If you enjoyed our video showing how Magic Kingdom Park transforms for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party then you’ll want to check out a special airing this weekend.

On Sunday, November 29 – HGTV will debut a new one-hour special, all about how Walt Disney World Resort cast members prepare the Parks for the Christmas holidays. The special is called Behind the Magic – Disney Holidays, and is hosted by Design Star champion and Color Splash host David Bromstad. The Disney Parks Blog camera crew caught up with David on location in the Magic Kingdom while shooting the show earlier this month.

HGTV’s Behind the Magic – Disney Holidays premieres November 29, 2009 at 8 pm in both the Eastern and Pacific time zones. (Check your local listings.) If you miss it, the special is scheduled to run again at 3 am E/P as well as December 11, 20, 24 and 25.

  • AWESOME SHOW!!!!! Recorded it and watch it all the time. We go to Disney every year the day after thanksgiving for 10 days LOVE Christmas in Disney HATE to leave =[

  • This was a great special! It was fun to see how the major parks (Magic Kingdom, Disney Studios, Animal Kingdom) decorate for the holidays. Also covered were some of the resorts like Grand Floridian.

Minor parks, or those that do very little holiday decorating (Typhoon Lagoon, EPCOT) were understandably not featured.

  • I just watched the special and LOVED IT. Very well done and enjoyable, I am hoping it will air again. After seeing this I am looking forward to my visit tomorrow just to see the hotels. We will have lunch the next day at Epcot and can’t wait! David Bromstad did a great job, he shows the spirit of what the child in all of us sees and the Magic that Disney so very thoroughly captures.

Way to Go WDW cast members! You did it AGAIN!!!

  • I have been going to WDW for 26 years. I live in Dallas, Tx. So it is a long way to come, but for me it is truley an escape. a Magical Christmas. I am looking forward to seeing the special tonight. I am also looking forward to coming back to WDW in Feb.
Have a very Magical Holiday season.

  • We look forward to watching too! It’s been seven years since our last visit (or vacation of any kind), and that’s WAAAAAAAY too long!

  • I can’t watch this special (I have a prayer service tonight), but it sounds great! Will go to MK tomorrow and see all the Christmas bits (not to mention the turismos, mainly Brazilian tour groups, who are in the same spirit as them). Same with Epcot the following week, when Pop Warner is in full swing (will enjoy it though)!

  • I am so totally watching this show! Two thumbs up!!

  • Yes! I look foward to seeing this special. I’m sure David Bromstad is going to make a great host 🙂
