ElecTRONica at Disney California Adventure Park

We’ve had a lot of fun with meet-ups for Toy Story Mania and “World of Color,” and we’ve received some great comments from fans who liked the events. I’ve spoken with many of you and the one request I’ve heard over and over is: “Do more and include more people!” I’ve also noticed that a lot of you are excited about the upcoming Disney film, “TRON: Legacy” and the new ElecTRONica experience at Disney California Adventure park.

So, today, I’m announcing a meet-up on October 28, 2010, for 3000 people at ElecTRONica (that’s 1500 RSVPs each valid for 2 people). Given the large amount of attendees, this will certainly be different from the first two.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • Access to Disney California Adventure park at 4 p.m. and exclusive access to an after-hours ElecTRONica experience from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on October 28. (The Park closes at 8 p.m. on October 28, and ElecTRONica normally runs on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays each week).
  • Opportunity to come decked out in your best TRON or TRON-inspired costume at this special event.
  • Signing opportunity with screenwriters for “TRON: Legacy,” Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. (This will be limited to 200 people. You may sign up for this opportunity when you check-in for the event on October 28).
  • Opportunity to view select props and concept art from “TRON: Legacy.”
  • Commemorative Flynn’s Arcade coin made just for attendees of this meet-up.

To attend, RSVP to meetups@disney.go.com and follow these directions carefully:

  • All guests who RSVP for the event must be 18 years or older, but your guest does not need to be 18.
  • Valid RSVPs must include 1) “ElecTRONica Meet-Up RSVP” in the subject line and 2) your name in the body of the email. All RSVPs will be for the person who responds plus one guest.
  • Valid photo I.D. will be required at check-in.

We will send an email to those who send their valid RSVP before we reach capacity to confirm their attendance for October 28. Depending on your email settings, you may not receive the confirmation email, so we recommend that you also check the list of attendees on the Disney Parks Blog. We will give an update at the top of this post that will include a link to the list of names of all confirmed attendees. If you do not receive an email from us confirming your reservation and your name does not appear on the list of attendees, your RSVP was not accepted.

Please note the event is subject to change or cancellation.

  • Please post photos! My daughter and her boyfriend got to talk to you and they were stopped every few feet for people to snap pix (they were in Classic Tron costumes). They called so excited about all the fun they had…got autographs and all. I want pix!! 😛

  • Hi Heather!! I’m the one who RSVP’ed, but my +1 won’t be able to get to the park until 5:45pm. Do I have to wait for her to check in? I really wanted to sign up to meet with the screenwriters, but am afraid if I wait until my +1 comes, you’ll have gotten the 200 people. 🙁

    • You can check-in earlier but will need to come back out to check-in your guest.

    • To check-in, please make sure you bring valid, state ID. We need to verify you are 18 years or older.

  • Flying in tomorrow from the East Coast (Baltimore, MD) for this event. Looking forward to seeing ElecTRONica and meeting other fans. The movie inspired me so much when I was younger, that today I’m a full-time game designer. I owe a lot of my initial inspiration to the movie.

    I’m hopeful the sequel takes the franchise even further and inspires a new generation.

    Hi Heather! My sister and I got our RSVPs. She is going with her husband, but they also have a 3yr old son. I might not be able to make it tomorrow. Can I have her use my pass for my nephew instead? Her husband and son are really the ones that want to go, unfortunately, she RSVP’d with her name. Btw, all of us are annual passholders also.

    My son is 5years old and we are annual passholders. Can i take both my boyfriend and my son with me? can i use my sister’s pass/ RSVP to use for my son? They would really really love to go.

  • I will be attending as a guest (I’m a plus one) and carpooling with 4 friends who all have confirmed RSVP’s, we are arriving at 4pm. However, my friend who made the RSVP doesn’t get off work and won’t be able to meet us until 7:30pm. Is there any way I can check in without him or will I have to wait around for 3 1/2 hours for him to show up before I can go in? Thank you!

    Quick question. We won for both parties – Villians and ElecTRONica. Didn’t notice they were the same date. Is it possible to register for both and go to the Villians party for the 1st hour and then come over to ElecTRONica for the remainder. As long as we enter DCA by 9:00 we are ok, right?

  • if we wear a costume, will we not be allowed to wear it prior to the event during the checkout period?

  • Once we check in can you go in and out of the park after 8pm? Can we go to Downtown Disney after 8pm to eat and get back into the party?

    • We’re going to have to close access to the party at 9 p.m. People can leave, but you can’t re-enter after 9 p.m.

    1. I’m crazy excited for this event.
    2. I had looked before at the last posts and I am still a little unclear. Is the event totally free?
    3. I got my email conformation and my guest and I will be coming in costume. Can we wear our costumes into the park if we come before electronica begins?
    4. Will there be a problem if our costumes cover part or all of our faces? We have worn them to other places and they have asked us to remove the face coverings. I’m really excited to show off our tron suits.
    5. On a scale from 1-10 how awesome is this going to be? I vote a 10.

    • 1. Really glad to hear it.
      2. The only thing that is not included is parking. There’s no fee if you have someone drop you off.
      3. Yes, you and your guest can wear your costume when you enter the party at 4 p.m.
      4. All costumes must follow all guidelines established by the Parks.
      5. Ha ha!

  • Where is the updated list?? I can’t find it. Are there still spots available or is it at capacity?

  • I have a friend that will already be in the park that day (Annual Passholder). Will he be able to attend the event?

    • Francis, your RSVP is valid for 2 people – you and one guest. If you’d like to bring your friend as your guest, you’re welcome to. The guest list for this event will include confirmed attendees plus one guest for each person.

    I RSVP for the event but the guest i put down on the email can’t make it anymore. Do I need to change my guest name through you?

    • Please email us at meetups@disney.go.com with your full name, and we’ll remove you from the list. There are a few “Jennifers” on the list, so I can’t tell which one to remove.

  • Hi Heather-
    I RSVP’d for this event with my name and then again with my husbands name. I then realized that it was one RSVP per e-mail, so I RSP’d with his name on his e-mail too. He got in and I didn’t. (not sure why?) Bummer. We(our family of 4 -kids age 5 and 9) already have regular tickets and will be at DCA that day. Is it possible to be on a waiting list if someone doesn’t show to get all 4 of us in? or can my husband bring me as his guest and bring the children as well?

    • There’s only one RSVP per email, so only one of you could be admitted. There will not be a stand-by list the day-of. If we get cancellations, we will then give a spot to the next person who RSVPd.

  • Hey Heather, sorry to ask again, but I really want to help my friend out if its at all possible!

    My friend Michele Lee’s iPhone made a tiny typo because of auto-correct but was one of the first to reply at 10:08am – she typed “Electronics meet-up…” instead of “ElecTRONica…” and only realized about the error now – she’s SO bummed that she can’t go! Is there any way that you can add her to the list?

    • Hi, Jeremy. I’d love to be able to help. I really would, but I don’t know the specific situation with your friend. It’s possible we didn’t receive her email before we reached capacity. You could always bring her as your guest.

  • I got the confirmation email with all the instructions, and i checked the email i sent it has my full name…i guess ill wait and see if im on the list later thank you.

  • I’m on the list but still haven’t gotten a confirmation email. I emailed yesterday morning about it. Should I have received something by now?

    • Juliana, either you or your guest’s name will need to be on the list. Due to cancellations, we’ve added a few people to the list and will update it today.

  • My name is on the confirmed list, and I emailed you but I never received a confirmation email. Do we have to have that to get into the event?

    • You don’t need to bring the confirmation email with you, but it does have helpful information in it. If you emailed us last night or this morning, we will respond today.

  • If I’m 17 but my guest is 20 can I still get in?

    • To RSVP and be on the confirmed attendee list, you need to be 18 years or older.

  • I have a question, My daughter said she thinks she saw the confirmation in my email but she is at work now and cannot check, but I noticed I am not on the list…

    I am just trying to confirm because I sent my email before my daughter and her and her husband were both confirmed.

  • I saw that “If the child does not ordinarily require a ticket to the Parks, then he or she can come and not count as your guest.” I have two under two, would i be able to bring both of them with me plus my husband as a guest?

    • Yes, you can bring both of them if they’re both under two.
