Stunning Sights Await at the Grand Canyon with Adventures by Disney

posted on March 17th, 2015 by Amanda Adler, Public Relations Manager

I’ve had the travel bug in me since a young age and, thankfully, I’ve had a chance to fill quite a few pages in my passport over the years. But I have to admit that my wanderlust has left me a little lacking when it comes to exploring the incredible National Parks found right here in my own backyard of North America. Most notably, I feel remiss to say that I have never taken a Grand Canyon tour. This is one of America’s most legendary landmarks, and on an Adventures by Disney Arizona and Utah vacation you can see firsthand why this national landmark is one of the seven wonders of the natural world.

GCT7908971

I think that soaking in the majesty of the Grand Canyon is truly a rite of passage that every person should experience. And that’s why this Adventures by Disney destination is so high on my “must do” list (and why I’ll be taking my own son on this trip someday).

I think the main reason I’ve never been to Grand Canyon National Park is that it’s not exactly located in the middle of a major city (which also is a huge part of what makes it so appealing) and, therefore, it’s never seemed easily accessible. It’s not a place you can just “swing by” and check out on your way to your next destination. Nor would you want to. And that’s what makes the Adventures by Disney Arizona and Utah vacation so special – you’re not simply going on a brief Grand Canyon tour that’s mostly travel time with just a little bit of sightseeing thrown in. No, you actually get to spend two nights in the park itself, where you’ll be constantly surrounded by picturesque views.

grandcanyon7

Here you’ll watch the sun set (and rise if you can make it out of bed in time), chow down on a delicious Western BBQ dinner complete with a noteworthy view, delight in an exclusive a Native American dance performance and so much more. Enjoy a private expedition, complete with a naturalist guide, as you drive and walk along the notable South Rim and discover the wonder and mystery that this landmark has to offer.

GCT7908973

And, the Grand Canyon is just part of this journey through the great Southwest. You’ll also explore other breathtaking, “bucket list” worthy in their own right, destinations, including Sedona, Monument Valley, Arches National Park and more.

President Lyndon B. Johnson once said “If future generations are to remember us with gratitude rather than contempt, we must leave them something more than the miracles of technology. We must leave them a glimpse of the world as it was in the beginning, not just after we got through with it.” And I can’t think of any better way to see the wonders of the world than with Adventures by Disney.

Disney Sea & Shore Week on ‘Wheel of Fortune’

posted on March 2nd, 2015 by Tony Shepherd, Producer, Broadcast Marketing

hdjaskl654321

There are many partners that we work with at Disney – but it’s no secret that “Wheel of Fortune” is one of our favorites, and we’re always thinking about new ways that we can work together.

Disney Cruise Line has been featured on the show before. But, this week, two more exciting vacation destinations join for the very first time: Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa and Adventures by Disney! And with all three together, it’s Disney Sea & Shore Week on “Wheel”!

hejsla654323

I always tell you that I have the best job at Disney… and working on this production may have been the most fun of all. Along with some other very talented (and lucky) cast members, we played host to our friends Pat Sajak and Vanna White as they sailed aboard the Disney Cruise Line, got a taste of Hollywood on one of our spectacular Adventures by Disney trips, and experienced the true magic of Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa in Hawaii.

Pat and Vanna, along with the entire crew from “Wheel of Fortune” made memories that will last a lifetime, as we all traveled from the Atlantic to the Pacific. From an extraordinary dinner at Palo aboard the beautiful Disney Dream, to storytelling by the fire at Aulani, to a stroll along world famous Hollywood Boulevard on a unique Adventures by Disney excursion, I don’t think any of us will soon forget these special moments.

hjdksal654324

Good news is, you’ll get to see many of these experiences throughout the week of shows, beginning tonight, along with some clever Disney-themed puzzles, a dazzling set, special contestants who love these destinations just as much as we all do. There’s plenty of inspiration, too, for your next Disney vacation as you venture outside the theme parks. And, another exciting treat – five lucky viewers will win their very own dream vacation to Aulani, just for watching! More details, here.

Wjdksa654322

So, don’t miss Disney Sea & Shore Week, beginning tonight! Check your local listings for time and channel.

(One last thing. I would never dream of giving anything away. But, just between us, don’t be surprised to see even more Disney fun ahead this season on “Wheel.” No one will know I told you, right?)

Top 5 Junior Adventurer Activities with Adventures by Disney

posted on February 24th, 2015 by Andrae Gill, Adventures by Disney

Anyone who’s ever traveled with children knows that it can be challenging to find ways to keep the kiddos entertained. Luckily, Adventures by Disney vacations are designed with families in mind so adults can relax, knowing their Junior Adventurers are engaged and having the time of their lives.

While every Adventures by Disney vacation offers unique activities designed for younger travelers, here are my top 5 Junior Adventurer activity picks.

A Young Traveler with Adventures by Disney Looks Through a Magnified Glass

England and France
Travel to England and France, where you’ll step into the illustrious Louvre Museum in Paris, home to the Mona Lisa and other fascinating pieces of art. As adults tour the museum with a local expert, Junior Adventurers will have the chance to participate in an interactive scavenger hunt, uncovering clues leading to hidden secrets of the Louvre’s art collection.

Scotland
Visit Scotland, which is home to Rothiemurchus Estate, one of the greatest tracts of natural forest in Britain. While adults enjoy a tour of the estate, Junior Adventurers will mount up and spend the morning riding Highland ponies over peaceful hills and heather moorlands, past stunning views of the Cairngorm mountain range.

Wyoming
Sure you’ll get to see the famed Old Faithful at Yellowstone National Park, but on the Adventures by Disney Wyoming vacation Junior Adventurers will also get to make their very own geyser during an interactive presentation that’s sure to be a crowd pleaser.

JAABD8506306

Greece
Who says kids can’t enjoy a visit to a winery? While adults indulge in a wine tasting experience while vacationing in Greece, Junior Adventurers can have some fun as they stomp through grapes at the Volcan Winery. After stomping away, the whole family can enjoy a private Greek lunch made with fresh local ingredients.

Ireland
With a picturesque view of the emerald Irish countryside, Junior Adventurers can test their luck on the Ireland vacation during an exciting shamrock hunt in Cashel on the same grounds where Saint Patrick once stood.

These are just a few examples of the many ways your kids will the vacation of a lifetime with Adventures by Disney. Plus, Junior Adventurers can also look forward to special dinners, games and Disney movie nights offered on most itineraries – a perfect ending to days full of exploring.

Room with a View: A Peruvian Casita with Adventures by Disney

posted on February 18th, 2015 by Amanda Adler, Public Relations Manager

On my Adventures by Disney travels I’ve slept in fairytale style castles in Germany, enjoyed rooms overlooking Norwegian fjords and reveled in bustling city views in locales near and far. But my personal favorite “room with a view” (thus far, but I’m determined to keep on looking forever!) was staying in my own personal casita in Peru’s Sacred Valley on an Adventures by Disney Peru vacation.

perabd182738

Disclaimer: I can’t guarantee rainbows during your visit, but I can promise the setting will be completely breathtaking!

Casita is Spanish for “small house,” and these small houses, found at the award-winning Sol y Luna Lodge and Spa, truly give you a sense of beautiful seclusion.

Offering a backdrop of the stunning Andean mountains, this lodge serves as the setting for a variety of authentic Peruvian experiences, including a traditional Andean feast known as Pachamanca. Pachamanca means “earth oven” or, in other words, it means that your meal is actually cooked in the ground itself with the aid of hot stones. It’s truly a meal your family will never forget (and one you wouldn’t want to recreate in your own backyard)!

The lodge also serves as home base for adventures such as river rafting, exploring local salt pans, hands-on cooking activities and, most notably, it’s the starting point for your travels to Machu Picchu, known as “the lost city of the Incas” and one of the Seven New Wonders of the World.

So cozy up on your own private porch, on your own private Peruvian casita, with Adventures by Disney. And be sure to truly savor that view!

Set Your Eyes on Scotland’s Isle of Skye with Adventures by Disney

posted on February 11th, 2015 by Amanda Adler, Public Relations Manager

Recently we shared with you how you can tap your feet to the music of bagpipes as you discover majestic castles, the mystery of Loch Ness and more on an Adventures by Disney Scotland vacation. Well now I’m here to tell you about what is, in my humble opinion, the most impressively scenic part of this trip – a visit to the enchanting Isle of Skye.

hanuit8365911

Here you will explore Brothers Point, a rocky promontory that reaches out into sea. Striking green grass pathways lead you over lush, gentle hills until you reach Brothers Point. As you hike across Brothers Point, you can’t help but be captivated by the stunning, deep blue waters, rugged shoreline and a dream like (yes, dream-like!) sky.

hanuit869822

If Brothers Point seems unreal, wait until you visit The Quiraing, a hilltop that will take your breath away (probably not literally, but you get my point). After a hike through grass-carpeted hills you’ll be stunned (again, not literally) by an amazing view of a glistening blue bay and slopes that tumble past astounding land formations.

The Isle of Skye not only offers remarkable things to look at, but also is the setting of many memorable adventures. And you’ll enjoy some unbelievably delicious treats.

hanuit527933

Show off (or put to the test) your baking skills as you join a pastry chef at the Isle of Skye Baking Company. You’ll see how to bake delectable Scottish scones and then get to create them for yourself (I assure you that these taste about 500 times better than the store-bought boxed scone mixes that state “just add water,” plus you get to brag to friends back home that you learned the art of pastry making from an authentic Scottish chef).

The Isle of Skye not only has scrumptious scones, but also has genuine drinks. Adults will enjoy a private Scotch whisky tasting while the Junior Adventurers enjoy playing games such as Tug of War and Wellie Boot Toss (yes, adults can play Wellie Boot Toss too in lieu of tasting Scotch, or in addition to, although after a few fingers of finely aged whisky you might not be in tip top boot tossing form).

Between the scotch, the scones and the scintillating sights, the Isle of Skye is truly a place that will make you want to stay forever. What excites you most about an Adventures by Disney Scotland vacation?

Discover Scotland’s Majestic Castles with Adventures by Disney

posted on February 3rd, 2015 by Andrae Gill, Adventures by Disney

Journey back in time and explore the authentic beauty of some of Scotland’s most noteworthy castles on an Adventures by Disney Scotland vacation. Full of mystery and enchantment, these castle walls offer intriguing stories for you to uncover!

canabd304958

Venture to Urquhart Castle and discover the mystery behind Nessie, the rumored Loch Ness monster. This mighty fortress has unbelievable views of Loch Ness. Travel there via canoe or motorboat. Either way, keep your camera at the ready!

agaabd293847

Here I am at Dunnottar Castle, the inspiration behind Merida’s castle in Disney•Pixar animated film Brave. Dunnottar Castle is perched on cliffs that rise high above the blue sea, overlooking what was once a strategic merchant route during the Middle Ages.

casabd394856

At Glamis Castle you’ll discover beauty and mystery. This castle was the setting for Shakespeare’s iconic play, Macbeth. You’ll be fascinated by tales of the castle and be awed by the captivating décor.

abdbag203948

You’ll also dine where Scottish monarchs, such as Queen Mary of Scots, have dined at Edinburgh Castle. Enjoy a festive affair, complete with live bagpipe music, and feel like royalty as you enjoy a delicious dinner in one of Scotland’s most beautiful castles.

Exploring enchanted castles is just one of the many activities offered on this nine-day, eight-night Adventures by Disney Scotland family vacation. Get all the details at AdventuresbyDisney.com.

Exciting Ways to Explore Italy with Adventures by Disney

posted on January 28th, 2015 by Amanda Adler, Public Relations Manager

I am the type of traveler who loves to explore new places. But if there is one place I feel like I could keep going back (and back again) to endlessly it’s Italy. From the ruins of Pompeii to the rolling hills of Tuscany and the to-die-for pizza pretty much everywhere, it’s hard for me to choose my favorite spot in this beautifully diverse country. Thankfully Adventures by Disney understands that, just as Rome wasn’t built in a day, exploring Italy’s treasures can be quite a daunting task. That’s why they offer several distinct vacations to this boot-shaped region.

How do you figure out which Adventures by Disney Italy vacation is right for you (and who’s saying you have to pick just one)? The first step is understanding what makes each trip unique. Here’s a snippet about what each vacation offers to help you get started. (WARNING: You will want to experience them all!)

gongon872681

Italy (Rome, Florence, Venice, Tuscany)
When you think of Italy you probably envision strolling through ancient ruins in Rome, marveling at the beauty of the rolling hills of Tuscany and gliding along Venetian canals. gongon892792

Italy with the Amalfi Coast (Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, Capri, Naples, Florence, Tuscany, Lucca, Pisa, Siena)
When it comes to charm it’s pretty hard to top the Adventures by Disney Italy with the Amalfi Coast vacation. gongon778333

Italy and Switzerland (Lake Como, Lucerne, the Alps, Zermatt)

A Morning View From Angkor Wat with Adventures by Disney

posted on January 26th, 2015 by Amanda Adler, Public Relations Manager

Topping the list of places I want to visit someday is Angkor Archaeological Park in Cambodia, so I found it only fitting that the first entry from Adventures by Disney in the new Disney Parks Blog “sunrise” series be this shot from the famed Angkor Wat. “Wat” means “temple,” and guests can explore it by foot, via tuk-tuk and even while riding an elephant on an Adventures by Disney trip to Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. What fun for our guests!

On which Adventures by Disney vacation would you most like to see the sunrise?
