Main Street Style: Getting Into Character at Disney Parks

posted on October 23rd, 2013 by Michelle Stepney, PR Content Director

We’ve been celebrating the fall season all month at Disney Parks with Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World Resort. Looking for some costume inspiration? Look no further than some of the guests recently spotted by our style squad.

Main Street Style at Disney Parks: Mary Poppins Main Street Style at Disney Parks: Sally

LEFT: You’ll look super… (oh, you know the rest!)… dressed as everyone’s favorite nanny. A smart blue dress, carpet bag, proper hat and brawly (umbrella) bring the whole look together. It’s practically perfect in every way.

RIGHT: This dress is super cute for a day in the park and a dream for Halloween. Inspired by Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas, you could amp up the character quotient and top it off with a bright red wig.

Main Street Style at Disney Parks: Donald Duck Main Street Style at Disney Parks: Mickey Mouse

LEFT: If it looks like a duck and dresses like a duck, it must be none other than Donald. This sweet rendition of a Disney classic left us quacking for joy. The yellow sneakers and sailor top are precious.

RIGHT: Mickey is always a favorite inspiration for guests, but we especially like this mod interpretation done with color blocking. The yellow leg warmers are a clever touch.

Main Street Style at Disney Parks: Peter Pan Main Street Style at Disney Parks: Phineas and Ferb

LEFT: These friends on Main Street at Disneyland park inspired us to never want to grow up! We love their take on the characters from “Peter Pan.” Group costumes are a great way to extend Halloween fun.

RIGHT: A platypus on a secret mission is the inspiration for this look from Phineas and Ferb. We love the turquoise and white dress paired with the bowler hat. Though it will be hard to maintain your cover with a look this spot on.

Main Street Style: Mickey Takes Center Stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

posted on October 2nd, 2013 by Michelle Stepney, PR Content Director

We recently took our style search outside Magic Kingdom Park and found guests expressing their Disney Side at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. And both gals and guys joined in the fun this time!
Mickey-Inspired Style at Disney's Hollywood Studios

There’s no mistaking the inspiration for these red pants. We love the unique touch of the white suspenders.

From ears to toe this look channels a best-dressed Mickey. The red vest is a clever substitute for red pants.

These BFFs are a match made for Disney Parks. The lace hem and gloves of the Minnie-inspired outfit add a sweet touch reminiscent of the mouse herself. As for the Mickey look, the fascinator ear hat and bow-tie necklace would probably get a chuckle and thumbs up from the Big Cheese.

Main Street Style: Trendy in Black

posted on August 21st, 2013 by Michelle Stepney, PR Content Director

This week’s parade of Disney Parks fashionistas prove you can look both chic and playful in black – fashion’s perennial “it” color.

“Main

#1 Black lace and feather detailed mouse ears are the crowning touch for the strapless sundress and cropped leggings. This look says “comfort” without sacrificing style.

“Main

#2 Spanish label Desigual designed this graphic tee. We love the rouching and pleating details along the sleeve and bodice. The skirt’s uneven ruffled hemline is reminiscent of a flamenco dancer’s flirty frock.

“Main

#3 The Minnie t-shirt is clearly the inspiration for this outfit. Its pink bedazzled bow is referenced in the pink zebra sandals. The polka dot skirt is a nod to that red and white dress made famous by Mademoiselle Minnie.

Disney Style Snapshots: Monstrous Back-to-School Outfits

posted on August 7th, 2013 by Michelle Stepney, PR Content Director

We’ve celebrated a Monstrous Summer at Disney Parks this year. As the season begins to wind down and parents start preparing kids to get back to school, we thought it only fitting to share a couple of outfit ideas inspired by the Disney•Pixar film “Monsters University.”

Main Street Style: Pretty in Pink and Pastels at Disney Parks

posted on July 24th, 2013 by Michelle Stepney, PR Content Director

We recently took to the streets of Magic Kingdom Park again in search of style inspiration. Minnie ears and tiaras continue to be important accessories for those dressing to impress while on vacation.
“Main

Polka dots and plaid come together seamlessly in this outfit. The key is a coordinating color palette of fuchsia and turquoise in the plaid shirt, tie-dyed shorts and sequined Minnie ears.
“Main

This is how we imagine Cinderella on vacation. A breezy pale blue sundress, metallic silver sandals and a top knot adorned with a tiara. Princess perfect.
“Main

A rainbow of pastels make this outfit both playful and romantic. The lace and chiffon dress is the perfect compliment to the feminine Minnie ears. And no detail was missed as the sandals feature iridescent stones that mimic the sequins on the ears.

Disney Style Snapshots: Vive La France

posted on July 10th, 2013 by Michelle Stepney, PR Content Director

Disney Style Snapshots: Vive La France

Last week we celebrated Independence Day here in the U.S., where red, white and blue ensembles ruled the day. If you’re a Francophile, you probably know our friends on the other side of the pond will soon be celebrating an independence day of their own. Sunday, July 14, marks Bastille Day or La Fête Nationale as it’s officially dubbed in France, the birth of the modern French nation.

The way we see it, it’s just another excuse to visit Epcot‘s France Pavilion or even Disneyland Paris. If you can’t make the trek this week, consider a Bastille Day themed barbecue or party. In any event, this Breton stripe tee (derived from the shirts worn by sailors in the Brittany province of France) is perfectly suited for the occasion. The flirty image of Minnie is mirrored on the snap case wallet.

Minnie’s red bow makes a bold statement ring. A manicure is required when drawing this much attention to your hand, so we’ve chosen the latest color from the Beautifully Disney cosmetics collection. The sunny shade, Provincial Mademoiselle, also works for your pedicure. We finish the look with a pair of navy shorts from our closet. Voilà!

Disney Style Snapshots: Main Street Style

posted on June 26th, 2013 by Michelle Stepney, PR Content Director

Every time I visit a new city, I love to check out what people are wearing as they walk down the street. It not only gives me a feel for the place, but also inspires my fashion choices. And apparently, I’m not the only one among the fashion-obsessed who has adopted this practice. Many bloggers document “street style” around the world in endless photo galleries online.

This Look is Spot on Minnie Head to Toe, the Dress and Shoes Were Bought at Disney Parks A Graphic Take in Black and White, we Love How the Accessories Pop From the Pink Minnie Bow and Cell Phone Cover to the White Sunnies and Silver Flats Coordinating Your Outfit With a Friend Can be Twice as Fun, the Tank Top and Denim Shorts are Perfect for a Day in the Park and the Red Shoes are Nice Finishing Touch

Since we have the “world” – Walt Disney World Resort that is – in our backyard, we decided to take to the streets to find out what characters or attractions inspire guest fashions in our new feature, “Main Street Style.” We discovered one of Disney’s most iconic fashionistas made a big statement at Magic Kingdom Park. Minnie Mouse-inspired outfits were by far the most visible during our visit.

Disney Style Snapshots: Nautical Fun in the Sun

posted on June 12th, 2013 by Michelle Stepney, PR Content Director

Disney Style Snapshots: Nautical Fun in the Sun
The first day of summer is just days away, so finding ways to look cool and stay cool is top of mind for fashionistas everywhere. Whether you’re planning to set sail on Disney Cruise Line, get soaked on Grizzly River Run at Disney California Adventure park, or dive into Disney’s Blizzard Beach or Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon at Walt Disney World Resort, you’ll be ready for sun and surf in this week’s outfit.

We start with a nautical palette of navy, red and white that plays out perfectly on the “Love Love Love” tee. The slouchy silhouette is great with khaki shorts and easily doubles as a swim suit coverup. The halter swimsuit flatters the figure with a color block design and cord detail above the waist. We carry the nautical theme all the way through to the Dooney & Bourke wristlet in navy and white vertical stripes, just the right size for the essentials – your phone, park tickets, sunscreen and some cash/cards. And no summer look would be complete without a pedicure. We picked Looking for My Prince, a classic red shade from the Beautifully Disney collection.

Disney Style Snapshots: Making a Mickey Fashion Statement

posted on May 29th, 2013 by Michelle Stepney, PR Content Director

Mickey Mouse’s fascination with flying goes back to his first film, created this month in 1928. The silent classic, “Plane Crazy,” was later re-imagined and officially released as a sound cartoon in 1929 (following the debut of “Steamboat Willie”). In the film, Mickey channels famed 20th-century pilot Charles Lindbergh as he builds a plane and embarks on an adventurous flight with Minnie Mouse.

Great fashion statements usually have a story. That’s what I love about the retro Mickey Mouse on this aviation-themed tee. We’ve accessorized the look with classics that have a twist. The rich brown leather cross-body Dooney & Bourke bag features tooled leather flourishes of symbols from Disney Parks, like Mickey ear hats and bursts of fireworks. In keeping with the bag, the watch has a dark brown textured leather strap. Mickey’s hands help you tell time, directing you to the hour and minutes. We layered on some arm candy with a bracelet by Alex & Ani and top the look off with a gold Aurora lippy from the Beautifully Disney Collection.
