'Candlelight' at Disney's Epcot
Last week, we searched the archives and posted the first official photo of the Candlelight ceremony at Disneyland park from 1959. Now, we’re sharing another unique image — this time from Walt Disney World.

More than 800 performers and a special celebrity narrator gather on select nights to entertain guests at the American Gardens Theatre during each Candlelight Processional event. Here’s the updated list:

    12/14–12/17 — Abigail Breslin
    12/18–12/20 — Whoopi Goldberg
    12/21–12/23 — Brian Dennehy
    12/24–12/26 — Edward James Olmos
    12/27–12/30 — Angela Bassett & Courtney B. Vance

And if you didn’t know, information about any of the performances can be found by calling 407-939-3463 or by visiting our special events page.

  • The Candlelight Processional is a wonderful Christmas tradition for us! We been seeing the show since 1997. This year was wonderful as always! The only negative for our Christmas Epcot visit was the loss of the majestic Lights of Winter. Christmastime makes Epcot a very special place in December!

Our favorite memory was from December 2000. We saw the processional at 6:45 and then had dinner at 8:30 at the Rose and Crown (dinner could be after the show then). As we began to eat dessert, we were able to enjoy IllumiNations from our table. It was a wonderful evening and a great memory.

  • We go to see the Candlelight Processional every year we are at WDW. It is a must see for us! No matter what, it put us in the holiday spirit!!!

  • I was lucky enough to perform at Candlelight for 4 years (from 1990 thru 1993) back in Magic Kingdom. My last year was James Earl Jones, man with one of the greatest voices ever! Have to say though, you never realize just how far the normal Disney parade route is until you have to sing the entire way while walking VERY slowly. 🙂

  • Wow, Tom, I never realized the Processional was performed at the Magic Kingdom before Epcot. I’m sorry I missed that! I’d love to see it at Disneyland sometime too, although I suspect that is a difficult ticket to get!

  • This is the type of thing I’d love to do if I was famous. How cool it’d be to get to read to the crowd.
