’MAZE’ing, a pocket watch reminding you it’s “Time to Trade,” an adjustable lanyard (which also serves as a functional guitar strap) and even a mystery pin set collection.
The Infamous Tweedle Bouncers, An Annual Passholder Exclusive Pin at Disney California Adventure Park
Last but not least, here are two others that, in my mind, take the cake – the un-birthday cake, that is. The first is an Annual Passholder exclusive that says “Password Please” and features the infamous Tweedle bouncers. The other is an actual guitar-style pin, complete with strap, and designed with what appears to be a teapot, but here’s the trick … it’s actually a pin-on-pin, and when the teapot is removed, it reveals “We’re All Mad Here” with the Cheshire Cat, which glows in the dark.

Want to meet the artist? Then you’re in luck. As part of the release on December 8, Artist Jeff Granito will be on hand for a special signing from 6-8 p.m. at Off the Page in Disney California Adventure park. It’s where the “Par T” is!
