posted on October 6th, 2014 by Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager

MMO88575

I’m delighted to announce that Memento Mori, the Haunted Mansion-themed merchandise shop, is officially open in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom Park. You may recall reading about this new location in early September on the Disney Parks Blog. Once considered the abode of Madame Leota, this shop is the destination for a variety of Haunted Mansion Authentic merchandise created especially for Disney Parks.

If you are planning a visit, here are a few important things to know:

  • There will be a purchase limit of six items per style, per guest, per day for products carried in the shop.
  • The new Haunted Mansion open edition pins will be carried in both Memento Mori in Liberty Square and Frontier Trading Post in Frontierland.
  • The Haunted Mansion-themed Dooney & Bourke bags will be released in Uptown Jewelers on Main Street, U.S.A. starting on October 6. They will not be found at Memento Mori or at Cherry Tree Lane at the Marketplace Co-Op in Downtown Disney Marketplace. For guests in California, the Dooney & Bourke bags will also be released on Monday, October 6 at Vault 28 in Downtown Disney District. There will be a purchase limit of two items, per style, per guest, per day.

Finally, the Disney Parks online store will also be carrying select items from the Haunted Mansion Authentic program beginning on October 6. I invite you to visit http://www.DisneyStore.com/HauntedMansion.

New Mickey’s Halloween Party Merchandise Coming to the Disneyland Resort

posted on September 9th, 2014 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

UPDATE 9/23/14: Please note that the Mickey’s Halloween Party pins, the Halloween Screams pin and our Annual Passholder pin featuring the Hitchhiking Ghosts will release on October 6, not September 26 as previously announced.

Beginning September 12, Halloween Time “spooks” into high gear at the Disneyland Resort. What does that mean exactly? Well, a few things that I look forward each year are the fall decor along Main Street, U.S.A., the pumpkins that have been carefully tucked away, anxiously waiting to be spotted, Halloween Carnival at Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree and of course, Mickey’s Halloween Party. I know some of the more popular dates are selling quickly so be sure to check Disneyland.com for updates, in case you are planning to ‘treat’ yourself this year!

mmmmmm8261111

You may have noticed that the art for this year’s Mickey’s Halloween Party merchandise looks vaguely familiar. A similar logo can be found on some of the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party merchandise that will be available at Walt Disney World Resort, as fellow Disney Parks Blog author Steven Miller recently shared.

If you are still unsure of what to wear, here are a few things to keep an eye out for at this year’s party, that might help. Mickey’s Halloween Party T-shirts will be available in youth, ladies and adult sizes. For those chilly nights, I suggest the zip fleece.

A few other treats to add to your stash include our open and limited edition pins. The Halloween Time 2014 pin will release on September 12, while the Mickey’s Halloween Party pins, the Halloween Screams pin and our Annual Passholder pin featuring the Hitchhiking Ghosts will release on September 26 October 6.

Look for Mickey’s Halloween Party merchandise and more at the following Disneyland park locations: Disney Showcase, Emporium, Pieces of Eight, Pioneer Mercantile and The Star Trader.

Are you ready to get into the festive spirit?

New Disney Pins and Accessories Round Out a Summer of Pins at Disney Parks

posted on September 8th, 2014 by Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager

augaug836551

This summer, I’ve been highlighting some of the 250 new pins and accessories created especially for Disney Parks. To conclude my three-part story, I’m again turning the spotlight on new items arriving in August and September at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.
augaug739912

One of the easiest (and most portable) ways to display Disney pins is by using a neck lanyard. We also offer a variety of trading bags including one of my new favorites pictured above. I love the colorful patchwork of logos that represent various icons and attractions from Disney Parks.

I’m also in love with the new four-pin set, featuring Carl and Elli from Disney•Pixar’s “Up.” The photograph-like pins are so adorable (I need to watch that film again!).
augaug378993

Fans of Disney’s “Tangled” will be delighted to see several new pins, featuring Rapunzel, Flynn Rider and other favorite characters from the animated feature. Look for both individual open-edition pins and some two-pin sets.
augaug368994

Finally, there are numerous places to find pins at Disney Parks. One of the newest locations can be found in The Chapeau hat shop on Main Street, U.S.A., in Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort. I stopped by the location the other day to take some photographs. This new location is a great addition to the well-established main pin location in Magic Kingdom Park – Frontier Trading Post in Frontierland.

Happy Trading!

Exclusive Merchandise Revealed for Destination D: Attraction Rewind

posted on September 4th, 2014 by Jeffrey Epstein, Manager, Marketing

A few months ago, D23, Disney’s Official Fan Club, unveiled some of the exclusive merchandise that will be available at Destination D: Attraction Rewind this fall at Walt Disney World Resort. The event, which takes place November 22 and 23, celebrates beloved attractions and entertainment of yesteryear while also looking at what’s to come with Disney Legends, luminaries and Imagineers.

Just for the occasion, Mickey’s of Glendale — the famous Walt Disney Imagineering store — is setting up a pop-up shop with exclusive merchandise just for event attendees. Earlier this summer, D23 previewed a few of the items that will be available, and now we are happy to share even more of the collection here on the Disney Parks Blog.

Exclusive Merchandise for Destination D: Attraction Rewind

In addition to all this, there will be a Mystery Box pin set featuring the Pleasure Island club marquee logos including Mannequins Dance Palace, Comedy Warehouse, 8TRAX, Pleasure Island Jazz Co., Rock ‘n’ Roll Beach Club, and Adventurer’s Club.

And just wait … there’s even more to come! So pick up your tickets today.

New Merchandise Coming to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom Park

posted on September 2nd, 2014 by Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party returned to Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort on September 1, 2014. This fun Halloween-themed event runs select nights from 7:00 p.m. to midnight through October 31. I’ve attended the event a few times during my time with Disney. It’s fantastic! I love that so many guests dress in costume and the entertainment is outstanding (okay, I’m also a big fan of the candy). This year, guests should look for some commemorative items created especially for this event, including apparel, pins, and, for the first time, a limited-edition graphic MagicBand.
mhhhhh389991

Presented in a decorative box, the limited-edition graphic MagicBand will include the event logo. It will have an edition size of 5,000 and will retail for $29.95 (plus tax). Guests must present one of the following for the MagicBand to be linked to at the time of purchase: valid theme park admission, Memory Maker card or an active MagicBand.
839002mhhhhh

Guests attending the event will also find a few apparel items for adults and kids, including both long and short sleeved options plus a ladies’ cut T-shirt. A slightly altered event logo was used for the limited-release pin.
mhhhhh359923

Speaking of pins, guests should look for a couple of different things, including individual limited-edition pins (Chip ‘n’ Dale with Clarice is my favorite), a boxed set, a framed set, and a limited-release mystery pin set.
mhhhhh343794

One final item wasn’t created specifically for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party but I thought it was perfectly themed for the event. It’s a limited release, graphic MagicBand that contains the infamous wallpaper from the Haunted Mansion attraction (retail is $24.95 plus tax). This item will also have to be linked at the time of purchase just like the aforementioned limited-edition graphic MagicBand.

Please visit the following Magic Kingdom Park locations to find these products:

Please note the Haunted Mansion-themed graphic MagicBand will only be sold at Magic Kingdom Park at this time. Guests do not have to attend Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in order to purchase it.

Quick Merchandise Tips for August at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa

posted on August 15th, 2014 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

Whether you are going to Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa for the first time or making a return trip this August, here are a few key things you might want to keep an eye out for.

Up first are a couple of pins you could say are filled with ‘character.’ Chip n’ Dale Paddling and the Aulani ~ Mickey Mouse logo pin will release in mid-September. Tip: Pins make great souvenirs if you are looking for something to commemorate your stay at Aulani. They also make the perfect gift for a loved one back home.

Aulani ~ Mickey Mouse Logo Pin Chip n’ Dale Paddling Pin

Debuting later this summer is our Aulani-inspired Alex and Ani bangle in Rafaelian Gold finish. Those of you who have seen my recent posts on Alex and Ani bangles know that I’m already jealous since this particular bangle will only be available at Aulani.

Look for these wonderful treasures and more at Kālepa’s Store. What souvenir will you take home to represent your Aulani vacation?

Sneak Preview of Merchandise for 2014 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival

posted on August 5th, 2014 by Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager

FWM8066841

I’m counting down the hours until I can taste my way around the 2014 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. This annual event returns to Epcot from September 19 through November 10, 2014. I’m already planning on being at the kick-off weekend to celebrate my birthday week (I’m sure I’m not the only one who celebrates her or his birthday all week long). After reading Pam Brandon’s article about new offerings this year, I caught up with the merchandise events team for a sneak preview of festival merchandise.

FWM8066842

This year, I found two different art programs – “Taste Your Way Around the World” and “Brews Around the World” – that will be featured on a variety of items. Guests should look for several familiar favorites including Chef Duffy the Disney Bear, a coffee mug and apparel items like hats. One of my favorite things is the specially designed food tray that was originally introduced in 2012. This new design includes a place to hold beverages and plenty of space for food.

FWM8066843

The Disney pin trading team created some cool limited edition pins that are presented on recipe cards. One features Jessica Rabbit with a recipe for Carrot Cake, while the other has Mickey Mouse that explains how to make Cheddar Breakfast Potatoes (now I’m hungry!). Speaking of recipes, we will also carry a new cookbook that my fellow author Pam announced in this Disney Parks Blog story.

FWM8066844

Finally, I liked this reusable tote bag that contains both merchandise logos.

Look for these items and more in the Festival Center, which will be located between Universe of Energy and Mission: SPACE pavilions in Future World. Select items may also be found at merchandise kiosks throughout World Showcase once the festival opens in mid-September. We will not be offering merchandise via our Disney Parks online store this year.

I hope to see you at Epcot!

Haunted Mansion 45th Anniversary Pin Releases at the Disneyland Resort

posted on August 4th, 2014 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

Foolish mortals, I have good news for you. I have been digging up as much information as I could on commemorative merchandise that has been created in celebration of the 45th anniversary of the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland park. As the gatekeeper to your pin collection, it’s up to you to determine if there is room for one more. Here’s a look at what I was able to unearth in regards to limited edition pin releases taking place on August 7.

thmpdl123456

The pins shown above will be available at the following Disneyland Resort locations:

This next collection is sure to send you packing. A limited edition of 300, this boxed set featuring Ezra, Gus, Phineas and the Hatbox Ghost in the mirrors, comes complete in a suitcase inspired box. Also available will be a Jumbo Poster Pin and a Framed Pin Set featuring Haunted Mansion inspired keys. Tip: These items will only be available to purchase at Disney Pin Traders in the Downtown Disney District. Wristband distribution guidelines will apply.

lempsd123456

Now, I always like an air of mystery, especially when it comes in the form of a limited release Mystery Pin Set which features iconic characters throughout the attraction, including the Hitchhiking Ghosts, the Bride, Dueling Portraits, Hatbox Ghost, and Madame Leota.

mmphmd123456

Before I go, I couldn’t resist sharing this next group of pins featuring some of our most dastardly Disney Villains in their own interpretations of the Haunted Mansion stretching portraits. As you can see Cruella DeVil, Horace and Jasper, Captain Hook, the Queen of Hearts and Cheshire Cat, as well as the one and only Maleficent, are positively haunting in these famed portraits.

mppdlr123456

Look for these pins at select pin purchasing locations at the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts, later in the month on August 21.

Which ones are you ‘dying’ to get?

Spotlight on New Pins Arriving in July 2014 at Disney Parks

posted on July 24th, 2014 by Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager

pinnnn356221

This summer, the Disney pin team is releasing about 250 new items for guests to collect or trade at Disney Parks. It’s time to turn the spotlight once again on some new pins coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts this month. I spoke with Erin Catalano, the merchandiser behind many of these pins, about some of her favorite selections.

pinnnn689322

“There are so many favorite pins we are releasing this month,” exclaimed Erin. “I love the new four-pin chalkboard art set featuring characters from Walt Disney’s ‘Alice in Wonderland.’ The set reminds me of the chalkboard art-inspired home goods found in the Marketplace Co-Op at Downtown Disney Marketplace in Florida. I also like the vintage Mouseketeer logo as it recall watching the Mickey Mouse Club when I was younger. Finally, Disney’s ‘Hercules’ is one of my favorite animated films, so I included a pin with Hercules and Meg.”

I was happy to see that Blank and Bow, the adorable Vinylmation figures from Valentine’s Day this year, will come to life in pin form.

I also recently spotted the Anna and Elsa pins at Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post & Frozen Funland in Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the Frozen Summer Celebration. Those pins are also available in a handful of other locations at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.

pinnnn000923

Speaking of Anna and Elsa, their shoe-inspired ornaments are included in a multi-pin set that contains other character-inspired shoes.

pinnnn646444

Finally, I pulled together an image of Chip ‘n’ Dale pins as I thought my fiancée would enjoy seeing them (she’s a super fan of those chipmunks). I also know there are a few fans that will be delighted to see a new “Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers” pin (sing along with me … Ch-ch-ch-ch-Chip…).

Look for these pins in a variety of Disney pin locations at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.
