All in the Details: Dopey Drops By Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom Park

posted on April 10th, 2014 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

Look who just stopped by New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park to check on the progress of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train attraction – it’s Dopey!

The attraction, which is still under construction, tells the story of “Seven Dwarfs Mine Train” from the perspectives of the Dwarfs. Positioned just behind Dopey in this photo, you can catch a glimpse of the “big drop” in the attraction, which takes place just after guests journey through the Dwarfs’ mine.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is scheduled to open later this spring (exact date is still yet-to-be-announced). In the meantime, what aspect of this attraction are you most excited to see for yourself? The mine? The view from the top? Tell us in the “Comments” section below!

This week’s look inside Seven Dwarfs Mine Train comes to us from Yellow Shoes Creative Group, a team that is currently working on some of the advertising for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

This week, the team sent us a full version of a CGI video that takes you on a colorful ride through part of the attraction. A portion of this was shared during “The Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade” broadcast back in December – check out the full version below.

Is it just me, or do you suddenly have a very strong interest in gemstones?

All in the Details: Jewel Sorting & More Inside Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Queue at Magic Kingdom Park

posted on April 3rd, 2014 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

Today’s look inside Seven Dwarfs Mine Train takes a peek into an area we haven’t shared much about yet – the attraction’s queue, which features a few interactive opportunities for guests.

SDD0877443

According to our friends from Walt Disney Imagineering, first up inside the interactive queue is a jewel sorting station. As the jewels flow by in a 15-foot wooden sluice, guests will be able to drag them into different trays, matching them by color and shape (the gems come in four different sizes and six colors). Something to look for here is that a melody from the film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” can be created when guests move from spigot to spigot. There are 12 spigots, inspired by the Dwarfs’ woodland friends, that each correspond to the notes of a musical scale.

Later on in the queue, guests will pass the Vault room. According to our friends at Imagineering, this is a nod to a scene in the film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” in which one of the dwarfs hangs a key just outside the mine’s Vault room door. Do you remember which dwarf this was? Tell us in the “Comments” section below!

All in the Details: The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Cottage Close Up at Magic Kingdom Park

posted on April 1st, 2014 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

This week’s look at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in New Fantasyland offers a close look at the Dwarfs’ cottage. According to our friends at Imagineering, guests aboard the Mine Train will whisk past the cottage just after the first big drop out of the mine scene.

The look of the cottage was inspired by the Dwarfs’ dwelling in the film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” As you can see, it has a thatched roof, thick beams, and charming carved details that serve as nods to the many forest friends Snow White and the Dwarfs have in the forest.

Be sure to check back this Thursday for another look at the details on this attraction.

All in the Details: The Changing Terrain of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom Park

posted on March 27th, 2014 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

Walking through New Fantasyland and watching the evolution of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train has been fascinating, seeing such a large attraction rise up from scaffolding and into a beautiful mountain covered with lush trees and colorful wildflowers. Let’s take a quick photo walk around it today with these shots.

Earlier this year, Walt Disney Imagineering shared that two props from the former Snow White’s Scary Adventures attraction had been placed in Seven Dwarfs Mine Train as a nod to the previous attraction. Those vultures can now be seen at the top of the first big “climb” in the attraction, surrounded by stacks of crates – containing newly mined jewels, perhaps?

Nearby, a Mine Train cart peeks out and is propped with mining tools and crumbling rock.

Overall, nearly the entire mountain has been covered with thick pine trees, poppy flowers and colorful shrubs.

Bringing Maleficent to Life for ‘Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade’ at Magic Kingdom Park

posted on March 26th, 2014 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

One of the highlights of the new “Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade” at Magic Kingdom Park is seeing Maleficent from “Sleeping Beauty” loom overhead in the form of an enormous, fire-breathing dragon.

We recently sat down with Parade Designer Richard Improta from Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Creative Entertainment, along with Tony Award-winning Production Designer Michael Curry, to discuss the inspiration behind this show-stopping float and their collaboration that brought Maleficent to epic life on the street.

All in the Details: The Big Drop at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom Park

posted on March 25th, 2014 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

This week’s photos from Seven Dwarfs Mine Train focus on the “big drop” in the attraction, just after you exit the interior Mine Scene. The top of the mountain is where you come out of the mine – and momentarily get an amazing view of the rest of the New Fantasyland area, including Beast’s Castle, Prince Eric’s castle and Cinderella Castle. (To see that view for yourself, be sure to check out this previously shared ride-through video of the attraction).

This shot was snapped at the end of the drop, which whisks Mine Train Cars past a rushing water fall.

It sure looks like the attraction is coming together! Will you ride when it opens later this spring? Let us know in the “Comments” section below.

Thanks to David Roark for the photos.
