Last year, Disney Parks fans learned that “The Adventures Continue” with the return of a new Star Tours attraction in both California and Florida in 2011. Earlier today at the Star Wars Celebration V fan event, Star Wars fans caught a first glimpse of a new video that will appear in the queue area of the reimagined Star Tours attraction in Disneyland park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios next year. The video produced by Star Tours is a new “commercial” that shows one of their exciting getaway travel packages.
Today we’re also giving our Disney Parks Blog readers a peek at the video before it appears in the queue next year. While Star Tours now offers flights to new destinations, we cannot confirm that you will travel to any of the destinations shown in this video . . .
Since many Disney Parks fans know the new Star Tours attraction will take place between the two sets of Star Wars Trilogies, and that Star Tours can now take guests to more places in the Star Wars galaxy, what do you think of this video? Lose the annoying ewoks and it’s perfect 😀
I know it would be impossible to do as far as lines go, but wouldn’t it be incredible to actually have 3 different destinations? 3 different lines to three different excursions. You would have high traffic all day long just to get into all three destinations. Another interesting destination would be Hoth. Since a lot of travellers head to Orlando and California in the summer months, it would be nice to take your mind off the heat.
The new ride is a prequel to the current ride, so the Starspeeder 1000 is an OLDER model than the 3000. Even if we didn’t see Ewoks until ROTJ or Bespin until ESB, they still existed between Ep 3 and Ep. 4. More notably, Alderaan hadn’t been blown up yet. They’ve almost always had travel posters to Endor, Hoth, Bespin, and Tatooine; although, they have changed those posters over the years. I think the new ride will (or has the possibility) of visiting all four destinations. It will also be in 3D.
I freaked out when I heard the chimes! I have never seen the movies but I love the ride anyway and I’m so excited to see more of the Star Wars galaxy! I guess that just shows what a fantastic job Disney and George Lucas have done with this ride! Great Job!!!
If they’re not bringing back Captain Rex, I’d hope they create SOME sort of new, just-as-lovable character. It’s them that makes all the difference.

I have a theory of how they will accomplish offering 3 different destinations. I don’t think they will have 3 ships with each one dedicated to a different destination.
I think there will be smaller transports that the tourist selects where to go. I think it will be done using the same type of simulators already in use today. I think they have been working out any bugs by using guests as beta testers. ‘Testers’ using the simulators of ‘The Sum of All Thrills™’.
Imagine a dozen or two of them that accommodate 2 people and the riders choose where to go when they get in or something. It would be relatively easy to add more destinations as needed. Just a thought, but very possible.
When I exited the attraction just this past week, I noticed there were travel posters on the wall for other planets in the Star Wars universe – A little preview of what’s to come perhaps?
I agree about leaving maybe one ride vehicle programmed with the original experience. As a kid, you dream about flying through that Death Star trench!
And the Alderan joke was pretty brilliant!
OMG OMG OMG!!! So exciting! I personally hope we do get to visit Alderaan since the movies only explored it very briefly at the end of Episode 3. I am also intrigued by the fact that this movie will take place during between the trilogies which isn’t a very dramatic place since both the Empire and the Rebel Alliance are in their infancies (literally!)…I’m all for Baby Star Wars, but it wouldn’t really play very well for the general public…. ;-D
This looks so cool but I will miss the old version. Get to the parks in September just in time to ride it one more time.

Your comment about never seeing Alderaan in the movies is not quite right. We got a glimse at Alderaan at the end of Revenge of the Sith. Search your feelings; you know it to be true.

Whoops…just saw the “commercial” again. Looks like the tour will include all 3 locations. I’d love to be wrong and there are 3 different tours…course…i’d love to be right as well. LOL!!
