Peek Inside New Adventures by Disney Itineraries, Including Austria, Germany & Czech Republic

posted on June 14th, 2013 by Heather Killingbeck, Director, Trip & Program Development, Adventures By Disney

At Adventures by Disney, we’re proud to announce our newest group guided vacation: Austria, Germany & Czech Republic. On this 9-day/8-night journey, guests will be immersed in the storybook treasures of Prague, Salzburg, Vienna and the Bavarian Alps.

In the German town of Berchtesgaden, guests enjoy a visit to a spectacular ice cave and salt mine. In the Czech Republic, families will take in the charming beauty of Prague and create their very own marionettes in a private workshop. And in Austria, guests will learn the art of waltzing (quadrille) and enjoy a private dinner in the Emperor’s Pavilion at the world-famous Vienna Zoo.

One of my favorite parts of this trip is the visit to the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. Not only are the Lipizzaner Stallions gorgeous, the school is housed in the royal Hofburg Palace and is one of the most beautiful riding rings in the world.

We’re also excited to announce new enhancements to our popular Italy vacation and special departures for families with teens.

Get a closer look at all the new adventures in 2014:

Of course, just as with every Adventures by Disney vacation, our expertly-trained Adventure Guides will make you feel right at home, providing personal attention to every member of the family while unlocking the secrets and timeless stories of each destination.

Educational Experiences With Adventures by Disney

posted on February 8th, 2013 by Holly Lail, Public Relations Manager, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures By Disney, Disney Vacation Club

How do you cultivate educational experiences for your children?

Last week on my Disney cruise, I was pleased to meet several parents who viewed their trip as not just a vacation but also as a learning opportunity for their children. Whether it was an authentic cultural experience on a Port Adventure, or an educational craft in a youth club, these parents sought out how to expand their children’s knowledge and understanding of the world through a family vacation.

Not surprisingly, families are doing the same thing with Adventures by Disney trips. In this video, which was first shared on the Disney Post, Director of Trip Development Heather Killingbeck explains how Adventures by Disney creates immersive itineraries that engage, excite and educate families.

Do you agree with Heather’s perspective on travel? What are some of the ways you use real-world experiences to teach your children outside the classroom?

posted on February 1st, 2013 by Jason Lasecki, Public Relations Director, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures By Disney, Disney Vacation Club

When my wife and I took our first Adventures by Disney trip last month to Costa Rica, we must have exclaimed dozens of times how much we thought our children would enjoy the trip. But even more than that, we couldn’t stop talking about how nice it would be to have our parents along, too. We must not be alone in that sentiment…

Not only will guests travel with other families like them on these multi-generational departures, they’ll also have the luxury of traveling with a professional photographer on-hand throughout the adventure to capture memory-making moments. And as usual, these trips include two dedicated Adventure Guides, knowledgeable local experts, hands-on educational activities, VIP privileges, private ground transportation and extraordinary accommodations.

Exploring Costa Rica with Adventures by Disney: Part 3

posted on January 9th, 2013 by Jason Lasecki, Public Relations Director, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures By Disney, Disney Vacation Club

My week-long trip to Costa Rica with Adventures by Disney was more incredible than I could’ve imagined. There were many, many highlights, from ziplining to whitewater rafting to the wealth of wildlife and breathtaking natural beauty. However, some of my highlights go beyond the activities and scenery. Here are some of my top experiences vacationing with Adventures by Disney.

  1. Adventure Guides Michael and Ronald were amazing hosts. We wish we could’ve packed them in our suitcase and taken them home with us. Both were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Their passion and excitement about Costa Rica was contagious and has us all feeling “pura vida!”

  1. Special surprises kept popping up through the entire trip. Not only did we get a special collectible pin each day, but we were treated to other surprises such as adopting a sea turtle and receiving souvenirs and exclusive receptions.

  1. During our trip, we formed some great friendships with our fellow adventurers. It was a lot of fun getting to know everyone on the trip and sharing our passion for travel and adventure.

  1. This was, by far, one of the easiest vacations I’ve ever experienced. The Adventures by Disney team planned out every detail – we never had to hassle with our luggage, wait in line to check-in at a hotel or worry about a single thing. All we had to do was sit-back and enjoy.

If you have any questions about the Adventures by Disney trip to Costa Rica, let me know in the “comments” section and I’ll do my best to answer them for you.

Exploring Costa Rica with Adventures by Disney: Part 2

posted on January 7th, 2013 by Jason Lasecki, Public Relations Director, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures By Disney, Disney Vacation Club

As much as I love nature and wildlife, the second half of my Adventures by Disney trip to Costa Rica appealed to another side of me – the thrill-seeking side! After a couple of amazing days in Tortuguero, we moved to the region near the Arenal volcano, one of the more active volcanoes in the world.
“Exploring

Our first “thrill” was this incredible view of the Arenal volcano from our hotel room.
“Exploring

The thrills kept coming as we moved on to a zipline experience high above the Arenal Rainforest.
“Exploring

As a seasoned traveler, I’ve experienced a variety of zipline courses but the course in Arenal featured some of the highest, longest and fastest zips I’ve ever enjoyed. What impressed me the most (besides the incredible views) was the way the staff on the zipline course interacted with our junior adventurers – very pleasant and accommodating.

Just when you thought the day couldn’t get any better, it did, with a visit to the Hidalgo Hot Springs. This collection of thermal-heated pools provided the perfect respite after an action-packed day.

The next day we headed off for white water rafting down the Rio Sarapiqui. The river cuts through the La Paz Rainforest and features Class II-III rapids. Our raft captain, Maurico, was an absolute delight – he not only kept us laughing the whole way down the river, but he had an eagle-eye and helped us find an abundance of wildlife.

Exploring Costa Rica with Adventures by Disney

posted on January 2nd, 2013 by Jason Lasecki, Public Relations Director, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures By Disney, Disney Vacation Club

When I was a boy, I would spend many Saturday mornings watching nature-based television shows and would never, ever pass up an opportunity to visit a zoo. So to find myself sitting in the middle of the Costa Rican rainforest writing this blog post is a bit surreal. What an amazing adventure!

Exploring Costa Rica with Adventures by Disney on a Jungle Cruise

My first couple days exploring Costa Rica with Adventures by Disney have been spent in the rainforest, seeing creatures in their natural environment that I’ve only seen before on television or at a zoological park. We’ve soared above the rainforest on aerial trams and sailed into the heart of the rainforest on our very own jungle cruise.

The hotel we’re staying at is adjacent to Tortuguero National Park. The wildlife is so close that we didn’t need a wake up call in the morning – the Howler Monkeys in the nearby trees provided us a with a wonderful serenade to help get us out of bed.

Every aspect of the trip has been meticulously planned by the experts at Adventures by Disney so we’re able to see all the highlights, but never feel rushed or hurried — there’s always time to just kick-back, relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. And hosting us on our journey are two Adventure Guides, Michael and Ronald, who already have become an extension of our family. They are both amazing!

While exploring the rainforest, I was lucky enough to get a few photos of the local inhabitants. I hope you enjoy them!

Stay tuned for more updates from my Costa Rican adventure.

Adventures by Disney Named World’s Leading Luxury Tour Operator

posted on December 13th, 2012 by Jason Lasecki, Public Relations Director, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures By Disney, Disney Vacation Club

Hi Disney Parks Blog fans! Today I’m writing to you about Adventures by Disney, and I have some pretty exciting news to share.

Adventures by Disney was just named the “World’s Leading Luxury Tour Operator” by World Travel Awards!

“Adventures

What’s more, earlier this year World Travel Awards named Adventures by Disney “North America’s Leading Tour Operator” for the fourth year running.

There’s no doubt Adventures by Disney is known for creating unforgettable experiences around the globe. Over the last seven years, it has been recognized by numerous travel organizations for its excellence in family tourism and was ranked #1 among Tour Operators and Safari Outfitters for Families in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best awards 2011 readers’ survey.

“Adventures

Coming up next year, Adventures by Disney will continue its tradition of offering award-winning experiences with two new itineraries – “Jewels of Southeast Asia” and “Scotland: A Brave Adventure.” In Asia, families will journey through Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. In Scotland, they will explore the country in an adventure inspired by Disney•Pixar’s “Brave.”

I’d like to extend my personal congratulations to all of the Adventure Guides, the reason Adventures by Disney was honored with both of these prestigious awards. “Share” this post if you agree… and give a shout out in the comments to your favorite Adventure Guide!
