Two Guys Named Joe book cover
So I know it’s a little late notice, but we just got word that author John Canemaker will be on hand for a special appearance and signing next week here at the Disneyland Resort. John has just released his newest book from Disney Editions, titled “Two Guys Named Joe.”

Being an animation fan myself, I was really eager for the release of this particular book. It takes an in-depth look at the interplay between personal creativity and the craft of animation storytelling through the lives and art of two its greatest practitioners: Joe Grant and Joe Ranft. I haven’t had a chance to read it in its entirety yet, but I can tell you, from the looks of it, I know I’m going to love it and I really hope that you will too. It’s quite inventive and imaginative, and John seems to have really captured the experiences and contributions of these individuals, and the history and legacy that derives from traditional Disney Animation all the way up to today’s present films and the digital age with our partners at Pixar Animation Studios. I really liked seeing excerpts and interviews with fellow Disney and Pixar cast that both Joes interacted with, along with the classic Disney characters that dot the pages.

I really hope you’re able to make it out to the signing. You will have the chance to pick up an amazing new book, and you’ll also have a unique opportunity to meet the author. John will be at The Disney Gallery, August 18, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. For more details check out www.ArtofDisneyParks.com.

See you there!

  • Very excited to pick up this book, as I have highly enjoyed Canemaker’s books on Mary Blair and Winsor McCay. Thanks for the head’s up! =)
