24-Hour Event Merchandise Sparkles at the Disneyland Resort

posted on May 14th, 2015 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

There’s a number of reasons why I’m looking forward to May 22! First of all, it’s my mom’s birthday, so happy early birthday Mom! Not only that, it’s the exciting moment we have all been waiting for — the official kick-off to the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration! When you couple that with a 24-hour event and new nighttime spectaculars like the “Paint the Night” parade, “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” and “Disneyland Forever” fireworks, could it get any better? When I got a sneak peek at the artwork for the 24-hour event tees, “Being Up All Night Makes Me Dopey,” the answer was yes! Take a look, and I think you’ll agree.

Special Tip: Look for special glow-in-the-dark elements on the adult and youth tees.

Also debuting as part of the exciting event is a limited release pin.

Want more? Let me sweeten the deal — there will also be a specially created cupcake with the “Up All Night” logo. Our candy makers have been hard at work, creating delicious new confections in honor of the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration. Keep watching the Disney Parks Blog, because I’ll be sharing all of the details shortly.

Tees and pins will be available at:

Cupcakes can be found at:

It’s going to be an amazing celebration! Are you ready for it?

Tour Aulani with New Disney Vacation Club Virtual Resort Experience at Disneyland Resort

posted on May 13th, 2015 by Amanda Adler, Public Relations Manager

Throughout my career I’ve traveled to Disney destinations around the globe. However, I haven’t yet been quite lucky enough to visit Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa or Disney Vacation Club Villas in Hawai’i. I recently got to experience the next best thing – taking a virtual tour of the resort at the new Disney Vacation Club Preview Center at the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort.

This new virtual resort experience allows you to fly over and through Aulani, exploring each area of the resort in detail on large television monitors. It’s almost like being there – you can virtually walk through the Villas, glide along the lazy river and sample a Mai Tai (okay, I might be exaggerating a bit with that one), and more.

The new Disney Vacation Club Preview Center is located near the AMC Theatres at Disneyland Resort. Come on by and start planning vacations your family will never outgrow.

posted on May 1st, 2015 by John McClintock, Disney Public Relations

Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort

Special Cinco de Mayo menus will celebrate Mexican-American heritage at Tortilla Jo’s and House of Blues this week in the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort. From Friday, May 1, through Tuesday, May 5, Crossroads at House of Blues will feature its “Menu Especial,” with your choice of street tacos – blackened chicken or fish – or a chorizo burger topped with shredded lettuce, avocado and a fried egg. Dessert is strawberry empanadas with cinnamon cream and powdered sugar and, of course, there will be margaritas, including a Don Julio Margarita for the celebration.

At Tortilla Jo’s – Tuesday, May 5, only – the special menu starts with Ensalada Bandera with baby iceberg lettuce wedges, diced tomato, green onion, crispy bacon, hardboiled egg whites and ranch dressing, or Camarones Agua Chile: shrimp cooked in fresh lime juice and served with a mix of red onion, cilantro, red peppers and avocado slice. Entrees include Tricolor Dorado Filete – pan-seared Mahi-Mahi cooked with white onions, capers, olives, fresh oregano and white wine broth served on a bed of red and green bell peppers – or Pollo Adobado – grilled chicken thigh meat marinated in dried chiles, oregano and vinegar served with Mexican red rice and frijoles churros. Dessert is Gelatina de Tres Leche – Mexican-style custard featuring the colors of the Mexican flag – and the drink menu will include three special Margaritas: Blanco Traditional made with Don Weber Blanco tequila and lime juice, Margarita de Raspberry Rojo made with Patron Reposado tequila, lime juice, raspberries and a float of Cointreau, and Green Melon Margarita made with Cuervo Tradicional Blanco tequila, fresh lime juice and a float of Melon Liqueur.

Enjoy, and have a happy Cinco de Mayo with your friends and family.

Top 5 Ways the Disneyland Resort Inspired Kids to be Champions of the Environment this Earth Month

posted on April 30th, 2015 by Kevin Rafferty, Jr., Communications Specialist, Disneyland Resort

As Earth Month comes to a close, here are the top five ways the Disneyland Resort connected children in Orange County, Calif., to nature and inspired them to be champions of the environment this Earth Month!

Beach Clean Up

  1. Disney VoluntEARS, kids and families collected more than 100 bags of trash at Huntington State Beach, an event organized by Inside the Outdoors Foundation (ITO). The Disneyland Resort sponsored ITO with a $20,000 donation to support ongoing environmental field trips for students and activities like the beach cleanup.
  2. The Disneyland Resort sponsored Anaheim Community Foundation’s Spring Fun and Eco-Fair at Anaheim’s Oak Canyon Nature Center, where kids and families learned ways to reuse, reduce and recycle. The $20,000 donation helped make possible a mobile eco-fair that visited 10 Anaheim parks, schools and neighborhoods.
  3. Disney VoluntEARS supported environmental awareness events including the country’s largest Children’s Water Education Festival that the Disneyland Resort helped present at the University of California, Irvine, and MUZEO’s TrashARTist Challenge featuring student art made mostly of recycled materials.
  4. Students from Costa Mesa High School’s Environmental & Marine Academy took an environmental tour of Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park.
  5. The Disneyland Resort invited 140 children from eight Boys and Girls Clubs in Orange County to screen DisneyNature’sMonkey Kingdom” at AMC Theatres at the Downtown Disney District.
