Now that the premiere of this new nighttime spectacular is less than two weeks away, we’re answering some of the questions you’ve asked us here on the Disney Parks Blog. How can I see the show? Will there be a Disney FASTPASS service for “World of Color“?
Hopefully, these tips will be helpful as you’re planning your trip to the Disneyland Resort.
There are three ways to secure a spot for the show:
- “World of Color” Disney’s FASTPASS Ticket – FASTPASS tickets for “World of Color” will be available each morning at the Grizzly River Run FASTPASS terminals. Guests can insert their park tickets into the terminal to obtain a FASTPASS ticket to see “World of Color” from the reserved viewing area in Paradise Park. As with other FASTPASS attractions, there will be a limited number of FASTPASS tickets available for the show. Note: guests will not be able to pick a specific show time. FASTPASS tickets will first be distributed for the earlier show, and after those have been distributed, FASTPASS tickets will then be distributed for the later show. When all of the day’s “World of Color” FASTPASS tickets have been distributed, Grizzly River Run terminals will convert back to distributing Grizzly River Run FASTPASS tickets.
- Tip: If you would like to see the show on the day of its premiere, June 11, here are a few things you should know about getting a “World of Color” FASTPASS ticket. If you arrive before park opening, you may park in the Pumbaa parking lot on Disney Way and, beginning at 7 a.m., gather at the Main Entrance to Disney California Adventure park. When Disney California Adventure park opens to the public, guests lined up for FASTPASS will be walked into the park and over to the FASTPASS terminals. As always, theme park admission will be required to enter the park to obtain a FASTPASS ticket and to view the show.
- “World of Color” Picnic Meals – You can also secure reserved viewing by ordering a special boxed picnic meal. Picnic meals may be ordered online – www.disneyland.com – or by walk-up purchase, subject to availability, at the Sonoma Terrace, Golden Vine Winery. Picnic meals purchased online will include reserved viewing for the first show and walk up picnics will include reserved viewing for the second show. They are available on-line for purchase at Disney.com
- Picnic meals be picked up at the Sonoma Terrace from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Picnic meal options include four selections for adults: “The All American” (cold honey-stung fried chicken), “The Taste of Asia” (chilled miso-glazed salmon), “The European Antipasto” (cured meats, regional cheeses, artichoke heart, sun-dried tomato) and “The Mediterranean Vegetarian” (marinated grilled vegetables in a whole wheat wrap with roasted garlic hummus). Kids’ options for children ages 3-9 include “The Junior All American” (chicken), “The Lunchbox Classic” (peanut butter and jelly).
- All online picnic meals with “World of Color” Reserved Viewing are priced at $14.99 and must be redeemed for the designated reserved show date and time. No refunds, exchanges or other discounts.
- Each guest entering Paradise Park must present reserved viewing area admission. Guests may only enter the viewing area during designated times, which is specified on their ticket. Separate theme park admission is required.
- Prix Fixe “World of Color” Lunches – Prix fixe Lunch with “World of Color” Reserved Viewing are available at Wine Country Trattoria restaurants. Guests may order from a selection of Italian cuisine at Wine Country Trattoria (current prices are $29.99 for adults and $18.99 for children ages 3-9and includes a complimentary Reserved Viewing for “World of Color.” Reservations: (714) 781-DINE. Seatings are at specified times and space is limited. No refunds, exchanges or other discounts. Separate theme park admission is required.
- Prix Fixe “World of Color” Dinners – Prix fixe meals with “World of Color” Preferred Viewing are available at both the newly redesigned Wine Country Trattoria and Ariel’s Grotto restaurants. Guests may order from a selection of Italian cuisine at Wine Country Trattoria (current prices are $39.99 for adults and $20.99 for children ages 3-9), or a varied menu of seafood, meat and vegetarian options at Ariel’s Grotto (current prices for inside seating are $39.99 for adults and $20.99 for children ages 3-9). Both restaurants offer Preferred Viewing for “World of Color.” Reservations: (714) 781-DINE. Seatings are at specified times and space is limited. No refunds, exchanges or other discounts. Separate theme park admission is required.
You can also see the show without a reserved spot. There is ample space all around the perimeter of Paradise Bay that provides great views of the show. The views from these locations are certainly different, but the choreography of the fountains, bright bursts of color and music can be enjoyed from all around Paradise Bay.

Where is the FASTPASS viewing area for the World of color Show ?
All reserved viewing dining options and FASTPASS tickets will be in the new amphitheater (Paradise Park) and the bridge over Paradise Bay.

Just curious. Is that new viewing area that just opened the designated picnic area? or is that the fastpass viewing area?
That last line “There i one more option…” seems to indicate that the new viewing area is only going to be for FastPass holders and people who have the pre-paid meals, is that true? are you really going to do that to guests?
The new viewing area, including Paradise Park and the adjoining bridge to Paradise Pier, is for ticketed guests (through FASTPASS or reserved dining). This was planned to improve the guest experience and designed to help guests enjoy the entire day at the Park, rather than having to camp out and wait to see the show. In addition, there is ample space around the perimeter of Paradise Bay for guests who do not get a FASTPASS ticket or reserve a meal

I just tried calling the 781-DINE number. The recorded greeting said that they are currently booking reserved viewing packages only for Fantasmic and Electrical Parade. Does this mean the WoC packages are not available to book yet (and if so, when will they be), or only that the pre-recorded greeting needs updating? In either event, how far in advance can we book?

Well, those sound like a LOT of good options in different price ranges, but, I don’t quite understand- are you guys saying people won’t be allowed at all in the newly constructed viewing area unless they purchase one of these meals?

Thank you for the update. I now have reservations at Ariels. Is the Preferred Reserved Viewing standing or seated?
The Preferred Reserved Viewing that comes with Ariel’s Grotto is standing.
I don’t mind crowds. When The Main Street Electrical Parade was, well, on Main Street, and they had just invented personal video cameras, I had to stand behind four other people, holding my camera over my head, to shoot the parade. It’s still makes me chuckle to look at those wiggly images- But, I don’t think I would have the same warm feeeling if I had been told I would have to pay extra to see it. Whether thats in the form of a “meal” or not. You may just alienate your core audience. First come, first serve- whether its in the form of a FastPass, or simply sitting on a blanket for a couple of hours waiting for the show to start, is fair to all.
Margaret, there will be space around Paradise Bay if you do not want to get a FASTPASS ticket.
I’m definitely interested in the box meal options, but cannot find a reference to them on the Disneyland.com website. Can you post a direct link for where they can be ordered?
The Picnic meals cannot yet be ordered online. Right now, to order a meal for June 11, you can purchase as a walk-up. Please note that this is subject to change.
This is great info, thanks Heather! Is there a map or something that shows the different viewing areas? I’d like to see where the Fastpass viewing area, picnic viewing area, meal picnic area, and general (no Fastpass) viewing areas are in order to figure out/plan the best option.
I purchased a dinner package opening day at Ariel’s Grotto! We got second seating! We were very lucky and we were at first planning to wait to get the fastpasses early in the morning, but we decided it was safe to just get the dinner pacakge with the voucher.

Kristen, you can still get a “regular” FASTPASS ticket after you’ve picked up a “World of Color” FASTPASS ticket.
As a Premium AP Im excited to to see the World of Color but can you view the show without the FastPass or meal deal?

I have a question about the picnic meals. The only option on there that I could eat (due to dietary restrictions) would be the kid’s “Lunchbox Classic” meal. But i’m 22, not 3-9. Is there any way I could order this meal or am I just out of luck because I can’t eat the other things?
As always, we do our best to accommodate individual guests’ needs. I recommend asking when you go to purchase.

Also, do you need to view the attraction from a certain direction? Or is any spot with a view of the water an OK place to be?

In response to your first question, you are correct. Grizzly River Run FASTPASS tickets will be available after “World of Color” FASTPASS tickets have been distributed. In response to your other questions, there are fabulous views from any spot on Paradise Bay. The views from different locations are certainly different, but the choreography of the fountains, bright bursts of color and music can be enjoyed from all around Paradise Bay. It’s just like seeing Fireworks in Disneyland park – the views are different on Main Street than Small World Mall or New Orleans, but they are all fun.

If I get a World of Color FastPass in the morning, will I be able to get a FastPass for another attraction, such as Soarin’ Over California? Normally, FastPass would prevent you from getting another FastPass until after your “ride window” has passed. And, obviously, the “ride window” for World of Color will only be during the evenings.
Presumably, holding a FastPass for World of Color doesn’t lock you out from any other FastPasses during the day, right?
Me and my family wanted to see world of color but some family members won’t be coming to California Adventure Till later. Does the person receiving the World of Color FASTPASS ticket need to be present to be able to receive it?
Yes, the person receiving the “World of Color” FASTPASS ticket will need to be present in order to be able to receive it. All guests must have passed through a Park entry turnstile to have their ticket activated
Im not a fan of this WOC Fastpass thing. I think it should be like Fantasmic, you know, survival of the fittest. If you want a prime viewing spot you gotta wait it out. The Fastpass system means you gotta be there early in the morning to see it. But what if you work till the afternoon and by that point the Fastpasses are all gone. I know they said that there is viewing around the bay, but having been to the park dozens upon dozens of times, that viewing isn’t the greatest. That doesn’t really seem fair to me.
Why won’t they allow people to simply stake out their viewing areas like they do for Fantasmic? It is a much more fair and easily understood method of viewing the show. This new method you are attempting is going to upset many guests who didn’t know they had to get a Fastpass or purchase one of your meal packages in order to view from the primary viewing area. Plus what about the thousands of annual passholders who visit the parks later in the day? By the time they arrive in the park there will not be any Fastpasses left.
I really hope this is only for the premier of the show and not a permanent thing.
Will there be a handicapped viewing area as well?
All viewing areas are accessible to wheelchairs, and an effort will be made to accommodate wheelchair guests in a location where their view will not be obstructed.
Will there also be reserved seating for Fantasmic as well? Will we be able to order a picnic meal for Fantasmic?

Is the Pumpa parking lot the only one open before 7am? When does Toy Story parking lot open? When do their buses star shuttling people to the park?

If you arrive before park opening, you may park in the Pumbaa parking lot on Disney Way and, beginning at 7 a.m. we will allow Guests into the Esplanade area in front of the Main Entrance to Disney California Adventure park. All other Theme Park Parking lots will open at their regularly scheduled time. This includes Mickey & Friends Parking Structure which is scheduled to open at 8 a.m.
Will “World of Color” Picnic Meals be standing or seating?
All viewing for “World of Color” is standing, so Picnic meals will provide standing viewing. Guests who purchase Picnic meals can eat their meals at the Sonoma Terrace in the Golden Vine Winery.
Two Questions
1. So if you have a a fastpass for one of the shows are you able to park it/camp out in the spot that you want or is there going to be another line that we would have to stand in before the show starts?
2. If we have parking at the mickey and friends lot can we park there or will it be accepted at the pumba lot, also what is the earliest that we can arrive at the park to get in line?

Wonderful idea! I’m more than willing to pay a little so that I don’t have to wait as long for a good spot. But judging by what I’ve seen of the area, there is a lot of room for good viewing areas.
@Kevin #20…You can get another fastpass after 2 hours has passed, you don’t have to wait until the “ride window” is over. The machine prints on your fastpass when you can get another pass.
Wow it sounds like it is going to be pretty crazy over there on June 11. How many guests are expected?
I sort of agree with Matt #22 and Juan #23, being a AP we do not go early in the morning so missing that WOC fastpass window will be a bummer for us. I love California Adventure and have been waiting along time for this show I really hope when we visit on my Birthday June 12th that we will be able to find seating, we have reservations for dinner at the Blue Bayou :/ ugg wish I would of known ahead of time about the picnic and dinner reservations for primo seats. There will be other times to see the show if not that weekend, I just hope you know what your doing with the fastpass and meal deal thing, will see if it works out 🙂
This is great information. We were at Disneyland Resort in April and watched the progress of all the new changes. It looks very exciting.
I understand why some people don’t like the idea of getting a Fast Pass or a meal to guarantee a spot for the show, but I think it’s a brilliant solution. I remember the first time we tried to watch Fantasmic, we showed up early and got a good spot. After waiting for over an hour (when we could have ben doing something else at the park), some people crowded in front of us and I didn’t see much. They were tall and blocked the my view as well as the view of children and a lady visiting from England who was much shorter than I am. Being irritated by rude people and very tired from standing so long was not a nice way to end an otherwise pleasant day at my favorite place to visit.
So, thanks Disney, for trying to make this a better experience for everyone. And thanks, Heather, for the information and for answering questions.
I have some elderly parents who would like to see the show but can’t stand for more than 15 min with their canes. How will they get to see the show without any seats available? Standing areas only is a bad idea.Should I rent wheelchairs and if I get fast passes for a certain area are they good for disabled persons also?
All viewing areas are accessible to wheelchairs, and an effort will be made to accommodate wheelchair guests in Parade Park (the reserved viewing area) where their view will not be obstructed. All viewing in Paradise Park is standing only, but as always, our cast members will do what they can to assist guests with physical limitations while in the reserved viewing area.
OK… so a friend and I are arguing on weather you mean we can go any day (starting today)in the morning to get a FASTPASS or if you are actually talking about the DAY OF and all days following?
You must go the day of to get your FASTPASS ticket.
I personally love the idea of the FASTPass for this attraction. I hate that everyone camps out for Fantasmic! and I don’t think that’s a fair model because the locals start camping out at 3 PM or earlier. Those of us who actually want to enjoy the park during the day usually have to forgo Fantasmic! because people have taken up all the viewing spots. Bravo Disney!
I have a viewing/dining package reserved at Wine Country Trattoria the first night for the first show. You mentioned the bridge to the Pier as being part of the reserved viewing area – does that mean with my viewing/dining package my spot might actually be on the bridge instead of in Paradise Park?
Just wanted to second the questions June (#29) asked above. That is, how early are we allowed to arrive next Friday?
If we arrive hours early, will there be a line in the Pumbaa lot, or will it just be a free-for-all at 7am? I’m happy to get there as early as necessary, but obviously there’s no reason to be very early if it’s a free-for-all to line up.
And finally, will Mickey & Friends passholder parking be honored at the Pumbaa lot before 7:00am, or would we be charged for parking?

I am very confused on why Disney is overcomplicating the simple. Why can’t people wait their turn? I don’t understand how this helps guests or Disney? Can someone please explain this to me?
I wanted to get a Trattoria dinner package for July, but the recording on the 781-DINE line very clearly states they are “ONLY” taking reservations for Fantasmic! and the Electrical Parade. But the Electrical Parade is in Florida now, and the DINE line isn’t saying a word about World of Color packages. I’m so confused?!? Surely Disney’s own 781-DINE line would be updated by now, or is it okay to try and order World of Color stuff from them even though they say they aren’t taking reservations for World of Color? But I can’t wait to try the new menus out when they begin that process on the DINE line! YUM!!!
Will the World Of Color use the same machine as grizly river run, or a nearby machine in the area? Will you be able to get Grizzly River Run passes before all the World Of Color is Gone? Disneyland at the Grand Calafornian in seventeen days!!

Disney is doing a great thing by offering Fastpass and also giving you dining options, we never try to watch Fantasmic anymore because its just too ridiculous getting pushed, shoved, stepped on, etc….Yeah for Disney to get this opening and attraction right! Time to order my dinner and show experience!

Bravo to Disney for attempting to control the crowds that will no doubt decend upon California Adventure this summer! As a former out-of-state AP, I do not think it is fair that AP’s (or anyone for that matter) can camp out for hours to stake out a spot for a show/fireworks. I’ll be the first to admit that I have done it too on more than one occasion (waited 3 hours for Fantasmic! and 5 hours for Fireworks debut). But think of all of the non-AP folks who are only in town for a few days and shelled out all kinds of money to see the same things that AP’s get to see nearly anytime they wish, only to be disappointed that they can’t get a “good seat” because someone has staked out a spot hours beforehand while the out-of-towners were actually enjoying the park…as they should.
I think having FastPasses for the show is a fabulous idea!
I do have a question though, and I saw it asked above as well:
If we were to purchase a meal/reserved ticket package, where would we be located if we have a wheelchair in our party? (I suppose that question would be for FastPass as well) We’ve run into the problem several times where my husband could not see because he was in a wheelchair and everyone around him was standing. Will this be a concern for World of Color?

In response to a couple of previous posts about people camping out for Fantasmic, I have done this on several occasions, and it is well worth it. I never view it as not “enjoying the park”. Sitting by the Rivers of America listening to the ragtime music and people watching is highly enjoyable. Add in a clam chowder bread bowl and the anticipation of waiting for Fantasmic, and you have a fun evening. While I respect the decision to use FASTPASS for WOC, I also love the first come first serve aspect of Fantasmic. It becomes a question of how much it is worth to you in means of your time.
The Prix Fixe meals come with Preferred Viewing, which will be located in the center of Paradise Park.
I am so excited and can’t wait to see the new WOC show. We are going the end of June and have been waiting the last two years for the show to open. I am thrilled about the idea of fastpasses and or reserved dining for the show. I agree on comments posted about Fantasmic and the fact that people camp out hours before the show starts. AP’s are able to visit the park anytime they wish, so for out of towners this is awesome. We can enjoy the park and not have to worry about getting bad seats for a show. I really like the idea about the picnic lunches and the great thing is they are not any more overpriced then any other meal throughout the park plus you get reserved seating for WOC. The dinner options don’t sound as promising seeing as how it would probably be standing only; and for those people like me who have been on their feet all day; that could turn a good day into a bad one. The fastpasses are also a great idea. Just like all other fastpass attractions first come first serve. If you want to get on a ride quicker or see a show better than GET a FASTPASS, otherwise you wait like everyone else in a standby line.
Heather, I think Disneyland should have another meet-up that is for the World of Color, since created by the Walt Disney Imagineering team. But I am excited for this show. Will they be giving out Fastpasses for World of Color everyday in the summer starting June 11th?

Heather I appreciate your response, and I also really appreciate Disney trying to answer the challenging questions of how best to view (and manage the traffic before, during and after) shows like this.
i’m okay with the FASTPass component because that’s still a first come type thing, but the meal preferred reserved thing just doesn’t seem very Disney to me. and each answer seems to bring more questions, so it’s standing room for viewing? do you get to sit to eat the picnic meal you’ve paid for? how early do you need to arrive to eat before the show? do you eat at tables then move to the viewing areas?
