Families make memories at Disney Parks every day – but for a handful of our guests, Walt Disney World Resort is a place where they’ve experienced magical surprise reunions with loved ones returning from tours of duty abroad.
In honor of the Fourth of July, we’d like to share our favorite U.S. Military surprise reunions that have taken place within our “world” over the past few years. Get ready to get the tissues out!
- Young guest Adisen Kallas is reunited with her father, Navy SEABEE UT1 Scott Kallas, at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex after his 11-month tour of duty.
- Watch as SPC Scott Halquist of St. Cloud, Florida, surprises his three young children at Epcot’s American Adventure attraction.
- Mickey Mouse helps one military family reunion come true for the Liddell brothers – Jacob, Joshua and Jackson.
- Check out the magic that CW2 Travis Myers created for his wife, Kim, during the 2014 Disney Princess Half Marathon – all the way from Afghanistan.

Are you planning to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Disneyland on July 17? If so, get your best duds ready and come dressed in your finest suits and circle skirts . . . we’re inviting you to show your 1955 Disney Side!
When Disneyland opened on July 17, 1955, guests arrived in their fanciest attire . . . even children were dressed to the nines. Fast forward sixty years and many of our guests still enjoy visiting the Disneyland Resort in their three-piece suits and hats, cat-eye sunglasses and pearls. So in honor of our historic opening day, Disneyland Resort guests are encouraged to help us travel back in time by wearing their favorite 1955-inspired ensembles.
Throughout the day, you will have opportunities to show your 1955 Disney Side with special photo locations and themed entertainment. So curl your hair, dust off that fedora and take your Disney Side back in time to celebrate 60 years of Disneyland!
