Starting on May 22, Disneyland Diamond Cupcakes will be available at Jolly Holiday Bakery Café – a lemon-flavored cupcake representing the Victorian-era theme of Main Street, U.S.A. The Disney California Adventure Diamond Cupcake will be available at Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Café, featuring orange cake that represents the 1930s theme of Buena Vista Street.

Specialty drinks are also in the works to celebrate the milestone anniversary. My favorite? The Frozen Pomegranate Silver Sparkler from Jolly Holiday Bakery Café. Other delicious drinks include a special Lucky Fortune Tea featuring mango and red passion fruit at the Lucky Fortune Cookery, Wild Raspberry Rapids Frozen Lemonade from White Water Snacks, Enchanted Cherry Apple Frozen Lemonade from Troubadour Tavern, Honey Bee Frozen Lemonade from Hungry Bear Restaurant and more!

While we’ve already given you a taste of some of the new souvenir sippers and popcorn buckets to come, later this summer look for brand-new sippers that will allow guests to partake in the immersive Made with Magic experience in a whole new way. Make a splash with the “World of Color” sipper at Disney California Adventure park, or show your Disney Villain Side with a Chernabog sipper at “Fantasmic!” in Disneyland park.

I think you will agree that our teams have created offerings to delight all of the senses throughout the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration. Continue checking the Disney Parks Blog for more details and join the conversation with the hashtag #Disneyland60.

24-Hour Event to Launch Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, May 22-23

posted on March 11th, 2015 by Erin Glover, Social Media Director, Disneyland Resort

Thomas Smith told you earlier this morning about the upcoming 24-hour event to kick off the “Coolest Summer Ever” at Walt Disney World Resort, and I’m excited to follow up and let you know that we’re kicking off summer and launching the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration with a 24-hour event of our own, May 22-23!

Mickey Mouse and his Friends in their Pajamas in Front of the Main Street Train Station at Disneyland Park

The all-day/all-night celebration will begin at 6 a.m. on Friday, May 22 and will conclude 24 hours later at 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 23. The event will include dancing and special character encounters at locations in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks, along with enchanting Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration décor throughout the resort and, of course, the shows and attractions that our guests love.

Here’s a look at what is coming when the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration begins May 22:

  • “Paint the Night” Parade – After dark, along the Disneyland park parade route, 24-hour event guests will be among the first to see the new “Paint the Night” parade, showcasing beloved Disney characters in dazzling parade scenes illuminated with more than 1.5 million individually controlled lights – the first all-LED parade in Disneyland Resort history.
  • “Disneyland Forever” Fireworks – Disneyland park itself plays a starring role in the “Disneyland Forever” fireworks spectacular, also premiering during the 24-hour event. Breathtaking fireworks shows have long been a Disneyland Resort tradition and “Disneyland Forever” soars to new levels, immersing guests from the tips of their toes to the brilliant pyrotechnic bursts above, thanks to special effects that turn the storefronts of Main Street, U.S.A., the Matterhorn and the facade of “it’s a small world” into gigantic projection screens filled with color, characters and surprises.
  • “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” – Award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris and Mickey Mouse will be the hosts of the all-new “World of Color” show, premiering May 22 during the 24-hour event. “World of Color – Celebrate!” illuminates the night in a fun-filled and inspirational journey exploring Walt Disney’s decades-long legacy of memorable animated moments and his dream of Disneyland park.

We’ll be sharing more details as the 24-hour event draws closer, so keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog!

Tonight, Tom Staggs was joined on stage by Steve Davison, executive for parades and spectaculars with Walt Disney Imagineering Creative Entertainment, as they shared that during the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, Disney California Adventure park will present a special edition of the popular “World of Color” show.

Opening May 22, 2015, “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” illuminates the night in a contemporary and moving celebration of Walt and his dream of Disneyland, showing that anything is possible if we never give up on our dreams.

Mickey Mouse will take guests on a fun-filled and inspirational journey through the unparalleled imagination of Walt Disney, exploring his decades-long legacy of memorable animated moments and the dream of Disneyland park.

What are Your Disney California Adventure Park Must-Do’s?

posted on January 16th, 2015 by Erin Glover, Social Media Director, Disneyland Resort

Last week, we shared our Disneyland park must-do’s … and I’ve got to say, you all had some pretty good things to share. This week, let’s head over to Disney California Adventure park. These are my must-do’s – share yours in the comments!

Stop #1 – Red Car Trolley, Buena Vista Street

I love a nice stroll down Buena Vista Street, but the Red Car Trolley is the best way to see it in style. Read about the real-life inspiration behind this attraction in this post.

Stop #2 – Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream, Buena Vista Street

Clarabelle's Hand-Scooped Ice Cream at Disney California Adventure Park

Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream is the only place at the Disneyland Resort where you can get a customized, hand-dipped ice cream bar!

Stop #3 – Carthay Circle Restaurant and Lounge, Buena Vista Street

Carthay Circle Restaurant and Lounge at Disney California Adventure Park

Carthay Circle Restaurant is an amazing place to eat – the beautiful restaurant, the delicious food. But if you only have time for a quick stop, I recommend the downstairs lounge. I love the vintage-inspired cocktails.

Stop #4- Frozen Fun, Hollywood Land

frznnn654322

This is a brand-new addition to my list. “Frozen Fun” includes so much to do – and my favorite is “Olaf’s Snow Fest.” I grew up in Florida and now I live in Southern California, so playing in the snow is a genuine novelty for me.

Stop #5 – The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Hollywood Land

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure Park

This is one of my favorite Disney Parks attractions of all time, so yeah – must-do.

Stop #6 – Cozy Cone Motel, Cars Land

Some time ago, my friend Kelly and I demonstrated our love for all things at the Cozy Cone. Top of my list: Red’s Apple Freeze.

Stop #7 – Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, Cars Land

Did you think I was going to say Radiator Springs Racers? Well yeah, that’s an obvious one, but my absolute favorite attraction in Cars Land is Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree. It’s surprisingly intense but still great for kids … a perfect Disney Parks attraction.

Stop #8 – Alfresco Tasting Terrace, Pacific Wharf

I love this quiet spot, where you can almost forget you’re in a theme park. And the wonderful wines and delicious food just makes it even better!

Stop #9 – California Screamin’, Paradise Pier

The only roller coaster at the Disneyland Resort with an inverted loop is definitely a must-do!

Stop #10 – “World of Color

Even though it’s closed for refurbishment right now, this nighttime spectacular remains on the list. It’s continued to evolve throughout its nearly five-year run, and I’m amazed by it every time I see it.

That’s my list. Share yours!

‘World of Color’ Illuminates the Early Morning During the Rock Your Disney Side 24-Hour Event at the Disneyland Resort

7:00 a.m. EDT / 4:00 a.m. PDT

It’s hard to believe it’s almost been four years since the grand opening of “World of Color” at Disney California Adventure park! As an avid fan of the show (I think I saw it at least 50 times that opening summer), the 3 a.m. performance during the Rock Your Disney Side 24-hour event was at top of my must-see list.

For this special performance, guests had the option to enjoy breakfast at Wine Country Trattoria or Ariel’s Grotto for access to reserved viewing, grab a FASTPASS or even watch the show at home via live stream.

We still have two hours left for our 24-hour party to kick off summer at the Disneyland Resort! What has been your favorite memory so far?

VIDEO: How to Play the Fun Wheel Challenge at Disney California Adventure Park

posted on January 28th, 2014 by Erin Glover, Social Media Director, Disneyland Resort

A few months ago, we told you about a new, interactive game for Disney California Adventure park guests. Each night, before “World of Color,” guests can log on to play the Fun Wheel Challenge on their mobile devices. Competing against other park guests to match the color patterns, the winner gets to control the lights on Mickey’s Fun Wheel! We recently spent the evening on Paradise Pier to check it out for ourselves. Come along with us!

So the next time you’re waiting to watch “World of Color,” just join the PierGames Wi-Fi network from your mobile device, play the game within your device’s web browser – there are no apps to download. This special Wi-Fi network is available 45 minutes before the start of the first “World of Color” show each evening.

Have you played (or won) the Fun Wheel Challenge? Tell us about it in the comments!

How’d They Do That? ‘World of Color’ Honor Choir at Disney California Adventure Park

posted on December 23rd, 2013 by Valarie Sukovaty, Disneyland Public Relations

The new “World of Color – Winter Dreams” at Disney California Adventure park is a holiday version of the popular “World of Color” nighttime spectacular. It has new special effects and new music, and is making new holiday memories for our guests. It opens with the “World of Color” Honor Choir, a collection of beautiful voices submitted by Disney Parks fans from all 50 states. So, what’s the story behind how this choir was created online? The “World of Color” Honor Choir is directed by Grammy®-winning composer Eric Whitacre. He’s created many virtual choirs and we’re glad he helped create this one with us. A few months ago, participants submitted their voices through a special “World of Color” Honor Choir website, singing “Glow,” a song composed by Whitacre himself. Actually, I’ll let him explain how it all came together. Disney Parks Blog interviewed him online via live link from London. Enjoy!
