#DisneyGrandAdventure: Three Generations on a Trip of a Lifetime

posted on February 11th, 2016 by Paula Hall, Public Relations Manager, Walt Disney World Resort Multi-Generational Travel

Among all of the great things I like about my job, I have to say that one of the most exciting moments is when I have the opportunity to spend time with our multi-generational guests at Walt Disney World Resort. It’s a lot of fun and I learn so much.

#DisneyGrandAdventure: Three Generations on a Trip of a Lifetime

This week I had the chance to meet Joyce Gillis, a high-spirited proud grandma and blogger at What Happens at Grandma’s. Joyce came to Walt Disney World Resort with all of her 16 family members spanning three generations. And as much as she is thrilled to be here on this trip of a lifetime with all of her family, she is also looking forward to a very special moment she wants to share only with her daughters. I’m thinking she has the best of both worlds; memorable time with her children and grandchildren.

The details that differentiate families who travel all together with grandchildren, parents, and grandparents does not stop there, does it? Joyce says that unlike the first time she travelled to Walt Disney World Resort, this time she can share responsibilities with her daughters to care for the children. After all, she is not the only mom around.

With her daughters in mind, Joyce says that parents who travel with grandma and grandpa also have the advantage of being able to go out on a fun Disney date while the grandparents stay with the children back at the resort. Sounds like a great opportunity for Valentine’s Day!

Spending time with Joyce’s family was truly inspiring. My take is that the age difference does not really matter, once everybody is together, on vacation, where dreams comes true, magic really happens! There’s aways a little something for everyone, right?

Our Disney Parks Moms Panel know the many hidden gems around the Disney theme parks including the imaginative and magical details of the interactive queues for some of our attractions. Did you know Disney Parks is leading the theme park industry in creating engaging experiences to help pass the time while in line?

Moms Panelist Leslie tells about her favorite interactive queues at Magic Kingdom Park, which include Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Haunted Mansion. The Dumbo queue is definitely one of the most unique, innovative and entertaining lines created for theme park. Leslie also thinks the queue at Voyage of the Little Mermaid at Magic Kingdom Park is beautiful and a must-see.

Peter Pan’s Flight is another attraction with a fun and imaginative queue according to Moms Panelist Autumn. Disney Parks Blog author Jennifer Fickley-Baker posted a fun video of the interactive queue that puts you right into the storyline of “Peter Pan.”

Jason, one of our Dad Panelists helps a guest from Indiana discover hidden magic including the footprints embedded in the ground in Fantasyland’s Storybook Circus and also the interactive queue at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train where you just might be able to make Snow White appear!

Remember the Disney Parks Moms Panel is here to answer your planning questions and can help you make the most out of your Disney vacation.

Club-Level Service at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa

posted on February 3rd, 2016 by Michael Ramirez, Public Relations Manager, Disney Destinations

Guests interested in adding more magic – and convenience – to their next stay at the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort should consider booking (or upgrading upon check-in, pending availability) to “Club Level.” What exactly does “Club Level” entail?

Well, all club-level rooms feature the wonderful amenities of our guest rooms, plus special touches including nightly turndown service and in-room DVD players. One of the coolest features is that all club-level guests have exclusive access to the hotel’s concierge club. The clubs are different at each of our three on-property hotels, but all have a dedicated concierge desk, as well as complimentary refreshments throughout the day. I’ll share an insider’s view of the lounges over the next couple of posts.

At Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, club-level guests are invited to relax at the Craftsman Club, located on the sixth floor near the Great Hall elevators. The Craftsman Club feels like a spacious living room adorned with Arts and Crafts-style decor. Club guests can enjoy complimentary afternoon tea and mingle over wine and dessert while watching the fireworks!

gcaad203

The Craftsman Club is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and provides guests with the following complimentary offerings:

  • Grand Beginnings (6:30-10 a.m.) – Continental breakfast bar with an assortment of fresh pastries, fruit, cereal and morning beverages.
  • Afternoon Tea (11 a.m. – 4 p.m.) – A selection of teas and other beverages, accompanied by a variety of goodies.
  • Grand Hours (5-7 p.m.) – Scrumptious appetizers and cheese, paired with your choice of wine and beer.
  • Sweet Endings (8-10 p.m.) – Delectable desserts and after-dinner beverages.

If you are interested in booking a club-level room at the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort, visit Disneyland.com, call (866) 43-DISNEY or contact your local travel agent.

Moms Panel Monday

posted on January 25th, 2016 by Leanne O'Regan, Director, Social Media, Disney Parks

“When is the best time of year to visit?” That’s a question I get asked often and is one of the most frequently asked questions to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

MPSS489986

Moms Panelist Rachel’s favorite time is the end of January. She helps Julie from Texas who wanted to know when was the least busy time of year. Rachel loves the beautiful Florida winter weather at Walt Disney World Resort and knows it’s a great get-away from the cold northern temperatures especially in January.

Another Julie, from Indiana, is planning her first trip and wants to know the best time of year to visit with their 4-year old daughter. Moms Panelist Kara offers several great suggestions such as September when the temperatures are starting to cool down and the special events, like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party are beginning. It’s perfect for traveling with a young child.

Moms Panelist Korliss also suggests September as a great time of year to visit. She knows that visiting after Labor Day can be a perfect time for a Disney Parks vacation.

The great thing about our Panelists is they have vacationed at Disney Parks at all different times of the year and have first-hand experiences to answer all your questions. Head on over and ask them your Disney vacation questions.
