Six Scrumptious Desserts Debut for Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration

posted on June 1st, 2015 by Pam Brandon, Disney Parks Food Writer

It’s a party, so you’re allowed to eat dessert first. For the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, here are six new sweets for 60 years, and they’ll stay on the menu throughout the celebration.

Disneyland Park Diamond Lemon Cupcake at Jolly Holiday Bakery Café – This lemony cupcake has white chocolate crunchy pearls, strawberry filling and is topped with white chocolate Champagne mousse, blue buttercream decoration, blue chocolate curls, silver coated white chocolate pearls and a chocolate “D.” Almost too pretty to eat!

DLDCT759741

Disney California Adventure Park Diamond Orange Cupcake at Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Café – If you prefer orange, try this cupcake with chocolate crunchy pearls, mixed berry filling and a topping of cream cheese Bavarian mousse. The decoration is pretty silver dust pearls, blue buttercream trim and a chocolate diamond. Yum!

DLDCT759742

Diamond Tiramisù at Wine Country Trattoria, Disney California Adventure Park – This is a fancy sweet ending: layers of tiramisù made from sweetened Italian mascarpone, Marsala wine and espresso-soaked ladyfingers topped with cocoa powder and finished with chocolate curls and espresso sauce.

DLDCT759743

Meyer Lemon Crème Brûlée Tart at Blue Bayou Restaurant, Disneyland Park – Tangy and creamy Meyer lemon crème brûlée in a crunchy sweet tart shell topped with blueberry compote and a sparkly silver chocolate diamond – eat it or Instagram?

DLDCT759744

White Chocolate Bavarian Diamond Strawberry-Rhubarb Shortcake at Carnation Cafe, Disneyland Park – A little old-fashioned, a little upscale, this is smooth and creamy white chocolate Bavarian mousse shaped like a diamond resting on vanilla cake finished in a plate with a rich fresh strawberry-rhubarb sauce.

DLDCT759745

Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration Chocolate Cake – This crowd pleaser is found at Plaza Inn, Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante and French Market Restaurant in Disneyland park, Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta at Disney California Adventure park. Chocolate layer cake with caramel ganache, chocolate crunchy pearls, fleur de sel, apricot compote, Pabana mousse (banana, passion fruit, mango, lemon) and chocolate truffle mousse is topped with chocolate ganache and a sparkly silver chocolate diamond. Celebrate and share it with a friend!

Sixty Years of Innovation: ‘World of Color’ at Disney California Adventure Park

posted on May 29th, 2015 by Erin Glover, Social Media Director, Disneyland Resort

Let’s wrap up our look back at “Sixty Years of Innovation” at the Disneyland Resort with a nighttime spectacular that, in just five short years, has become an instant classic. “World of Color” opened at Disney California Adventure park in June 2010 and was immediately a fan favorite. Since its premiere, “World of Color” has been performed more than 2,600 times and experienced by more than ten million guests. Blending technology with classic storytelling, the show continues to change – with new Disney films, the holiday season, and now with the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration.

‘World of Color’ at Disney California Adventure Park

Five years from planning to opening, “World of Color” was envisioned to be a “living ‘Fantasia,’” using music, animation, color, light and water to immerse the audience in a storytelling journey. The scale of the show is massive, and the “dancing” fountains needed to bring it to life required innovations that the creative team was told were impossible. When they were told they couldn’t have fountains with multiple heads or moving heads, they created them. When they were told they couldn’t create color and light in the fountains, they found ways. Every piece of the show involved a new innovation.

‘World of Color’ at Disney California Adventure Park

The “stage” for “World of Color” was another innovation in itself: a platform composed of nearly 1 full acre of engineered superstructure, longer than a football field and capable of settling on three levels – one for the performance, one under the water surface and one for maintenance. The show features nearly 1,200 powerful and programmable fountains, and a vast underwater grid with more than 18,000 points of control. Each fountain has multiple points of control for lighting, color intensity, water angle, height and more.

Neil Patrick Harris and Mickey Mouse Host ‘World of Color - Celebrate!’ at Disney California Adventure Park

And now, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Disneyland Resort, “World of Color – Celebrate!” is hosted by award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris and the one-and-only Mickey Mouse, taking guests on a journey through the unparalleled imagination of Walt Disney to see how his extraordinary dreams came true.

Late-Night Snacking at the Disneyland Resort

posted on May 23rd, 2015 by Rachel Brent, Food & Beverage Marketing Communications Coordinator

dlr330am

We’re still having fun, but it’s time for a late-night snack! I found myself in need of a sugar boost, so I picked up some cotton candy in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Other ways to refuel include an out-of-this-world Breakfast Burrito from Tomorrowland Terrace in Disneyland park, filled with eggs, chorizo, pico de gallo, salsa, queso fresco, and black beans wrapped in a flour tortilla, served with fresh fruit.

Over in Disney California Adventure park, you won’t get ‘tired’ of The Insomniac from Award Wieners — a bacon, egg and sausage dog with pepper jack cheese, topped with a maple crunch.

What has been your favorite ‘taste’ of the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration 24-hour event?

New Artist Sketch Debuts for the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration

posted on May 23rd, 2015 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

dlr130am

Earlier today, I checked out Drawing Disneyland: The Early Years – Imagineers Who Helped Bring Walt’s Dream To Life exhibit at The Disney Gallery in The Disneyland Story presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln attraction. So I figured why not make the hop, skip and a jump over to Disneyana Gifts to see what else is happening – and I’m glad I did! Our talented teams of Disneyland Resort Sketch Artists have very busy creating what I consider a “diamond in the rough” – because it’s a sketch, of course. Take a look!

Special Tip: Have the artist add a personal touch to your sketch by adding a special date, name or message.

If you’re curious where to find the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration artist sketch and other favorites, visit Disneyana in Disneyland park or Off the Page in Disney California Adventure park.
