With only a few days until Fantasy Faire debuts on March 12, actress Sarah Michelle Gellar and her husband, actor Freddie Prinze, Jr., got an opportunity to experience this enchanting new area in Fantasyland at Disneyland park with their 3-year-old daughter, Charlotte.
While making our way through Fantasyland, Sarah mentioned to me that they knew all about our new Fantasy Faire and that she and Freddie were really excited to be able to preview it with their daughter. Then, this happy family got even happier when we arrived and Rapunzel stopped by for a special visit following her appearance in the new show at the Royal Theatre.
When a child like Charlotte meets a Disney Princess for the first time, something special happens that reminds you what Disney memories are all about, and Fantasy Faire is the perfect place to make more of them.
Keep an eye here on the Disney Parks Blog for more information on Fantasy Faire, and join the conversation on Twitter by using the hashtag #FantasyFaire.
Thankfully, both my dad and husband are huge NASCAR fans, which served me well when I met race car driver Kurt Busch earlier this week at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. Kurt Busch stepped out of the driver’s seat to take part in a different kind of race – a remote control car race – at the “Cars”-themed wing of the resort. Young NASCAR fans staying at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort were over the moon as Busch offered the kids some racing tips, as his girlfriend Patricia Driscoll and her son Houston joined in the fun.
Kurt was a good sport during his stay at the resort, and even joked, when he saw Tow Mater from “Cars,” that he was no stranger to tow trucks following the weekend’s series of practice sessions and races in Daytona Beach, Fla., in which he was involved in some wrecks. He seem to feel right at home in the setting and posed for pictures with some of the high-octane pals like Lightning McQueen, parked throughout Radiator Springs. The “Cars”-themed wing of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort features 480 family suites, while the other wings at the new resort are devoted to “The Lion King,”“The Little Mermaid” and “Finding Nemo.”
Here are a few photos and a funny video that reveal Kurt’s competitive spirit as he takes on some guests off the track at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. So now you know who I will be cheering for at this weekend’s Daytona 500; Busch and his #78 Furniture Row Chevrolet, of course.
Earlier this week, legendary singer-songwriter Rod Stewart brought his family to the Disneyland Resort to celebrate his son Aiden’s second birthday. We caught up with the Stewart family in Disney California Adventure park where Goofy stopped by for a photo aboard the Red Car Trolley. Rod, one of rock’s style icons, let Goofy know how much he liked his suit and it was obvious that the birthday boy immediately recognized him from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on Disney Junior – the two even danced a little jig while singing the show’s catchy theme song – hot dog!
Rod is a huge model railroad enthusiast, and before he and Aiden disembarked the Red Car Trolley, they couldn’t resist blowing the whistle of car 623. All aboard for a special rockin’ birthday memory!
It would have made a great “I’m Going to Disney World!” moment.
“Tina Fey, your award-winning series ’30 Rock’ has just ended its successful seven-season run on television. What are you going to do next?”
The response from the multi-talented writer, producer, actress, author, show creator and comedienne easily could have been “I’m going to Disney World!” — because that’s exactly what she did. After production recently ended on her acclaimed comedy series, Fey enjoyed a visit to Walt Disney World Resort. Her next film, “Admission,” is a comedy/drama co-starring actor Paul Rudd and is scheduled to debut in theaters next month.
Magic Kingdom Park had a distinctive purple haze to it this afternoon as Baltimore Ravens fans joined other park guests and Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco in celebrating the team’s big win with a parade down Main Street, U.S.A.
Flacco rode in the parade along with Mickey Mouse, who dressed for the occasion by wearing his own football uniform, as confetti and balloons swirled around them amid cheers from the crowd.
Flacco, who was accompanied by his wife and other family members, is appearing in the famous “I’m Going To Disney World” commercial that is airing this week. Flacco threw three touchdown passes to lead the Ravens over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII and become part of our 26th “I’m Going To Disney World” campaign.
In case you missed it, here are some photos from the parade.
The world just saw quarterback Joe Flacco lead the Baltimore Ravens to a Super Bowl win tonight in New Orleans, so the only question now is what Flacco is going to do next. Unless you have been stuck inside Space Mountain the last 20 years, the answer is pretty obvious: He’s going to Disney World, of course!
Yep, immediately after Flacco and his team beat the San Francisco 49ers tonight 34-31 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, Flacco stood on the field, stared into a camera and shouted those now famous words: “I’m Going To Disney World!” The iconic moment is being used as part of a national TV commercial that, over the years, has become woven into the very fabric of the Super Bowl.
Flacco was the hero of the game, throwing three touchdown passes – all in the first half of the game – and completed 22 of his 33 passes for 287 yards to lead the Ravens to victory in front of a packed superdome crowd and a worldwide TV audience of more than 100 million. The performance earned him the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
More importantly for Walt Disney World Resort guests, the performance means Flacco will be coming to Magic Kingdom Park on Monday for a celebratory Super Bowl parade down Main Street, U.S.A., featuring balloons, confetti and Disney characters such as Mickey and Minnie. It’s the perfect way for Flacco and fans to spend some “Disney Time” which very likely will become magical memories that will stay with them for a lifetime.
Check back on the Disney Parks Blog late Monday afternoon and I will have pictures and video from the parade to share with you.
Last Friday, music superstar and Disney LegendElton John played pianos all across North America, Japan, Korea, Australia, Russia, Canada, Germany, United Kingdom, France and Singapore — and he did it all from the stage of the Hyperion Theater at Disney California Adventure park utilizing Yamaha’s groundbreaking DisklavierTV, powered by RemoteLive technology.
The evening began with the host for the event, Sinbad, introducing performances by an eclectic group of top artists including Amy Grant; Chaka Khan; Dave Grusin; Earth, Wind & Fire; David Foster; Dave Koz; Michael McDonald; Sarah McLachlan; Toto; Lucy Schwartz; and an exciting new artist, LEOGUN. The Trojan Marching Band from USC even made a surprise appearance!
As the finale for this great evening, Sir Elton played five of his classic songs on a Yamaha Disklavier reproducing piano onstage at the Hyperion, accompanied by a 60-piece orchestra. His actual piano keystrokes were faithfully played, note for note, in real time (via MIDI data) on each of the remote Disklavier pianos all over the world just as if he were there, while the entire orchestra was seen and heard on adjacent monitors in perfect sync with the remote piano performance. The result was an amazing blend of artistry and technology.
Backstage, Elton John was presented with a special gift from Yamaha to commemorate his history-making performance.
As you know, Epcot recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. Thirty years of making extraordinary memories for our guests. But, we’re not the only ones celebrating a 30-year milestone. So are our friends at “Wheel of Fortune”!
Well, as you all know, we’re all about the celebrating! And what better way to join in than to bring a BIG dose of Disney magic to “Wheel of Fortune”? So, starting Monday night, it’s “Making Disney Memories Week” on “Wheel”! Coming your way, five fantastic episodes that are loaded with Disney puzzles, prizes, and magic!
Now, you know I always like to give you a little behind-the-scenes glimpse of the productions we’re a part of. When you see the shows on the air, a little pixie dust brings Cinderella Castle, Sleeping Beauty Castle and the Disney Dream magically to life. But, the real Disney magic came courtesy of our friends at Disneyland Resort Ride/Show Maintenance, who made actual attraction vehicles from Dumbo The Flying Elephant, the Mad Tea Party and Peter Pan’s Flight available to be part of the show’s set! I can only imagine the sight of them on the back of a truck, cruising up the Santa Ana Freeway from Anaheim to LA! While I don’t have that picture, I’m really excited to share this photo of their arrival at the Sony Studios!
Some of your favorite Disney friends are part of the week, too. Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy all take part in the fun… and, after they were done filming, even sat in the audience to watch! Lightning McQueen even stopped by to get in on the action! (I was really jealous – that guy gets great parking spaces!!)
It was such a fantastic experience being a part of “Wheel’s” 30th, and we’re so excited to share it with you beginning tomorrow night, Monday, January 28, through Friday, February 1st! Please tune in – there will be so many fantastic surprises. Check your local listings. Enjoy the shows… and don’t forget to buy a vowel!
Not only does Astin love runDisney events but also loves the runners that participate. He was very generous with his time at the races and at the expo for photos, autographs and entertaining the crowd. Much to my surprise he even showed up in “character” for the 5K wearing Tinker Bell wings and a sparkle skirt. Now, he may deny that fact in public, but the video below has the evidence.
As runners we run for different reasons. Astin runs for what he calls #Run3rd. What that means is he runs first for himself, second for his family and third for anyone that tweets him and asks for a special run dedication.
I think anyone having the chance to meet him last weekend will agree, Sean Astin is a great guy, loves running and loves runDisney. But judge for yourself, let him tell you in his own words.
