Valentine’s Day Proposals: “Yes” Happens Here

posted on February 13th, 2016 by Korri McFann, Worldwide Marketing & Business Development Director, Weddings & Honeymoons

Love is always in the air here at Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings, so it will come as no surprise that Valentine’s Day just may be my favorite holiday. Throw three incredible Disney Parks proposals in the mix and you had me at hello! Full of excitement, love and a few understandable jitters we’re celebrating my favorite holiday by sharing a few Walt Disney World engagements that took place just in time for Valentine’s Day. These grooms-to-be prove that true love really is the most powerful magic.

From carriage rides (can you say romantic?) to dining in Cinderella Castle, we’re honored to be the place so many couples make unforgettable memories and say “yes” each year. After all making wedding, honeymoon and engagement dreams come true is what we do.

Disney Weddings Celebrates 25 Years, Welcomes Engage!15 Luxury Wedding Business Summit

posted on November 20th, 2015 by Korri McFann, Worldwide Marketing & Business Development Director, Weddings & Honeymoons

This week, we had the honor and privilege of hosting Engage!15, a luxury wedding business summit, right here at the Walt Disney World Resort. This conference has been extra special for me as one of my very first leaders here at Disney was Rebecca Grinnals, co-founder of Engaging Concepts. She and Kathryn Arce are the masterminds behind this innovative, intensive conference that focuses on nurturing and igniting the entrepreneur in all of us.

We were able to share with the over 350 attendees what we do best here at Disney – surprise and delight. Sending the attendees to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party was definitely a conference highlight and we had the help of the entire Main Street Philharmonic Band, The Dapper Dans and Mickey Mouse himself to make this moment truly sparkle. And if that weren’t enough, we shared that Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons will be celebrating 25 years of fairy tales next year.

Be sure to stay tuned in 2016 for more details as we celebrate 25 years of weddings, honeymoons and happily ever afters.

Create Unforgettable Memories at Disney Parks This Fall with New Companion Shirts

posted on November 5th, 2015 by Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager

I recently stopped by China pavilion in World Showcase at Epcot to take a photo of two new companion shirts now available at Disney Parks. In recent years, we’ve released several companion tees including the extremely popular “I’ll Be Your Mickey” and “I’ll Be Your Minnie” shirts as seen in this previous Disney Parks Blog article. Here’s a look at other companion shirts I found at Disney Parks that may help you create some unforgettable memories during this fall season.

The Raglan tees shown above are a blend of 50% cotton and 50% polyester. They are a slightly different take on the previously mentioned “I’ll Be Your” shirts. Since I’m originally from Columbus, Ohio, I am a big fan of the red and grey colors used.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse are also featured on these Disney destination shirts. The Walt Disney World Resort shirts are shown above; shirts for Disneyland Resort are also available.

For those celebrating a Disney Fairy Tale Wedding or Honeymoon at Disney Parks, the bride and groom costume tees are a fun way to celebrate the special day.

Finally, we are continuing our online collection of Mickey and Minnie Mouse tees in November with four new designs. Two of the tees were inspired by the Matterhorn Bobsleds attraction at Disneyland park while the other two shirts feature the “wildest ride in the wilderness,” Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. These shirts will only be offered on our Disney Parks online store from Friday November 6, 2015 through Thursday November 12, 2015. Items will ship in 3-5 weeks. You can order these shirts by visiting http://www.DisneyStore.com/ParkEvents.

For select companion shirts seen in this article, you can download the free Shop Disney Parks app to order and have them shipped directly to your home (see this video article for details about using the app).

Disney’s ‘Frozen’ Fever at Bridal Fashion Week

posted on October 9th, 2014 by Korri McFann, Worldwide Marketing & Business Development Director, Weddings & Honeymoons

There’s something about New York City in the fall – the leaves are turning, the air is crisp … and there’s tulle. Everywhere! Bridal fashion week takes over Manhattan and it’s a chance for designers to preview their spring collections. This year was extra special for us here at Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings because we added a new dress to our traditional eight Disney princess-inspired gowns line up – Elsa from Disney’s “Frozen.” A true modern day bride, Elsa is bold and daring while remaining regal and elegant. And she’s the only queen that could bring snow – yes, snow – to the runway for our fashion show finale!

The Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings gowns will be available starting January 2015 in Alfred Angelo retail stores and are offered in signature colors in addition to white and ivory.

With imagery that scrolls over icing like a mini movie, Walt Disney World Resort wedding cakes can now be transformed with fully customizable image mapping projection technology. Whether you want to showcase a photo slideshow, home video or your favorite quote fondant is refashioned into an enchanted canvas that is sure to impress. But don’t take it from me, check out the video below and see for yourself.

Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings Unveils Elsa-Inspired Wedding Dress

posted on September 24th, 2014 by Korri McFann, Worldwide Marketing & Business Development Director, Weddings & Honeymoons

It’s time to “Let It Go” … down the aisle! We’ve teamed up with Alfred Angelo to create an Elsa-inspired bridal gown as part of the 2015 Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo bridal collection – and I couldn’t wait to share a sneak peek with you!

EWG066442

This high-fashion, conceptual sketch is an interpretation of Elsa’s signature “Snow Queen” dress featured in Disney’s “Frozen.” The ice blue softly flared sheath gown has been dramatically beaded to glisten like sunlight on fresh fallen snow and boasts a sweetheart neckline and dramatic Watteau train (a classic style that drapes from the shoulders to the floor). The gown will be available starting January 2015 at Alfred Angelo stores nationwide and specialty retailers worldwide.

Disneyland Resort Cast Members Help Make Cinderella’s Crystal Coach Accessible to Guests with Mobility Disabilities

posted on September 12th, 2014 by Melanie Vogel, External Communications Specialist, Disneyland Resort

Oregon couple Larry and Kelcie Ragsdale had the wedding of their dreams at the Disneyland Resort last week. The young couple’s lives changed in an instant when Larry’s car was hit by a drunk driver the night he was going to propose to Kelcie. He survived the crash but was left with severe head trauma that requires him to use a wheelchair. Thanks to their generous community, the couple was wed in a beautiful Disney Fairytale Wedding. The bride- and groom-to-be were transported like royalty to the ceremony in Cinderella’s crystal coach, thanks in part to the cast members who make up the CastABLE diversity resource group (DRG).

As you may have read in a recent Disney Parks Blog post about our military DRG, SALUTE, these groups serve as resources to the company and our cast by sharing the unique perspectives and contributions that diverse communities can offer. Cast members in CastABLE often work with Disney designers and technicians to ensure accessibility for guests with mobility disabilities. These cast members also worked with the Disneyland Resort Entertainment, Safety and Disney Fairytale Weddings teams to customize Cinderella’s crystal coach to allow for a portable lift system to transfer a person with mobility disabilities into the coach.

The team not only looked at safety requirements with the design of the ramp, transference and familiarization with the horses drawing the carriage, but also focused on staging the coach and beautifying the railings to ensure that the experience adds to each couple’s special day.

“They had already done a really good job of modifying the coach,” said CastABLE’s Michelle Beausoliel-Smith, part of the testing team. “We helped them better understand how a person with mobility issues would use the system. It is truly gratifying as a cast member and to be able to participate in those feedback sessions, and know that in a small way I’ve helped someone’s wedding dream come true.”
