A couple of months ago, we shared a photo of Walt Disney outside his apartment on Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland park, and a number of you expressed interest in seeing more photos of Walt’s apartment. With this rare photo, we’re showing you the apartment just as Walt enjoyed it, with all of its original furnishings and décor. You can just imagine Walt and his grandchildren enjoying some family time in this Town Square hideaway.

I would love to see it in person!
I would love to see it in person!
That is really very cool. I would love to see pics of the apt/hotel room in Cinderella’s Castle at Walt Disney World, and some info on how lucky travelers can stay there.
Thank you so much for posting this. Every time, I go to Disneyland, I stop and look up at the apartment. It was especially nice at Christmas when you could see a lit tree in that apartment too. So nice to see what it looks like on the inside.
Wow! Thank you for sharing this…..
When I was a kid I would look up at that window and I knew it was Walt’s apartment. I wondered what it would be like to go up there. years later I began to work for Disney doing voices. The more I worked for Disney the more Disney people I would meet. In 2005 I was given a private tour of the apartment. I was able to bring somebody so I brought a girl who was nuts about Disney. It was a very special experience. It remains one of my top ten Disney moments. As for the girl, she dumped me about three months later… When I go to Disneyland I still look up at the window and I remember that great day. Then I think about that girl and I get a stomach ache. Oh well, it can’t be all gravy.
I’ve done the Walk in Walt’s Footsteps tour at Disneyland, they talked alot about the apartment, do you ever think that we would be aloud to visit the apartment on that tour in the near future?
WOW!!!I look at that window and say “Hi Mr. Disney” everytime I go to the park. I have always wondered what his ‘home away from home’ looks like. Thank you soooo much for sharing.
I took the Walk in Walt’s Footsteps tour last year for my birthday and it was fabulous! Although we didn’t get to go into the apartment, they showed us this picture. They also told stories about the Disney family living there and how they spent their days. If you are a true Disney lover and have the chance, this is a must take tour.
LOVE seeing this classic photo. Would love to see more! 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
Hi Heather! Great picture of Walt Disney’s apartment. I would LOVE to see it in person. Disneyland truly is the happiest place on earth! Solange from Torrance, CA
It has always been a dream of mine to work at Disneyland and live in this apartment. However, I think my husband would miss me too much.
I thought it was still available for Diane Disney and other family? Is that not true? Or, is it that it is available for them, but they don’t use it?
Love seeing where Walt and Lilly spent time with their family when not out and about in the park. If I am not mistaken, the light on the table in the window between the two chairs is always on. The park continues to have the light shine day and night in honor of Walt. Best memories have been created for me and my family at Disneyland!
Are there any hidden Mickeys in Walt’s apartment? Its a lot of pink, but very cute! 🙂
Thanks for sharing this photo with us. It’s so easy to imagine Walt & his family spending time there together.
Would have loved to be in there! Glad the troops at DL still keep this up! Walt thought of everything down to the last detail!
To answer a couple of questions…. Yes, it looks exactly like that today. They used to use the room for company events, but several years ago stopped. They were noticing the wear and tear on the apartment, and wanted to maintain it as much as possible. The do still allow “special tours” to go through, and they also still allow some celebrities to host events there, and on the patio.
Some of the items in the apartment are not the originals, but excellent replicas. The originals were either kept by his family or sent to the museum.
The design of the apartment was ingenious, allowing enough space for everyone to sleep, visit, eat and enjoy.
I too, have been fortunate enough to visit the inside of Walt’s apartment, and it is indeed, a memory I shall cherish forever. I have many wonderful pictures that I share “brag” with others.
Mary from CA…
This picture is precious and timeless..thanks for sharing Walts living arrangements in the park…I hope you can share more in the future.
Very NICE! Thanks for posting that picture!
thank you for the picture Disney! I am glad that no one uses the suite now. It should be left as a tribute to the man with the dream.
And the other poster is correct. There are wonderful photos and some of the furniture on display at the Walt Disney Museum in San Francisco.
Now there is a wonderful place to learn all about the man.
awesome picture, now ive been to disneyland countless times(but my pass has ended),my dad worked at disneyland for a few years. and i have never seen inside this room ever, and its alot different from what i expected, but it looks awesome, also haunted.
I participated in a College Program at the Disneyland Resort and had the honor of viewing that apartment in person and it looks just like that. It’s like stepping back in time.
I have been lucky enough to have seen the inside on a preview tour of the Dream Suite. It was so beautiful. <3
I can’t believe this picture!!! I’ve always wanted to see what his apartment looked like. You can almost picture him there…..
It look the same as you see in the photo. No one uses it now, it was used a while back after Walt, but now its just there for Walt.
I used to work for the DLR, and I was one of the very fortunate people who got to go inside Walt’s apartment! It is exactly like this picture. It has two twin sized beds that fold out, a small sink, a standing shower/bathroom and a small fridge (not to mention a small garden on the rooftop of City Hall. The decor (as I was told) was picked by his wife, and the very same carpet & upholstery are used in the Lilly Bell (which I was able to go on as well). It was an absolutely magical experience to be able to see in person.
Vivianne, this is actually the apartment above the fire station by the front entrance, not the old gallery above pirates.
Beautiful! I would like to see it in person.
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing, Heather. I have seen the apartment many times as The Gallery and wondered what it looked like when Walt’s family was using it as an apartment.
Viver
YYEEEEEEEEYYY, thats a picture i wanted to see!!!
Awesome.
I love seeing interior shots of Walt’s apartment, and its cool to know that its still there whenever I go to Disneyland and look up at the window.
I LOVE this look… I really hope one day it will be open to the public for all to see… I think that would be awesome for all the Disney fans.
It looks exactly the same. It’s only shown to very special (or high up) people.
With this being the same color scheme that’s used inside the Lilly Belle, was this Walt’s favorite color? Or possibly Lilly’s?
Thank you for sharing such a precious picture that means so much to us who really love Walt.
I still have my official Mouseketeer certificate from about 1963-64. On that day no one was working in the Headquarters on Main street but I filled it out and kept it anyway. Does anyone else remember when this was on Main St.? Am I still an official Mouseketeer even though I had to fill it out myself? It’s funny what we keep through the years.
Thank you Amanda
awwww =) xoxo, Thanxs Walt for Disneyland its My favorite place.

Does anyone ever stay there now?
Love it. What does it look like now? What is it used for?
I would love to see the apartment in person, besides from the outside!
If you ever make it to The Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco, there are pictures of Walt, Lilly & the grandchildren in the apartment. I highly recommend the museum.
