As Star Tours powers down at Disney’s Hollywood Studios today, we have something to share – and Star Wars fans, you’ll want to see this. It’s a video-look back at our recent after-hours party “Last Tour to Endor” where some last tourists went all out with their costumes. One creative outfit apparently took three years of planning. See for yourself:

Walt Disney Imagineers will soon begin creating a new experience (in 3D) for the reopening of the attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. And keep checking the Disney Parks Blog for the latest on Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, opening next year Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park.

  • Star Tours isn’t actually closing, is it? I just thought it was revamping for 2011.

  • This event was a great time. One of the best parts was the non-existent lines for rides! We rode Toy Story Midway Mania back-to-back with about a 10-15 minute wait each time, rode Rock-N-Roller Coaster 3 times with no wait, and rode Tower of Terror with no wait!!! Indiana Jones and the Lost Jedi Temple of Doom was hilarious and the fireworks show was incredible (as usual at WDW). Having the fireworks show during Star Wars Weekends would be a great idea!

  • Please advise

I need a good address on the Dreamers Contest Submission the one published doesn’t work.

  • I was just talking about this ride the other day! I went to Hollywood studios in March and breezed through the line in just a few minutes. I knew it would soon be updated! Thank goodness they didn’t get rid of it and they are just reimagining it! I can’t wait to see the new version.. I’ll have to make a trip down once it’s open again.

  • Wow, that looks like a lot of fun! They didn’t have near as big a party here in California. Thanks for the video!

  • This is silly, but this ride closing makes me teary eyed. I LOVE THIS RIDE! It brings back loads of memories with my family. Luckily, I went to Disneyland Paris this summer and had the chance to ride on Star Tours (French style). I didn’t understand a word of French, but it’s the same exact ride. So if you ever want to go on the ride again, fly to Paris. Hahaha.

I really was hoping Disney would keep the original ride and add the newer attraction next door. Does anyone know if that’s true?

P.S. I will go MAD if Muppet’s ever closes.

  • I was the first person in line last night for the last public Star Tours ride! They lined everyone up in the queue and stopped us at the merge point for a few minutes until everyone had gone through, taking their photos. After that, they put us into our Star Speeders, and then sent them all off at once!

It was so fun, I’m glad that I went on my day off.

  • Hallo Thomas, i have a question: is “Star Tours: The Adventures Continue” the official name for ST2?

    Thanx in a.

  • This looks like it was a lot of fun. I have a 5 year old who loves Star Wars, even though his main exposure to the series has been through Lego sets and bedtime stories told by my husband. I have a question: now that Star Tours is closed for renovation, does anyone know whether the photo backdrop with the speeder bike is still accessible at the Studios? We will be there in December, and would like to get a picture with our son. If it is also closed, I need to prepare him in advance. 🙂

  • Love star tours, gonna miss it.Looking forward to the new version.

  • Haha I love this. I miss Disney World, just went there this summer. So sad to hear Star Tours is closing.
