Encounter Thor from ‘Thor: The Dark World’ This Fall at Disneyland Park

We’re less than a month away from the start of our Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Parties at Magic Kingdom Park. And this week, we shared some exciting details about this year’s event, including first word of the debut appearance of Jack Skellington and Sally (from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas”) at Magic Kingdom Park.

Trick-or-treating will be enhanced this year with more than 220 tons of candy on order, and Phineas and Ferb will also take charge of the Creepa Crew this year. There’s much more in Jennifer’s original story.

Parties will take place from 7 p.m. – midnight on September 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27 & 29; October 3, 4, 6, 10, 11, 14, 17, 18, 20, 22, 24, 25, 27, 29 and 31; and November 1. Prices vary based on event night. Buy tickets here.

Mark your calendars for September 21, 2013, as this is the first day the new collection will be available at the Walt Disney World Resort!

For guests in Florida, we will be holding a special release party on Saturday, September 21, at the World of Disney in Downtown Disney Marketplace. In California, guests can find these new items starting Monday, September 23, in select locations at the Disneyland Resort. Check Steven’s story for more details.

This week, Disney Parks Blog readers decided the name for the first Masai giraffe calf born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom – it’s “Mosi” (which means “first”).

This week’s celebration of “Christmas in July” on the Disney Parks Blog included a special announcement – a new show coming to “World of Color” for the holiday season. The show will feature new animation and effects. Steve Davison, vice president of Parades and Spectaculars, Walt Disney Imagineering Creative Entertainment, shared more details in Erin’s original story.

“World of Color – Winter Dreams” will begin November 15, 2013, at Disney California Adventure park.

This week, we celebrated the 58th anniversary of Disneyland Resort opening day – July 17, 1955. And in honor of the anniversary, the Disney Parks Blog shared some unique posts, including a slow- and fast-motion video of a Disneyland favorite – the “Magical” fireworks spectacular.

Behind the Wall: Update on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disneyland Park

It’s the final day of our “Limited Time Magic” Independence Week celebration. And during the week, we shared a series of stories, photos and videos on the Disney Parks Blog, including a look at Fourth of July fireworks from a new vantage point here at the Walt Disney World Resort.

We also shared a behind-the-scenes look at how a fireworks show is designed here at Disney Parks. It involves selecting music, playing with color, and choosing individual fireworks as carefully as if you’re choosing actors for a play – all to create one amazing story in the sky.

And did you hear? We announced that beginning on Friday the 13th in September, Disneyland Resort will get spookier again with the return of Halloween Time. And this year, Mickey’s Halloween Party, will expand to a spooky total of 13 nights at Disneyland park. Erin shared more Halloween dates and details in her original post, as well as a look at some of the fun waiting for you during Halloween Time.

Today is the the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room. And this week’s celebration on the Disney Parks Blog included new themed header images, a fun 50th anniversary blog logo and some amazing stories and images.

Erin also introduced us to the Tiki gods of the Enchanted Tiki Garden. These wooden residents of the garden outside the Enchanted Tiki Room were based on legends of the South Pacific and a few of our own Disney Legends even worked on them. To learn more, visit Erin’s original Tiki story.

Also this week, we officially reopened the Main Street Bakery at Magic Kingdom Park – a favorite stop for many Disney Parks Blog readers.
