Here’s something you don’t see every day. It’s 250 pounds of soap sculpted into one of my favorite Disney characters and beginning tomorrow you’ll be able to see how it’s created at the 35th Festival of the Masters. Check out Basin on the Marketplace side of Downtown Disney and see it created live. Show hours at the event are 9:30 to 5:30 p.m. Hope to see you there.

Festival of the Masters for the Artist in You
posted on November 10th, 2010 by Mary Haupt, Event Manager, Festival of the Masters
This month, I’ve been sharing some of the amazing art and special experiences planned for this year’s Festival of the Masters at Downtown Disney. And here are a few more, especially for you artists.
First, the folks at Disney Quest will be teaching guests how to illustrate a Disney character. You’ll be able to do it in just minutes. Our Disney character artists will be on the West Side of Downtown Disney walking you through every step of the way in creating a unique souvenir.
And also, be sure and stop by the SHARPIE exhibit on the Marketplace side this weekend and help color in a square which will be placed on a large mural to reveal our Signature Art “Coming Together” created by a Disney Artist. It’s another fun way to create at this year’s event.
The 35th Festival of the Masters fine arts show runs November 12-14. Show hours are Friday & Saturday 9:30am – 5:30pm and Sunday 9:30am – 5:30pm. Will you be joining us?

In just days, we’ll kick off the 35th Festival of the Masters fine arts show at Downtown Disney. And we’re thrilled to share some of the special touches you’ll be able to experience at this year’s event, including the chance to play Disney Epic Mickey and help create some LEGO art.
This year, LEGO will present a master builder inside their store on the Marketplace side of Downtown Disney who – with the help of our smaller guests – will create an 8-foot dinosaur. Then, you can visit the Pleasure Island area and help create a surprise mural made completely of LEGOs. Did you see our giant LEGO Buzz Lightyear and Woody mural?
Disney’s Epic Mickey at Festival of the Masters

Hi everyone. Yesterday, I shared a first sneak peek at some of the art you’ll see at this year’s Festival of the Masters at Downtown Disney. And today, we have more good news for those of you wanting to experience one of the year’s most anticipated Wii games.
Come to Festival of the Masters at Downtown Disney beginning next week and you’ll be able to see and play Disney Epic Mickey. The action-adventure game for the Wii console sends Mickey Mouse on an epic journey of creativity and discovery. As Mickey, you’re propelled into Wasteland, an alternate world made up of Disney’s forgotten creative efforts, and are given the power to wield paint and paint thinner to dynamically change the world while determining Mickey’s path to becoming an epic Hero. I’ve seen a sneak peak of this game and can’t wait to play. How about you?

This is my favorite time of the year. The fall weather and local art shows are perfect reasons to spend the day outside. My favorite fall event, of course, is the upcoming Festival of the Masters at Downtown Disney. And today, we’re sharing a sneak peek at some of the amazing artwork you can see at this year’s Festival.
Each year a collection of award winning artists come together to create one of the most prestigious art shows in the country. What makes us different? These artists have won a primary award in a juried art show within the past four years. So, be sure to stroll the West Side at Downtown Disney Area this season and talk with some of these outstanding artists. You’ll also come across the House of Blues folk art festival and on the Marketplace side you will see the Chalk Art Festival.
The 35th Festival of the Masters fine arts show November 12th-14. Show hours are Friday & Saturday 9:30am – 5:30pm and Sunday 9:30am – 5:30pm. Complimentary admission and parking.
