posted on December 4th, 2014 by Erin Glover, Social Media Director, Disneyland Resort

Hundreds of Disney Parks Blog readers braved the rain last night to attend the Disney Parks Blog Christmas in Cars Land Meet-Up at Disney California Adventure park. We started the evening with reserved viewing for “World of Color – Winter Dreams,” then we cruised over to Cars Land for our private, after-hours event.

carcar739002

We were even joined by Radiator Springs’ own resident superstar, Lightning McQueen!

carcar723693

Of course, no holiday meet-up would be complete without plenty of sugary snacks. Guests enjoyed a bounty of goodies from the selection of limited-time holiday treats now available at the Disneyland Resort.

Meet-up guests enjoyed all of the Cars Land attractions – Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, Radiator Springs Racers and Luigi’s Flying Tires – many of us more than once. (Am I right?)

To paraphrase Lightning McQueen, we’re all winners when we make new friends – and every Disney Parks Blog meet-up is an opportunity for just that. Here I am with one of my newest friends!

Between now and Christmas Day, Santa will be making stops throughout Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. Here are some of the places you’re bound to find him:

Be sure to consult the in-park Times Guide or ask a cast member to find out just when you can see Santa on the day of your visit, and have a wonderful ho-ho-holiday!

Baymax Joins the Ranks of Caramel Apples at the Disneyland Resort

posted on December 1st, 2014 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

For those of you who have seen the Disney animated film, “Big Hero 6,” I think you will agree with me that we all need more Baymax in our lives. Our Disneyland Resort Candy Makers felt the same way, so you can imagine my excitement and surprise when I was introduced to the newest hand-crafted apple inspired by the loveable healthcare companion.

bcadlr123456

Baymax has ‘sweet’ ninja skills, and I can tell you, this apple is even sweeter! Made with caramel, white chocolate, black licorice and candy-coated chocolates, I guarantee you will want to take this version of Baymax home with you.

Look for this special addition to our candy kitchens at Candy Palace on Main Street, U.S.A., as well as Hunny Spot in Critter Country in Disneyland park; Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure park and Marceline’s Confectionery in the Downtown Disney District.

Baymax, I’m pretty sure the famous ‘fist bump’ … Bada-lada-la … would apply here.

Christmas Trees of the Disneyland Resort

posted on November 28th, 2014 by Erin Glover, Social Media Director, Disneyland Resort

Some people shop, others finish off those leftovers; my day-after-Thanksgiving tradition is to decorate my Christmas tree. So, while I’m untangling strings of lights, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite Christmas trees here at the Disneyland Resort.

dlrdlr826551

We’ve got to start with the big one – Main Street, U.S.A. Towering 60 feet tall and covered with more than 1,800 ornaments, this iconic tree is the focal point of the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort.

dlrdlr873692

This may be as close to a Christmas tree as you’re going to get in the heart of darkness. You’ll get the point in the end on the Jingle Cruise.

dlrdlr826993

Over at Disney California Adventure park, Buena Vista Street boasts its own impressive Christmas tree, featuring vintage-style ornaments inspired by the 1920s and ‘30s.

dlrdlr725894

Even Stanley gets in the holiday spirit with this hubcap-adorned tree in Cars Land.

dlrdlr826885

And finally, the hotels of the Disneyland Resort each feature their own beautiful holiday decorations, like the enormous tree in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

Which Christmas tree at the Disneyland Resort is your favorite? Tell us in the comments!

And across the street, Sarge puts the spirit in the season with a patriotic display that guarantees fireworks every night.

Made With Magic Items Now Available at Disney Parks

posted on November 25th, 2014 by Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager

MWM690031

I’m happy to announce that Made With Magic items are now available at Disney Parks. You may recall my recent Disney Parks Blog article about Made With Magic, the new name for products that light up and interact with select Disney experiences at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts. I recently visited Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to get a first hand look at these new products.

MWM690032

As the sun set on another beautiful Florida day, I saw these items in action at the top of the Hollywood Hills Theater just before seating opened for the first Fantasmic! show. We currently offer a Disney ear hat, a Minnie Mouse headband and a Sorcerer Mickey wand. A light-up Mickey Mouse glove will be coming to Disney Parks in spring 2015. Each Made With Magic item has a retail of $25.00 (that retail includes tax).

MWM690033

My favorite item is the Sorcerer Mickey wand as it has the ability to change other Made With Magic items. It’s pretty easy to use. To change the color patterns on the wand, press the artist pallet button. Once you find a color pattern you like, you can press the wand button to change other Made With Magic items. I changed an entire display of Disney ear hats with just one wand (I wonder if I can use this wand to clean up my apartment as that would be amazing).

Look for these items in select merchandise locations at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and at Magic Kingdom Park in Florida. Guests in California can find these items in various merchandise locations in Disneyland park and in Disney’s California Adventure park.

The Beautifully Disney ‘Frozen’ Collection Debuts at Disney Parks

posted on November 21st, 2014 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

A flurry of excitement is swirling at Disney Parks. Why? The ‘cool’ new collection from Beautifully Disney debuting in stores now will undoubtedly melt your heart with its spectrum of colors inspired by the award-winning film, “Frozen.”

FBC793384

New to the collection this year is the Rollerball Eye Shadow set. Designed with rollerball tip for effortless application, the lightweight, shimmering silver-toned Elegant Ice and golden-toned Sparkling eye shadows glide on with seamless precision for illuminated eyes. The shimmery loose shadows add dimension and light, creating a delicate dance of glistening crystals for your eyes. Tip: Simply glide the rollerball directly onto the eyelid for a subtle touch of glamour.

Do you want to build … the perfect manicure? The whimsical winter colors of Spiraling Snow, Magnificent Power, Frozen Queen and Miss Royal Pants will help you do just that! Sparkling Snow is, of course, one of my favorites as it leaves me with a glittering feeling of fallen snowflakes on my fingertips. Those who are a bit more daring might find Magnificent Power a bit cooler for their taste.

One of this year’s must-have items includes the newly designed eye shadow palette featuring eight different shades ranging from warm earth tones to fun frosty hues. Discover the magic inside as you mix and match colors to create your own look. Tip: Use colors like Crystal Snowflake and Powers Unleashed to create a classic and regal looking cat-eye. Or try shades like Touched By Magic and Follow Your Heart for a simple yet elegant twist.

FBC793385

Your look is almost complete … the final touch: the lips. Find which one of the mini-lipstick sets suits your style, whether it is the soft pink of Regal Beauty, the rich mauve of Radiant Heart, the vibrant fuchsia of Queen To Be or the daring violet shade of Optimistic. Tip: These mini lipsticks are easy to take with you and create the perfect application for any occasion.

Look for this new collection and other fan favorites in stores now at the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts, including the following locations:

  • Downtown Disney DistrictDisney Vault 28
  • Disneyland park – Disney Clothiers
  • Disney California Adventure park – Elias & Co.
  • Walt Disney World Resort

  • Downtown Disney MarketplaceMarketplace Co-OpBeautifully Disney
  • I know this new collection is on my list of things to pick up this holiday season. Is it on yours?

Disney Parks After Dark: Things That Spin in the Night at Disneyland Resort … Revisited

posted on November 20th, 2014 by Paul Hiffmeyer, Chief Photographer for Public Relations, Disneyland Resort

Back in 2011, I started a Disney Parks Blog series called “Things That Spin In the Night.” It featured motion-blurred images of attractions at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks. I thought it would be fun to revisit that series today.

The photos from “Things That Spin In the Night” included after-dark images of Astro Orbitor, Mad T Party, Mickey’s Fun Wheel, Silly Symphony Swings, and the Golden Zephyr. I realized that there was a particular photo of the Golden Zephyr that I didn’t take the first time around. The first time, I focused more on getting three attractions in one photo. This time, I focused on getting the name of the attraction in the photo. As you can see, the Golden Zephyr sign in the front of the attraction is quite attractive, especially at night when it has a blue glow.
