Howdy, partners! You may know that Mickey, Minnie and friends kick up their heels with guests at Mickey’s Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. But did you know for the rest of the season, they’ll be serving up fun four days a week? Additional dates have been added; in addition to Thursday and Saturday’s, you can now book Tuesday and Friday, too!
This all-you-care-to-enjoy picnic features finger-licking BBQ favorites like barbecued ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, fresh corn on the cob, macaroni and cheese and new dishes like jambalaya, honey-mustard baked chicken and a selection of salads and kid-friendly veggies. If dancing up a storm makes you thirsty, quench it with a large selection of ice-cold sodas and soft drinks. Adults can enjoy Bud Light and Yuengling draft beers, Chardonnay, Merlot, White Zinfandel and Red Sangria included with dinner. For dessert, look for a new warm fruit cobbler or strawberry shortcake (when it’s in season) in addition to the popular Mickey-shaped ice-cream bars and other frozen treats.
Dance the night away with a live country-western band and character appearances throughout the night. The character meet and greet area has also been enhanced to allow for more time with your favorite characters for photos and autographs.
For reservations, visit DisneyWorld.com/dine, or call 407-WDW-DINE.

Are you a cat owner? Did you hug your cat today? If not, there’s still time as it’s National Hug Your Cat Day. (I can’t make this stuff up.) There are quite a few Disney cats you could hug, but today we’ll celebrate Oliver from Walt Disney Pictures’ “Oliver & Company.” Here is Oliver with Jenny, Dodger, Tito and Georgette at Magic Kingdom Park in 1988.
Who’s your favorite Disney cat? Let us know in the comments section below.

This summer, Disney Theme Park Merchandise is introducing several new souvenirs at Disney Parks. These items will make great gifts for loved ones or serve as a nice memory from your Disney vacation. For my first “Summer of New Souvenirs” story, I’m highlighting my favorite new things – decorative hand sanitizers. Having a son, I carry hand sanitizer everywhere I go, and these designs are fantastic!
There will be approximately 20 new hand sanitizers arriving at Disney Parks in late June and early-to-mid July. The artwork features popular Disney characters including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Anna, Elsa and other select Disney Princesses. Sleeping Beauty Castle from Disneyland park and Cinderella Castle from Magic Kingdom Park will also be included in the mix.
Each hand sanitizer comes with a specially designed 1 fluid ounce bottle and a key chain split ring with lobster claw clasp. At this time, we will not offer refill bottles yet you can refill the bottle with your favorite hand sanitizer once empty.
The Force is strong with my favorite designs featuring R2-D2 and Darth Vader. They are due to arrive this August in select merchandise locations at Disney Parks (they are insta-buy for me!).
Hand sanitizer will retail for $8.95 (plus tax). Please note that retails are subject to change without notice.
Look for additional Disney Parks Blog articles in the coming months with other new souvenirs.

During this Castle Forecourt Stage show, the mischievous Sanderson Sisters from Disney’s “Hocus Pocus” return to the mortal world for one night during the Halloween season. With only a few hours to run amuck, the three sisters decide to use their magic to throw the best, evil Halloween party this side of the graveyard.
“Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular” will be presented exclusively during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, held select nights at Magic Kingdom Park from September 15 – November 1, 2015. Check Shawn’s original story for more details.
And we shared the lineup for 2015’s “Eat to the Beat” concert series during this year’s Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. We’re kicking things off with David Cook on September 25 and will feature new acts like Tiffany and Chaka Khan. Charles has the complete list in his original story.

You may recall my fellow author Pam Brandon sharing in March that Aloha Isle Refreshments and Sunshine Tree Terrace swapped menus and locations. Starting Friday, guests will again find the Orange Bird figurine that was reintroduced to Adventureland in 2012. He is also being added to the marquee for the location. Finally, Orange Bird will be prominently featured in a new attraction poster found at Magic Kingdom Park.
To celebrate, we are offering the poster as an adult and youth T-shirt on our Disney Parks online store from May 29 to June 4. An Art on Demand canvas wrap and print will also be available online. Please allow 3-5 weeks for delivery.
You can order these items by visiting DisneyStore.com/ParkEvents.

Mickey’s Birthdayland became Mickey’s Starland at Magic Kingdom Park this week in 1990. A few of the local residents gathered by the town sign to commemorate the name change.
Mickey’s Starland eventually became Mickey’s Toontown Fair in 1996. Now, of course, it’s home to Storybook Circus, where you can fly on an elephant, feel the thrill of The Barnstormer or visit some familiar friends at Pete’s Silly Sideshow.

Imagine sitting at the end of Main Street U.S.A., looking at Cinderella Castle, the ragtime pianist serenading you as you bite into a juicy all-American hotdog. Is there anything better? Twenty years ago today, Casey’s Corner opened, pleasing hungry guests and baseball fans alike.
Decorated with vintage baseball souvenirs and photos, Casey’s Corner has been hitting it out of the park since 1995. Guests enjoy tasty favorites like the Barbecue Slaw Dog, Corn Dog Nuggets and Ball Park Nachos. Last year, we reimagined the interior to accommodate even more fans with additional seating.
Talk about a home run!
