Ratatouille Comes to Life at Disneyland Paris

posted on June 23rd, 2014 by Thomas Smith, Social Media Director, Disney Parks

Over the weekend, Disneyland Paris previewed La Place de Rémy – a new area dedicated to the Disney•Pixar movie “Ratatouille.” The special themed-area will bring the storybook world of Ratatouille to life when it officially opens in just weeks – on July 10, 2014.

NRS706531

The dedication of La Place de Rémy happened in Walt Disney Studios Park at a ceremony that included Disney Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Robert Iger, as well as Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs, Chief Executive Officer of Euro Disney SAS Philippe Gas, and stars from the film.

“When we turn amazing worlds that may only exist in our imaginations or on film into multi-dimensional theme park experiences, we give our guests the opportunity to step into a story that they love. And Ratatouille is a fantastic example of that,” Tom said.

La Place de Rémy will feature the new Ratatouille, l’Aventure Totalement Toquee de Remy attraction that we told you about here on the Disney Parks Blog. The new attraction whisks guests into a crazy, culinary adventure in one of the capital’s most chic dining establishments, Chez Gusteau, offering a comical rat’s eye view into the world of Remy. Guests begin their adventure on the rooftops of Paris before boarding ratmobiles to scurry though the restaurant’s cold store and dining room overseen by the intimidating Chef Skinner.

And with a design inspired by the French capital represented in the movie, the area will also include Bistrot Chez Rémy, a table-service restaurant, and a special boutique, Chez Marianne (Souvenirs de Paris) – which opens at the end of the 2014.

Let us know in the comments what you’re looking forward to experiencing at La Place de Rémy.

First Look: New Disney•Pixar Custom Character Cars at Walt Disney World Speedway

posted on June 14th, 2014 by Thomas Smith, Social Media Director, Disney Parks

Last month, we let you know that new Piston Cup Racers Aiken Axler & Sage VanDerSpin would be unveiled during this year’s Car Masters Weekend at Downtown Disney at the Walt Disney World Resort. And today, we have a first look at both custom character cars, as they enter the line-up for the first time at the Richard Petty Driving Experience.

First Look: New Disney•Pixar Custom Character Cars at Walt Disney World Speedway

The #28 Aiken Axler and #80 Sage VanDerSpin cars were created by Disney•Pixar “Cars” creative director Jay Ward. Both will be used in the new Piston Cup Junior Ride-Along program for the Richard Petty Driving Experience beginning this weekend. Here’s a taste of what it’ll be like.

If you look closely, you’ll notice the character eyes on the car’s windshields help bring the vehicles to life – but the window wraps do not interfere with the view of the track.

Junior Ride-Alongs do not require reservations and are given on a first-come, first-served basis. Find out more information about program offerings, dates and times by visiting Drivepetty.com or call 800-237-3889.

You can see Aiken Axler and Sage VanDerSpin during Car Masters Weekend at Downtown Disney. Disney•Pixar “Cars” and “Cars 2″ characters Lightning McQueen, Mater and Finn McMissle will also be stopping by the event for meet and greets.

#DisneyKids: First Pony Ride at Walt Disney World Resort

posted on May 30th, 2014 by Thomas Smith, Social Media Director, Disney Parks

As we continue our series of firsts at Disney Parks, we thought we’d take a look at an experience known for making faces light up with joy at Walt Disney World Resort – a first pony ride.

Interacting with Mickey’s petite ponies at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch is often an unforgettable experience for children and parents. And it’s not uncommon for a parent who had a first ride here to visit years later with their children.

The pony rides are an experience for the child and adult and it’s unique that Disney does this, according to Robin Walker Zoological manager at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch. Rides are offered daily near Pioneer Hall at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

Let us know about your first pony ride or another special, memorable or even life changing first visit to Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort in the comments below and then check back for our new #DisneyKids series.
