Gary Vaynerchuk Offers Wine Tips at Epcot International Food & Wine Festival

With so many wines to choose from at this year’s Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, chances are you’ll find a favorite. But the star of Wine Library TV, Gary Vaynerchuk, says skip it — live a little and try something new.

Gary stopped by and shared tips on making the most of a Festival visit and your next sip of wine with Walt Disney World Moms Panelists Karen and Jackie. Explore new flavors and expand your palate, he says. Don’t find a Merlot you like and then order it every day for the rest of your life.

“If you are going to come here, which is a great decision, and have this opportunity to go and try different foods and wines, this is the perfect place for a wine tasting,” Gary says. “Don’t run to the most expensive Cabernet because you’ve had that before — that’s what everybody does.”

Once you find a new flavor, give it a smell. Gary says smelling a wine opens up your palate and primes it for the flavors. And between flavors, his best tip is to cleanse the palate with some regular lemon Italian ice.

  • I’m so disappointed I missed his visit. Please plan to bring him back next year!

  • Going to the Epcot Food and Wine was a great experience. We did try several new wines…which to me is the idea of going to any wine festival. I have to disagree a little with his philosophy of not going back to the same wine. If I find one I like, I do get it again. And I found one at the Food and Wine Festival that prompted me to buy a bottle.

I do agree that price should not be a factor in a wine purchase. Some of the best wines…to me…have been relatively inexpensive.

I am not, however, a great wine sniffer…its the taste that does it for me. If I like the taste, I’m going to try it again…and maybe again.

  • Gary is great. He’s always full of energy and has a huge amount of love for everything in life. Glad to see he was at the Food & Wine Festival this year.

  • Love @garyvee, nice to see him encouraging folks to try new things, one of my favorite things about the Food and Wine festival.
