Space Mountain-Themed Products Are Clear for Launch at Disney Parks

posted on January 19th, 2016 by Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager

One of my favorite attractions at Walt Disney World Resort is Space Mountain because I’ve dreamed of being an astronaut. This classic Disney attraction in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom Park opened on January 15, 1975. During many family trips, you would typically find me hanging out in the attraction queue listening to the out-of-this-world music loop. To commemorate this year’s anniversary, I visited the Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. shop to survey some Space Mountain themed merchandise we offer at Disney Parks.

In the first image, I’m wearing a new shirt coming to the Disney Parks online store from January 25-31, 2016. Disney Design Group artist Richard Terpstra created the artwork for this retro-looking, ringer tee based on Space Mountain promotional artwork from the 1970s. To order this shirt starting January 25, please visit Please allow 3-5 weeks for delivery.

While at the shop, I discovered a variety of other shirts for adults and kids along with space-themed hats.

One of my favorite shirts features two astronauts riding Space Mountain. It reminded me of the astronauts once found outside the Florida attraction’s entrance.

Other items at the location include a frame, a space-themed Attractionista doll named Celeste, and artwork by Dave Perillo titled “Trip of Tomorrow Today.” The latter is being offered as a framed print, matted print and postcard.

At the shop, guests can create and personalize a D-Tech on Demand phone case or a retail MagicBand with Space Mountain artwork.

Finally, there is a new Vinylmation mystery set called “Mickey and Friends in Space” coming to Disney Parks on January 29. This limited release set was designed by Disney Design Group artist Costa Alavezos. Once released, look for it in select merchandise locations at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.

You may find and order select Space Mountain items using the free Shop Disney Parks mobile app. To download this app, please visit

Awaken the Force in 2016 with Unique Star Wars Products from Disney Parks

posted on January 14th, 2016 by Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager

Being a long time Star Wars fan, I loved watching “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” with my son in an IMAX 3D theatre. While I had already seen the film twice, I will always remember seeing the pure joy in his eyes as the action unfolded on screen. Now, he wants everything Star Wars (which seems vaguely similar to my childhood). Luckily, I work at Disney Parks which has some incredibly cool products for Star Wars fans of all ages. Here are a few of my favorites.

Force Push Role Play Action Set from Disney Parks BB-8 Spinning Top from Disney Parks

Force Push Role Play Action SetThis is my favorite item created especially for Disney Parks. This set gives you the power to move a First Order Stormtrooper or TIE Fighter with a wave of your Force Glove.

BB-8 Spinning Top – This BB-8 top spins, lights up and makes sounds when activated.

Star Wars Apparel from Disney Parks Star Wars Apparel from Preen by Thornton Bregazzi Available at Disney Parks

Be the Best Dressed in the Galaxy – Disney Parks has apparel items for women, men and children. The women’s shirts with Rey are gorgeous, and the BB-8-inspired dress from Her Universe is fun. I also liked the ringer t-shirt with Han Solo and Chewbacca.

Apparel From Preen by Thornton Bregazzi – We are now offering two luxurious items from Preen by Thornton Bregazzi. Look for them at Keystone Clothiers in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort or The Star Trader in Disneyland park at the Disneyland Resort.

Star Wars Accessories at Disney Parks Star Wars Accessories at Disney Parks

These Are the Accessories You’re Looking For – From Dooney & Bourke handbags to shoes that resemble Darth Vader, there are many accessories available to complete any out-of-this-world outfit. I particularly like the scarf with vintage Star Wars artwork as it reminds me of bed sheets I had as a child.

Star Wars Name Tags – Guests can create personalized name tags with their names written in Aurebesh, one of the alphabets used in the Star Wars galaxy. There is also a name tag designed especially for Annual Passholders. Look for these name tags at Watto’s Grotto in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida or Tomorrowlanding in Disneyland park in California.

Disney Pins and Vinylmation Figures
– Guests will find new Disney pins to collect or trade including a mystery pin set. We also released a limited release Vinylmation mystery set with eight figures. You won’t know which one you’ve got until you open the box.

Star Wars Items Available at Launch Bay Cargo CAPTION

Launch Bay Cargo – One of the coolest destinations for collectible merchandise is Launch Bay Cargo. This location is found at both Disneyland park in California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida. Guests can find replica costumes, light up Lightsaber umbrellas, toys, collectibles and more. Holidays For Your Home Collection Returns to Disney Parks With New Products

posted on November 18th, 2015 by Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager

With holiday decorations returning to Disney Parks, I’ve started thinking how I’m going to decorate my place this year. One of my favorite collections introduced last year was the nostalgic Home For Your Holidays collection. This popular line of decorative holiday items included ornaments, pillows, home goods and more. I’m happy to report that many items offered last season, including the fun vintage holiday blub necklace shown above, have returned along with some new options.

The Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom Park had several items available from this collection including the tree skirt, holiday cards and decorative apron. I also found the new assortment of gift bags that are perfect for gift giving this year.

A doorknob banner is also new this year. One side of the banner states “Joy from the World” with Mickey Mouse, while the other side features Minnie Mouse celebrating from the “Merriest Place on Earth.”

Mickey and Minnie Mouse can be found on a ceramic mug set and in a 3-inch Vinylmation figure set this year. One of the more unique items is a translucent Mickey icon ornament that lights up, illuminating the retro-styled artwork.

I’m looking forward to trying some gourmet cocoa with flavors such as Cinnamon Cookie, Candy Cane and Chocolate S’Mores.

Look for these items and more in select Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort merchandise locations. You may also find select items on the Disney Parks online store under the “Disney’s Days of Christmas” section. Lastly, I invite you to try the free Shop Disney Parks mobile app that gives you access to thousands of products created especially for Disney Parks.

Shopper’s Guide to the Disney Dream Store at D23 EXPO 2015

posted on August 10th, 2015 by Michelle Harker, Manager, Merchandise Marketing & Communications, Disneyland Resort

D23 EXPO 2015 at the Anaheim Convention Center is just days away! If you’ve been reading the Disney Parks Blog, then you already have details on some of the D23 EXPO logo merchandise, collectibles, artist signings and more. Here’s a look at some of the merchandise you’ll find as well as some tips on what you need to know before you go shopping in the Disney Dream Store (located in Hall A).

I consider these first items quite the “ticket.” That’s because they have actually been inspired by Disneyland park ticket patterns of year’s past. You’ll find the elements of the art on a Walt’s Kingdom tee, mug, toothpick holders, a car magnet pack, button/lanyard set, and even on our HARVEYS bags and wallets. D-Tech fans will delight in the new phone cases available this year themed to D23 EXPO 2015 and the 60th Anniversary of the Mickey Mouse Club—look for similar art to appear on tees as well. Tip: D-Tech cases will be available in iPhone 6, iPhone 6plus and Samsung Galaxy S5.

Is your head spinning? You’ll be in for one wild ride when you pick up the much anticipated Mr. Toad limited edition 10” plush. This is the second in the series of four plush that is being released for the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration. Of course, you can quench your thirst for this year’s D23 EXPO merchandise with the Everyone’s A Character stainless steel 22 oz. water bottle. You’ll look cool and stay hydrated throughout the weekend’s festivities.

If it’s a statement you’re looking to make this year, the D23 EXPO Castle Foam Hat will certainly do the trick! Tip: Don’t worry, there’s actually a chin strap that will help hold it in place. Or if you’re feeling “Goofy,” like we were, add some character to special D23 EXPO moments with the Photo Prop Set. Be sure to share your photos across all social channels using #D23EXPO.

I know you’re curious to find out about D23 EXPO vinylmation and pins, so I won’t make you wait any longer. There will be several new Vinylmation debuting themed to Aristocats, Fantasia, Pinocchio and more. As for pins, you will find limited edition and limited release pins, a boxed set, jumbo pin and mystery set. Here are a couple of pins that caught my attention.

A few additional reminders before you go!

  • If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to bring the magic of merchandise to life, join us August 14 at 1:30 p.m. in Stage 28, as we take you from concept to reality with behind-the-scenes storytelling about classic Disney souvenirs.
  • On August 15, look for a very special release taking place only at the Disney Dream Store. What is it? They have been ‘forcing’ me to tell you, but I can’t, I can simply state, it’s out of this world.
  • New this year is StorePass which will be available for select D23 EXPO shopping locations. Find out more details here.

Summer of Souvenirs Continues with New Items at Disney Parks

posted on August 4th, 2015 by Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager

At the beginning of June, I announced a summer of new souvenirs at Disney Parks with a preview of decorative hand sanitizers. Now that the hand sanitizers are available in a variety of merchandise locations at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts, here is a look at other new and upcoming items.

The D-Tech on Demand boutique inside the Marketplace Co-Op at Downtown Disney Marketplace recently made available two designs for fans of ABC’s hit television show “Once Upon a Time.” Guests can create and customize a case for the following mobile phones: iPhone 4/4S, iPhone 5/5S/5C, iPhone 6/6+, Samsung Galaxy SIII, Samsung Galaxy S4/S5/S6.

We are also offering a few pre-printed cases for the Samsung Galaxy S6 in select locations at Disney Parks.

One of my favorite things being released this month is a Vinylmation, Jr. set inspired by Adventureland. This limited release mystery set contains 12 figures featuring characters such as birds from Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room and, my all-time favorite, the Orange Bird. The set will be released at the D-Street locations in Florida and California starting August 7.

In the coming months, we will be releasing a variety of new key chains. The first three feature mini-handbags that double as coin pouches.

I thought you’d enjoy seeing this sneak preview of Disney character inspired key chains arriving later this fall.

First Look at Commemorative Products for 20th Epcot International Food & Wine Festival

posted on July 27th, 2015 by Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager

The countdown is on to the start of my favorite event at Walt Disney World Resort – the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. The festival opens September 25 and runs through November 16, and will feature more than 30 global marketplaces (including some new experiences in Future World.) This year also marks the 20th time this event has been held at Epcot. Here is a first look at some of the merchandise commemorating this milestone anniversary.

There are three distinct art programs for this year’s merchandise. The World Showcase logo program includes icons from each of the 11 pavilions. The Disney character program will feature Mickey Mouse and, my favorite, Figment dressed as chefs. We will also offer a “Brews Around the World” assortment, a returning favorite from previous years.

Other returning favorite items include Vinylmation of the Swedish Chef from The Muppets, collectible pins on recipe cards, and three new Dooney & Bourke handbags. Guests will also find drinkware, four different appetizer plates, and some holiday ornaments.

I love the coffee mug that uses Figment’s tail as the handle. I also thought the bottle opener on the “Brews Around the World” baseball cap was creative. Finally, I was happy to see salt and pepper shaker trash cans which were inspired by items released last year in Disney Centerpiece at the Marketplace Co-Op.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for details about a new activity called “Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak” that includes limited release pins.

The best place to find many of these items starting September 25 will be in the Festival Center. This location will be found in Future World between Universe of Energy and Mission: SPACE pavilions. Additional merchandise locations throughout World Showcase will also carry select items. There are no plans at this time to carry these items on our Disney Parks online store.

Do you have a favorite item? Please share in the comments below.

I hope to see you at Epcot this fall.

Super Hero Headquarters Assembles at Downtown Disney West Side in Walt Disney World Resort

posted on June 5th, 2015 by Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager

A new retail location, Super Hero Headquarters, recently opened in Downtown Disney West Side at Walt Disney World Resort.

Enthusiasts and emerging super hero fans alike will find merchandise featuring their favorite super hero characters, including action figures, collectibles, apparel, costumes, accessories and Vinylmation.

When I recently visited the shop, I was excited to see several items from my favorite film from last summer, “Guardians of the Galaxy”.

The location also carries a selection Disney Infinity figures and playsets.

In addition to the numerous super hero offerings, I loved the little details found throughout the shop. The clocks above the main entrance were a nice touch, especially the one showing the time in Tahiti.

Super Hero Headquarters is located adjacent to D Street in Downtown Disney West Side.
