Top 10 Quick Bites in the Walt Disney World Theme Parks

We recently posted Top 10 favorite Walt Disney World restaurants and a reader asked for favorite quick-service restaurants. With four theme parks it’s not easy but we’re still sticking to Top 10. Forget hot dogs and hamburgers, here goes:

  1. Sweet Potato Cart, Frontierland, Magic Kingdom. Vegans, vegetarians and carnivores love this filling snack that’s low fat and full of vitamins – and you can eat on the run. Sweet potatoes are seasonal, so if we don’t find them, we head to Columbia Harbour House for the Lighthouse Sandwich – hummus, broccoli slaw and tomatoes on whole-grain bread. Or we throw caution to the wind and order the restaurant’s fried shrimp platter.
  2. Ditto for the veggie egg roll from the Egg Roll Wagon in Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom. Low fat, not so much. But satisfying and easy to eat when you’re dashing through the park.
  3. Taco Salad, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, Frontierland, Magic Kingdom. Better than a burger and you can load up with jalapeños at the toppings bar.
  4. Half slab of St. Louis Ribs, Flame Tree Barbecue, Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We’ve peeked in the kitchen to watch the chefs grill these tasty favorites – finger-lickin’ good.
  5. Kung Pao Beef, Yak & Yeti counter service, Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Grab some chopsticks and dig in.
  6. Pressed Tuscan deli sandwich with shaved smoked ham, smoked breast of turkey, provolone, Caesar dressing and Pesto marinated tomatoes on a Tuscan roll, served with apple slices or French fries at Studio Catering Company, Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Go for the fries.
  7. Southwest salad with chicken, tortillas, black bean relish, avocado, and cilantro vinaigrette at Backlot Express, Disney’s Hollywood Studios. And since it’s relatively healthful, sometimes we sneak in a late-afternoon peanut butter and jelly shake at the bar at 50’s Prime Time Cafe.
  8. Roasted Beets and Goat Cheese Salad with honey sherry dressing at Sunshine Seasons, The Land pavilion, Epcot. Plain delicious if you love beets. If not, go for the seared tuna salad with sesame-rice wine dressing.
  9. Does a chocolate crepe count as a meal? We think so. Stop at the Crepes des Chefs de France kiosk in Epcot World Showcase.
  10. Sit at the outdoor tables and people watch while you share a shawarma platter at Tangierine Cafe at the Morocco pavilion in Epcot World Showcase. Generous tastes of hummus, tabouleh, couscous salad and Moroccan bread. We suggest the chicken and lamb combo.

  • The best and most convenient Quick Bite WAS McDonald’s French Fries, formally available at all parks. What happened?

  • I had no idea there was a sweet potato cart! I love those and so does my toddler – thanks for that tidbit!! 😀

  • We love the Roasted Beets and Goat Cheese Salad, it really is top notch and very satifying!

  • How could pineapple dole whip not make the top ten?!?!?!?!

  • I never knew that there was a bar at the 50’s Primetime Cafe! And to serve milkshakes no less! Yummy! Another great quick bite to accompany the kung pao beef at Yak & Yeti counter service is the mango mini pie. It is very refreshing and satisfying.

  • That was fascinating and sounds delicious! I would love to see a top 10 for disneyland or for the top 10 healthy options! 🙂

  • I agree! I want to see a top 10 quick bites for Disneyland park and DCA.

  • My favorite (will not be getting it this year as it is closed), is the nachos from the Mexican pavilion. DELICIOUS! (A nice cold Dos Equis is nice too)

  • Fish and Chips from the UK Fish Hut!

  • My family is going to WDW in July. We will have to try a few of these suggestions. We’ve eaten at the 50’s Prime Time Cafe several times, but we never knew there was a bar with shakes. Great information! Thanks!

  • Sunshine Seasons Food Court in the Land Pavilion at Epcot: Turkey and Muenster on Foccacial with Chipotle Mayo and an Asian Cake.

  • Oh, boy! So many choices, it’s quite difficult to narrow it down. A family favorite of ours is the Orange Chicken at the Lotus Blossom Cafe in the China Pavilion at Epcot.

  • Hi Pam,

Where is the Sweet Potato Cart typically located in Frontierland?

Also what months does it typically operate?

In many trips we have never come across this, the only similar venue has been the Liberty Square Market located in Liberty Square.

  • Canada’s defunct beaver tail was awesome – bring it back!

  • Can’t wait to try them all. Yummy!

  • We love getting a turkey leg and fries to gnaw on at HS:) Our our snack at Epcot before the fireworks is popcorn or a Churro from Mexico. At Goofy’s at Downtown Disney I like the chocolate covered pretzel rods with pecans. AK the ribs are awesome but we get fries there too for a quick bite. MK we can’t leave without having a Dole Whip.

  • a fun place to eat at Hollywood Studios is Sci-Fi Dine In Theater you feel like you are at a drive in

  • For me, Number 1 is the Columbia Harbour House in Magic Kingdom. Best Fish n Chips to be found. plus the little apple pies are amazing! Here’s a tip – get the chicken/fish combo and you get 6 pieces instead of 5!
