Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival Expands to 90 Days in 2016

posted on November 19th, 2015 by Victoria Lim, Managing Editor, Walt Disney World Public Relations

Allow me to plant the seed for the perfect holiday gift: a spring trip to Walt Disney World Resort for the 23rd Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. It bursts into Epcot on March 2 – May 30, 2016, expanding from 75 days to 90.

As you take in the gorgeous creations we have planned for you, nosh on sweet and savory Outdoor Kitchen dishes and refreshing beverages. Even the kids will want to have a bite – or your whole portion.

Making their topiary debut at the park’s front entrance will be Donald Duck’s mischievous nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie along with Donald and Daisy. And to celebrate the National Parks Service centennial, Ranger Mickey Mouse will join for the first time in Future World.

I can’t wait to see how our horticulture artists create the new Floral Sun garden that will celebrate the brightest star in Earth’s orbit with yellow “sunbursts” that pop up across the Future World landscape.

And I know my toddler, who couldn’t get enough of the “Cars“-themed play area last year – the Cactus Road Rally garden – will never want to leave the innovative new “Fab Five” play garden featuring Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto and Donald Duck topiaries. Musical instruments will be built into the children’s outdoor climbing systems.

And we can’t forget about the Garden Rocks concert series – music that spans four decades.

We’ll have more details to share in the coming months, but for now, mark your calendars!

Moms Panel Monday: Multi-Gen Travel Tips to Walt Disney World Resort

posted on November 16th, 2015 by Leanne O'Regan, Director, Social Media, Disney Parks

Growing up in Orlando our family vacationed often at Walt Disney World Resort for birthdays, celebrations and holidays. At least once a year it was a multi-family trip with aunts, uncles, and cousins. We packed the suitcases, the dogs and grandma into our family station wagon and made the trip to Lake Buena Vista. Those were good times and great memories.

Today’s Moms Panel Monday question comes from Kathleen in New York who wants advice from our Disney Parks Moms Panel on how to plan a Disney vacation when traveling with different age groups.

This was a popular question for our panelists who offer up some great tips on how to manage everyone’s time together so each family member has a magical experience. Read here how you can plan for everyone to get the most from their vacation when traveling with a large family.

posted on November 2nd, 2015 by Leanne O'Regan, Director, Social Media, Disney Parks

Visiting the theme parks during the holiday season is one of my favorites things to do especially here at Walt Disney World Resort. The weather has cooled down, the hotels and theme parks are beautifully decorated and you can just feel the energy in the air.

For this week’s Moms Panel Monday, Tenisha from North Carolina is asking for advice on how to make the most of her family’s first trip to Walt Disney World Resort. The family, with their two pre-school children, will be arriving during the Christmas break.

The Disney Parks Moms Panel offers some great tips for Tenisha including which resort they recommend and which “must do” theme parks to experience. Read the Mom’s Views here.

Ever wonder about the best way to experience a Disney vacation with a baby or toddler? Recently, the Disney Parks Moms Panel has heard from several guests on this topic and have been able to offer great, real-parent advice on how to make the most of the trip.

Here, several panelists with preschoolers of their own give tips to a mom looking for the best hotel option her 3-year-old daughter’s birthday vacation. From resorts conveniently located on the monorail, to those with theming fit for a princess, check out the panel’s recommendations here.

Moms Panelists also lend their advice to a mom bringing her 8-month-old to Walt Disney World for the first time. I love that many of the panelists have visited recently with babies and can offer tips that worked for them, like utilizing the laundry service at the resorts and taking advantage of the Rider Switch option in the parks so that parents and older siblings can still experience thrill rides. It’s back-to-school time for kids across the country, which means a rush for end of season family vacations. Parents of younger children, however, tend to have more schedule flexibility because they don’t need to worry about school calendars. Right now through September 18, preschool families can book a “Kid-Sized” package for three nights and two days at Walt Disney World Resort, starting at just $903 for travel on select dates between October 4 – December 10.
