Luck is on Your Disney Side this March at Disney Parks

posted on February 24th, 2015 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

This March, think green and luck is sure to be on your Disney Side! Here are a few ways you can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at Disney Parks.

Look for a specialty gourmet apple inspired by St. Patrick’s Day: dipped in caramel, enrobed in sweet milk chocolate, decorated with green sanding sugar and yellow jelly beans topped with a marshmallow hat.

SPDT7057913

Your luck continues with the re-introduction of March’s Triple Chocolate gourmet apple. This chocolatey confection has been dipped in creamy caramel, enrobed in sweet milk chocolate, rolled in a mixture of semi-sweet chocolate chips and white chocolate chips and drizzled with milk chocolate, dark chocolate and white chocolate. Fun Fact: This apple has been the #1 favorite among you, our Disney Parks fans for the past two years. Will its luck continue or will you choose another? Only time will tell. Mark your calendar for March 1, as these divinely delectable treats will go fast. Find them at Candy Palace on Main Street, U.S.A., in Disneyland park; Trolley Treats on Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure park; and Marceline’s Confectionery in the Downtown Disney District.

Perhaps our ‘lucky’ Mickey Mouse plush will help you find that pot of gold you’ve been looking for and the luck of the Irish will be on your side. This year’s brand-new St. Patrick’s Day pin features none other than Jessica Rabbit — a good luck charm.

Don’t miss out — The plush and pin are available now at select locations at the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts!

mdadtd283746

For the many fans who see them perform regularly in Disney California Adventure park or at Tortilla Jo’s in the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort, the Mariachi Divas de Cindy Shea need no introduction. And it probably won’t surprise their fans to learn that the two-time GRAMMY award-winners have been nominated for a sixth time in the Best Regional Mexican Album (including Tejano) category.

To celebrate, and in recognition of their loyal followers, the Mariachi Divas will celebrate their nomination with a free concert at noon on Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Downtown Disney District.

The Divas, founded in 1999, are nominated this year for their album “15 Aniversario.” In 2014, they became the first mariachi group in history to receive a second GRAMMY, for their album “A Mi Manera.” Their first GRAMMY, for the 2009 album “Canciones De Amor,” marked the first time in history that an all-female mariachi group had been a nominee and a winner.

The 57th GRAMMY awards ceremony will take place this Sunday, Feb. 8.

Best Places to Find Disney Tsum Tsum at Disney Parks

posted on January 23rd, 2015 by Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager

tttuuu7636991

Last summer, my son (and the rest of the world) discovered Disney Tsum Tsum. I recall we were on vacation in Ohio when he asked to download the fun puzzle matching and stacking game. Upon returning to Florida, he found the adorable stacking plush offered both at Disney Stores and in select locations at Disney Parks. Our friends at Oh My Disney even celebrated their arrival with a visit to Disneyland park (as seen in this article). I recently asked Victoria Hamilton, merchandiser for dolls and plush at Disney Theme Park Merchandise, about the best places to find Tsum Tsum when visiting Disney Parks.

tttuuu763652

“There are currently two different locations that offer Tsum Tsum,” explained Victoria. “Guests in California should stop by the plush room inside World of Disney at Downtown Disney District. For guests visiting Walt Disney World Resort, they should visit Once Upon a Toy at Downtown Disney Marketplace. These two locations carry an assortment of four-inch plush and a handful of the larger sized plush.”

tttuuu837993

She also told me that they will continue carrying select Tsum Tsum after they are released at Disney Stores. For example, guests will find the “101 Dalmatians” mini Tsum Tsum plush collection in early February at Disney Parks. This collection was first released at Disney Stores and online in early January.

tttuuu827814

In related news, the Disney Pin Team will release a collectible pin pack featuring Tsum Tsum later this year. Each pack will contain five randomly selected pins. I grabbed a handful of pins to photograph for this story including Oswald the Lucky Rabbit!

In addition to the two different locations at Disney Parks, you can find select Tsum Tsum products online at http://www.DisneyStore.com/TsumTsum.

Happy stacking!

Top Five Tips for Visiting the Disneyland Resort

posted on January 12th, 2015 by Erin Glover, Social Media Director, Disneyland Resort

I’m often asked for tips from family and friends who are planning Disneyland Resort visits. They want to know what to see, what to do and how to make the most of their trips. There are so many ways that my creative and thoughtful fellow cast members have developed to help make your visit easier and even more enjoyable, so today I’d like to highlight a few of them.

1. Disney eTicket

New Disneyland Resort Mobile Site Makes the Magic Easy New Disneyland Resort Mobile Site Makes the Magic Easy

When you purchase park tickets through the Disneyland Resort mobile site, you can simply scan your Disney eTicket directly from your mobile device right at the park turnstile. No need to print anything or visit the ticket booth! Learn more about the Disneyland Resort mobile site here.

2. Online dining reservations

This is one that I use all the time. Making dining reservations at the Disneyland Resort is super easy – especially when you book online at Disneyland.com. Bookmark this page and use it whenever you need to reserve a table!

3. “Fantasmic!” and “World of Color” FASTPASS and dining packages

DFD589042

This is one that will save you a lot of time. “World of Color” at Disney California Adventure park and “Fantasmic!” at Disneyland park now both feature reserved and stand-by viewing as well as several dining packages. These reserved viewing options give guests more time to enjoy other entertainment and attractions across the Disneyland Resort. Learn more about the new “Fantasmic!” viewing options here.

4. Disneyland Today

Got a question? Need more tips? Disneyland Today is a social media program that answers questions and provides real-time tips and updates for both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks, the Downtown Disney District and the three hotels of the Disneyland Resort.

5. Disneyland.com

The official website of the Disneyland Resort is an incredible resource for information when you’re planning your visit. In addition to being your go-to for dining reservations (see #2), Disneyland.com has park hours, Entertainment schedules, attraction height requirements and so much more.

Sweet Spots to Enjoy Sweet Treats at Disneyland Resort

posted on January 5th, 2015 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

Whether I’m waiting for the parade, people watching or just taking a break, one thing I love to do when I visit the Disneyland Resort is to find the perfect spot to try one of the tasty treats from our nearby candy kitchens. As you can see, some of my favorite treats include our hand-crafted English Toffee, Pecan and Peanut Brittle, Peanut Clusters, Dark Chocolate Pineapple skewers and amazing apples. These of course, are just a few of the classic choices amidst the many others that will delight your taste buds on your next visit. So where are some of the ‘sweetest’ places to enjoy them? A few of my top picks are across from King Arthur Carrousel, near the Haunted Mansion, Mickey’s Toontown and Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, to name a few.

DLS058045

Be sure to make Candy Palace on Main Street, U.S.A., at Disneyland park, Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure park and Marceline’s Confectionery in the Downtown Disney District your top places to go on your next visit. There’s bound to be something for every member of your family to enjoy.

Where’s your favorite place at the Disneyland Resort to sit back, relax and enjoy the show while enjoying a special snack?

Year in Review: Greatest Hits from Disney Theme Park Merchandise in 2014

posted on December 30th, 2014 by Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager

This year was an exciting time for Disney Theme Park Merchandise. On behalf of my fellow author Michelle Harker and the entire merchandise team, thank you for your feedback! We loved reading your comments as new things were revealed. Below is a brief list of popular items from 2014. I’d love to know your favorite products from this past year, so please share in the comments below.

mermer872611

Disney Character Mugs – This past spring, we released several new Disney character mugs. This article was one of the most popular stories of the year, particularly on Pinterest.

Disney Parks Collection By PANDORA JewelryIn August, we announced a new partnership with PANDORA Jewelry. We released a collection of hand finished sterling silver and 14K gold charms developed especially for Disney Parks.

Disney’s “Frozen” – Some of the most requested items this past year were inspired by Disney’s “Frozen.” We introduced graphic MagicBands with Anna and Elsa; Olaf-shaped candy apples, unique headware, and, of course, dresses! Guests could also visit Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post at Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Anna & Elsa’s Boutique, a make-over destination at Downtown Disney District in California.

mermer726992

Marketplace Co-Op – In June, we opened the Marketplace Co-Op in Downtown Disney Marketplace at Walt Disney World Resort. This location is a testing space for new Disney retail concepts, shops and products and contains some of my favorite places to shop like D-Tech on Demand, Disney Centerpiece or Cherry Tree Lane.

mermer726003

Haunted Mansion Authentic – In the fall, more than 100 new Haunted Mansion-themed products were introduced at Disney Parks. Part of a program titled, “Haunted Mansion Authentic,” these items were inspired by characters, icons and details from this classic attraction. In August, the attraction celebrated its 45 anniversary at Disneyland park. In October, we opened Memento Mori, a Haunted Mansion shop located in Liberty Square in Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort. The new location is also home to a unique Spirit Photography experience.

mermer872694

Showing Your Disney Side – Guests showed their Disney Side with products created especially for Disney Parks. We released new colors for the Disney Parks Collection by Vera Bradley. Guests loved combining pixie dust and positive energy with Alex and Ani bracelets. We also released several Dooney & Bourke handbags including some for Disney Cruise Line and the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.

mermer872695

Shirts, Shirts and More Shirts – I’m sure I’m not the only one who had to clean out their closets to make room for new Disney Parks apparel. From online only tees to exercise apparel, guests had plenty of choices for attire with nods to Disney Parks.
