Holiday Fireworks — My New Holiday Tradition

This year I’m very excited to continue a holiday tradition that I began last year: watching “Believe…in Holiday Magic” fireworks at Disneyland park. I saw it for the first time last year and I can tell you it’s amazing how fireworks, artfully married with classic songs like “White Christmas,” truly capture the Christmas spirit. Something about the mood makes me teary, and then the snow that falls during the finale…well…it’s embarrassing. The video below gives you a small glimpse into this big show. Of course, nothing is like seeing it in person. Happy Holidays!

  • In 2003 our little family of four took our first December trip to Disneyland. It became a tradition – except the last couple of years (hard times – like so many others). Still, whenever we hear the songs that go with the “Believe” fireworks show, we are transported. All four of us (husband and two now-adult daughters) remember that first magical night, and cry. Sharing with our son-in-law and grandchildren is a dream we hope to make come true in December 2010.

  • As a hard nosed mother, my kids are always amused that a Disney fireworks display can bring tears to my eyes. If any Disney officials are reading this, please bring back the actual snow. Bubbles are just not as magical.

  • My first ever Disney park visit was at Disneyland last year at Christmas time. It was such a magical day to begin with… I cried when I rode Pirates of the Caribbean for the first time, I cried when I first saw Mickey… but the most magical part was the fireworks. At the end when it snowed, I was a blubbering mess. It was everything I had imagined Disneyland would be and more! It was probably the best day of my life next to my wedding day.

It impacted me so much that now a year later, My husband and I have moved to Florida and are both working at Walt Disney World! The Christmas fireworks here are beautiful too, but nothing compares to that day at Disneyland.

  • This was my first time at Disneyland since I was 6. Having our kids there made this the best vacation ever. My comment is for the Disney people. I loved the staff in all venues, the chefs in all the restaurants catered to our family’s special gluten-free diet with grace. We really were treated as though we were the only falmily there. Disneyland has the best gluten-free pizza we’ve ever tasted, and it’s very reasonable in price.
About the fireworks; I have NERVER teared up or cried during fireworks, until Dec. 17th. Thank you Disney, for including Christian Christmas songs and Jewish Hannukkah songs during the fireworks show. It was the happiest place on earth last week for our family. I want to go again next week!
