Dateline Adventureland: Adventure Trading Company Bids Farewell to Disneyland Park

posted on August 26th, 2014 by Tallahassee Glover, Adventureland Correspondent

Well, adventurers, the end of Adventure Trading Company’s limited-time engagement at Disneyland park has come. Reports indicate that the expedition outfitter ran out of supplies yesterday, and they are now in the process of packing up for the journey out of the jungle. But word in the trees is that Adventure Trading Company has one more surprise in store as it bids farewell to the brave, funny, friendly and cunning explorers of Adventureland.

On Friday, Aug. 29 – their last day in Adventureland – Adventure Trading Company will be collecting the stories of the local Juju Traders with story packets, available for sale at Indiana Jones Outpost. Inside each story packet is a Story Tag, which adventurers can use to record their greatest Juju tales. They will then report to Aladdin’s Oasis, where Adventure Trading Company representatives and local historians will be on hand to collect their stories and thank the “head storytellers” of Adventureland with a special mystery Juju. As the day continues, all Story Tags will be collected and displayed on Story Lines inside Aladdin’s Oasis for all your fellow explorers to see.

Come prepared to tell your story of courage, friendship, humor … anything that your expeditions have inspired in you! Remember, supplies are extremely limited and will only be available for this one day.

Come join us one last time and bid farewell to Adventure Trading Company at Disneyland park!

Dateline Adventureland: Tasty Treats and Tonics Part of the Adventure at Disneyland Park

posted on August 7th, 2014 by Tallahassee Glover, Adventureland Correspondent

Greetings, adventurers! Local Adventureland businesses are getting into the fun with Adventure Trading Company at Disneyland park, offering treats created for visiting traders. And these delicious delights even come with adventures of their own.

Traders collecting artifacts known as Juju may want to indulge with these delectable delights. My favorite is the Pineapple This-Side-Up Parfait, a mix of fresh and crushed pineapple layered with pineapple yogurt mousse and pound cake with a cherry on top.

But this parfait is more than a tasty treat … it’s the start of a very important ritual. Everybody knows that the pineapple is a symbol of goodwill and hospitality; therefore, those who eat this treat will become Goodwill Ambassadors of Adventureland. When you receive your Pineapple Juju, you also receive a pair of cards to help you spread the goodwill of Adventureland among other guests. The cards hold a sticker that recognizes the wearer for possessing certain adventurer traits. The cards I received recognized The Adventurous Spirit of Friendship, which I gave to my fellow explorer, Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tyler, who purchased the Pineapple This-Side-Up Parfait for me to enjoy.

There’s also Venomade at Bengal Barbecue, a cool concoction of snake venom and snake eggs. The venom has a real bite, and there’s nothing tastier than when a snake egg pops in your mouth! Anybody brave enough to finish the cup will receive the Snake Juju, a true sign of courage.

The last Juju isn’t available in Disneyland park, but at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel. Unfortunately, the skippers at the bar have lost the recipe for Trader Sam’s JujuJuice! Pick up your free telegram in Adventureland and find the ingredients. You won’t be able to order the drink and acquire the Tiki Mask Juju without it.

I’d also like to remind you that supplies are limited for each item, so make like a rhino and charge on over to Adventureland soon!

Dateline Adventureland: Hunting for Laughs with Skip and Birdwatching with Tiki Kiki

posted on August 5th, 2014 by Tallahassee Glover, Adventureland Correspondent

Kungaloosh, adventurers! Tallahassee Glover, back again. Some of you intrepid explorers have already discovered the wonders of Adventure Trading Company, now open at Disneyland park. We’ve met quite a few brave souls over the past few days, and I’ve just emerged from the jungles of Adventureland with these exclusive interviews with two of them: Skip and Tiki Kiki.

STK967437

“It wasn’t my fault,” Skip insists when asked about the infamous incident on the Jungle Cruise dock, “but it is a funny story. I regret nothing … sometimes you have to pay the price for a really funny story.” And losing his Jungle Cruise Skipper license seems to be a price he was willing to pay. Now Skip roams the edges of the river looking for more hilarity to distract him from his lack of employment.

“They’re offering a crash course – get it? – for new Jungle Cruise Skippers …” [Here is where we lost him in a fit of laughter. Seems Skip is pretty good at cracking himself up.] “… I’m going to pass it this time, get my Piranhahaha Juju and my job back!” Best of luck to you, Skip. Those looking to become Jungle Cruise Skippers can inquire at Adventure Trading Company, where they will can pick up The Jungle Handbook for River Navigation.

Anyone who is anyone in the Adventureland entertainment business knows Rita Serbano, especially after her big interview in The Bird Call (now available at Adventure Trading Company). But it’s her sister, Tiki Kiki, who is working hard to make a name for herself and rise out of her sister’s shadow.

“It takes a real eye for talent, you know,” she told me. “Not just any bird can make it in the Enchanted Tiki Room. You have to be more than a pretty face – or beak.” When asked about her sister’s interview, Tiki Kiki was evasive. “Weren’t we talking about me?” she demanded. We at Dateline Adventureland wish her much success … and recognition.

Which of your fellow Adventureland explorers have you met in your expeditions? Tell us your stories in the comments!

Dateline Adventureland: Adventure Trading Company Now Open at Disneyland Park

posted on August 1st, 2014 by Tallahassee Glover, Adventureland Correspondent

Tallahassee Glover here, back with another dispatch from Adventureland at Disneyland park. We have been receiving reports that the Adventure Trading Company has been spotted in Adventureland, bringing with them a variety of provisions and publications from around the area.

Explorers in Adventureland can now visit the Indiana Jones Outpost, where the Adventure Trading Company has set up temporary shop. In addition to the necessary whips and fedoras, this will also be the place to purchase maps, newspapers and other publications that will send you on an Juju-seeking adventure. Word is that the Adventure Trading Company has come across some additional Juju that will be for sale at the location. But beware, adventurers … these mystical Juju are in short supply.

Juju, as we told you in a previous report, are small traditional relics indigenous to the Adventureland culture. Each Juju represents a trait important to an adventurous lifestyle. Word on the dock is that the Jungle Cruise skippers will be brushing off their own personal Juju to wear in celebration of the Adventure Trading Company’s limited stay. They’re not the only ones getting into the spirit! The local archeologists, bird handlers and merchants are also planning to sport their Juju.

Between you and me, I’ve also spotted some new recipe shipments arriving for Tropical Imports, Bengal Barbecue and Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar … I think I’ll need to dig further into this.

Kungaloosh! I’ll see you in Adventureland!
