It’s been a big year here at the Disneyland Resort. From the changes on Main Street, U.S.A., to the newly refurbished Matterhorn – oh yeah, and the completion of the five-year expansion (link to microsite) of Disney California Adventure park – we’ve been pretty busy. Here’s a look at some of the top Disneyland Resort stories we’ve shared with you here on the Disney Parks Blog.

Happy holidays, everyone! Well, Christmas Day may have come and gone, but the holiday fun is still going strong here at the Walt Disney World Resort.

One of the great holiday traditions here at the Disneyland Resort is the Candlelight Ceremony and Processional. Featuring a cast member choir, as well as a full orchestra and other choirs from around Southern California, the ceremony in Town Square at Disneyland park is majestic.

The Toyland soldiers in either Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort holiday parades are a “must-see.” Watching them on our annual Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade is very cool, but experiencing them in person is even more amazing.

I love visiting World Showcase at Epcot during the holidays! There are so many yuletide traditions to enjoy including the beautiful Candlelight Processional at the American Gardens Theatre (I never tire of that show!). For as long as I’ve worked for Disney, I’ve done most of my holiday shopping each year in World Showcase. I have found many wonderful and unique gifts for my friends and family, all while pretending I’m an international jetsetter. This year, I was drawn to the festive Germany Pavilion (maybe it’s because I’m part German). Here is a look at a few items I found during a recent visit.

Hundreds of members of D23: The Official Disney Fan Club gathered at Walt Disney World Resort this past weekend to enjoy Magic and Merriment, D23’s holly jolly event. Magic and Merriment has grown so popular, the fan club offered the event twice this year!

Experiencing the Candlelight Processional at Epcot is something special to guests who behold it, the massed choir and 50-piece orchestra performing the music, and of course each A-list celebrity narrator who dramatically interprets the Nativity from the Gospel of Luke, the story of “Silent Night” and the classic essay, “One Solitary Life.”

It’s hard to get in the spirit of the holiday season when the calendar shows it’s December but the temperature in Orlando is 81 degrees. But last night I was able to feel the true magic of the season when, for the first time as a cast member, I experienced the Candlelight Processional at Epcot.
