Disney Sea & Shore Week on ‘Wheel of Fortune’

posted on March 2nd, 2015 by Tony Shepherd, Producer, Broadcast Marketing

There are many partners that we work with at Disney – but it’s no secret that “Wheel of Fortune” is one of our favorites, and we’re always thinking about new ways that we can work together.

Disney Cruise Line has been featured on the show before. But, this week, two more exciting vacation destinations join for the very first time: Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa and Adventures by Disney! And with all three together, it’s Disney Sea & Shore Week on “Wheel”!

hejsla654323

I always tell you that I have the best job at Disney… and working on this production may have been the most fun of all. Along with some other very talented (and lucky) cast members, we played host to our friends Pat Sajak and Vanna White as they sailed aboard the Disney Cruise Line, got a taste of Hollywood on one of our spectacular Adventures by Disney trips, and experienced the true magic of Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa in Hawaii.

Pat and Vanna, along with the entire crew from “Wheel of Fortune” made memories that will last a lifetime, as we all traveled from the Atlantic to the Pacific. From an extraordinary dinner at Palo aboard the beautiful Disney Dream, to storytelling by the fire at Aulani, to a stroll along world famous Hollywood Boulevard on a unique Adventures by Disney excursion, I don’t think any of us will soon forget these special moments.

hjdksal654324

Good news is, you’ll get to see many of these experiences throughout the week of shows, beginning tonight, along with some clever Disney-themed puzzles, a dazzling set, special contestants who love these destinations just as much as we all do. There’s plenty of inspiration, too, for your next Disney vacation as you venture outside the theme parks. And, another exciting treat – five lucky viewers will win their very own dream vacation to Aulani, just for watching! More details, here.

Wjdksa654322

So, don’t miss Disney Sea & Shore Week, beginning tonight! Check your local listings for time and channel.

(One last thing. I would never dream of giving anything away. But, just between us, don’t be surprised to see even more Disney fun ahead this season on “Wheel.” No one will know I told you, right?)

Buy a vowel!

A Look at Disney Cruise Line’s Remy Through the Eyes of Three Michelin-Starred Advising Chef Arnaud Lallement

posted on March 2nd, 2015 by Salah Chetbi, Dining and Beverage Standards and Consistency Manager, Disney Cruise Line

The ever-changing menu at our French-inspired restaurant, Remy, is created by two prestigious chefs, Scott Hunnel and Arnaud Lallement, who are both internationally known for their outstanding culinary creations. My guess is that many of you have enjoyed cuisine from Chef Scott Hunnel at the award-winning Victoria & Albert’s at Walt Disney World Resort. But if you haven’t dined at Remy on the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream yet, you most likely haven’t had the exceptional experience of tasting dishes developed by Chef Arnaud Lallement.

Today I want to give you the chance to hear first-hand from Chef Arnaud about his commitment to bringing the same excellence to Remy that you’ll enjoy at L’Assiette Champenoise, his Michelin three-star restaurant just outside Reims, France. He sails with us throughout the year to develop new menu items and work with the onboard culinary team, so I took the opportunity on his last visit to talk with him about his role at Remy. Take a look at this video to hear what he had to say …

Check back next week to hear more from Chef Arnaud about his inspiration for creating the exquisite cuisine that sets Remy apart from any other restaurant at sea!

Adventures Ashore in Norway Exclusive to Disney Cruise Line

posted on February 27th, 2015 by Arnaldo Zanonato, Port Adventures Manager

Have you enjoyed learning Norwegian phrases for your Disney cruise as much as I have? I have one more video from this fun series to share with you today. This video features Kenneth, a local you may meet during our Molde Folk Museum & City Tour. Hear what phrases he has to teach you …

Now that I’ve showcased Port Adventures in Molde, Geiranger, Alesund, Stavanger and Bergen, I want to highlight more Disney-exclusive excursions in two of our other Norway ports, Olden and Kristiansand

Visit Iconic Fjord Horses in Olden with Disney Cruise Line Visit Iconic Fjord Horses in Olden with Disney Cruise Line

Iconic Fjord Horses in Olden
From the quaint village of Olden, you’ll travel to a Norwegian Fjord Horse Center to experience one of the world’s oldest breeds and one of the country’s national symbols, the Norwegian Fjord Horse. The adventure includes an up-close look at the stallions, mares and foals in a tour of the stables. Disney cruisers also have an opportunity to interact with the horses and see these magnificent animals in action during a dynamic riding performance before meeting the local students who come here to train and care for their horses.

A Taste of Norway in Kristiansand
For those with a culinary passion, a Port Adventure exclusive to Disney Cruise Line in centuries-old Kristiansand provides the perfect hands-on cooking experience. You’ll don aprons and create Nordic specialties, such as succulent wild game filets and krumkaker, a heavenly waffle cookie typically served around Christmastime. Then, you get to sit back and relax, enjoying your sumptuous meal paired with a glass of wine.

Those of you joining us in Norway this summer, tell me, which of the Port Adventures I’ve shared with you are on your family’s must-do list? Up next, I’ll suggest excursions in Iceland, another one of our brand-new destinations for our summer in Europe!

posted on February 25th, 2015 by Rebecca Peddie, Manager, Public Affairs

Just because you take a vacation with your family doesn’t mean you have to take a vacation from healthy eating.

Mickey Check meals are now offered on children’s menus aboard all four Disney Cruise Line ships.

The Mickey Check is a tool that makes it easier for parents and kids to identify nutritious choices. Mickey Check meals meet Disney Nutrition Guidelines and feature three or more nutritious food groups such as vegetables, whole grains or lean protein.

Disney chefs are experts in both taste and presentation, especially when it comes to taking healthy food and making it fun and delicious for our youngest guests.

Immersive dining experiences at Disney Parks and on Disney cruise ships blend cuisine with storytelling in a way that only Disney can. Whether it’s a quick meal on the go, a character dining experience or an exquisite adults-only dinner at Remy, cruise guests will find a range of food and beverage options to satisfy their exotic, health conscious and even comfort-food tastes.

Why not kick-start healthy living in your own kitchen? Here’s a recipe for a Mickey Check meal featured at sea that you can prepare as a family at home:

Selecting which Port Adventures in Norway to tell you about isn’t an easy task because there are so many incredible options for your family! Like in all of our destinations, we’ve developed a variety of shore excursions to meet your interests, whether it’s the great outdoors, tantalizing cuisine, historical locations or rich cultural immersion. Today, I want to take you to Stavanger and Bergen, two of the breathtaking locales on our Norwegian fjord sailings this summer.

Let’s start with Stavanger, home to the amazing Pulpit Rock, one of the most photographed sites in Norway. Our Hike To Pulpit Rock Port Adventure is the perfect way to take in the awe-inspiring views from this steep cliff. Your journey includes a 2-3 hour scenic hike to the top of the mountain, passing ponds, mountains, forest and marsh. The reward? One of the world’s most spectacular views! Don’t think you can face the hike up? Choose the Stavanger Helicopter Sightseeing to see it all from up above or even the relaxing Lysefjord Cruise, where you can see the majestic rock from the waters of the fjord below.

‘Frozen’ Friends Join Disney Cruise Line Port Adventures in Norway

posted on February 18th, 2015 by Arnaldo Zanonato, Port Adventures Manager

For the first time in forever, Anna, Elsa and Kristoff are joining us ashore for a one-of-a-kind family Port Adventure! When we call on Ålesund, Norway during our Norwegian fjord sailings this summer, you’ll have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit with these Disney friends from the neighboring kingdom of Arendelle.

AEN75750382

Your adventure begins at a charming countryside village, recreated with buildings dating back to the 1800s. Here, at the outdoor Sunnmøre Museum, only Disney cruisers are invited to a Norwegian summer celebration where the festivities culminate with the arrival of the beloved royal sisters and their ice-loving companion.

AEN75750381

At this outdoor celebration, you’re invited to dance to folkloric tunes from local musicians, play old-fashioned games and explore the beautiful grounds and historic homes. You’ll also get to sample tasty Norwegian specialties, including svele, a traditional sweet pancake from the region. The photo opportunities will be plenty, when visiting with the many locals wearing traditional Norwegian outfits and the village’s beautiful Fjord horse, and of course, during your personal meet-and-greets with our special “Frozen” friends.

This Disney-exclusive Port Adventure marks Anna, Elsa and Kristoff’s very first visit to the land that inspired their story. Who’s ready to bring back summer so we can get this party started?

Five Places to Spot Villains on a Disney Cruise

posted on February 13th, 2015 by Jonathan Frontado, Disney Cruise Line

Even Villains love Disney cruises! In honor of Villaintine’s Day, here’s a look at some of the places you can spot these nefarious characters while sailing the high seas …

Villains Tonight

  1. Singing on stage: The name of our hilarious musical production, “Villains Tonight!” says it all! This family-friendly show on the Disney Dream and Disney Magic features a “Who’s Who” of the Disney villains and places these evil-doers in some irreverent funny moments. Their wacky antics and amusing musical numbers are sure to have you laughing!
  2. Partying with pirates: Villains can’t resist a good party! During our famous Pirates IN the Caribbean deck party, an epic battle at sea ensues when they make their appearance. But don’t worry, you’re in for a raucous good time, complete with music, dancing and a spectacular grand finale of fireworks, when the good guys take on the villains.

Youth Club

  1. Coming to life on screen: Chances to see your favorite evil foes on screen are plenty, with Disney films shown in our theaters, by the family pool, in the youth clubs and on your stateroom television. Plus, they come to life through technological innovations like our interactive detective adventure game where you’re tasked with determining the villain to save the day!
  2. Galavanting in youth clubs: Little cruisers are in for an adventure when villains sneak into the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab to stir up some fun. Activities like our pirate training for young buccaneers wouldn’t be complete without a special visit from Captain Hook to help them learn what it takes to be a swashbuckling pirate.

On Deck

  1. Walking the plank (a.k.a. the deck): Be on the lookout throughout your cruise for infamous characters strolling the upper decks. Don’t be fooled by their charm when they agree to your request for a photo, as they are likely plotting their next evil scheme and scanning the horizon for an opportunity to stir up some mischief!

Where else have you spotted a villain on a Disney cruise?
