Do these tickets have the usual 14 day after first use expiration or are they good for three dates throughout the year?
There are 7 of us who would like to travel on this awesome benefit. My dad is retired air force, and he’d like to take my mom and my family of 5. Since he can only get 6 tickets, would he be able to activate a total of 7 tickets if we find another military person who does not need all their tickets and could purchase an extra one for us?
Disney Military Promotional Tickets have to be activiated by the person buys them.
Hi, I am a retired AD LTC with 23 yrs in US Army and wanted to say thank you to Disney for doing this. My question is this- My wife and I already have Florida Resident Passes and would like to get these for my adult children who visit. The stipulations are that my wife or I must use 1 of the 6 tickets? is this true?
Yes, I agree that those who served for any amount of time deserve to be THANKED! And, of course if someone became disabled due to their service, they deserve to be thanked…the list could go on & on. The point is, YES men & women who served in the past deserve thanks. However, Disney is a PRIVATE organization that is being generous & offering a discount to military with restrictions. They do not HAVE to be EQUAL to ALL military past or present!! They do NOT HAVE to offer ANY discount!! They are losing money by offering this generous discount & YES we need to only say THANK YOU before they wipe out this nice program altogether! While my husband was deployed for a year to Afghanistan I was able to take advantage of Disney’s kindness & purchased discounted tickets last year to take my 4 children to experience some fabulous fun!! THANK YOU Disney!! I think it is disgraceful that there are people in society who think they can dictate what discounts Disney or ANY other private company HAS to offer to be EQUAL to ALL.. NO they don’t!!! If you do not like it, then don’t visit that establishment!
What about our Veterans. They’re part of our military also. Can we get these offers too?
Thank-you Disney for offering this great deal. I am sorry to hear that there are some who feel they are entitled to this offer but do not meet the requirements. I come from a military family, with a brother, two children, 3 nephews, and myself serving in one branch or another. When I asked them if they thought Disney was being fair they all responded with yes. That current military are giving right now, retired military have given so much of the past, and 100% disabled can not get it back. It is important to understand the military disability rating scenario to know why the 100% limit is imposed. I did not serve 20 years in the Navy just to get a discount at Disney, I did it because I wanted to, it was my choice. Disney is just giving an added benefit for my service.
Thank-you everyone that have served or are serving right now this great country. Thank-you Disney for recognizing our military.
My husband is Active Duty and it was such a wonderful gesture on Disney’s part to recognize our country’s service members, and a treat for my soldier to take his family to Disneyland. We were just there this August 2010 (August 8, 9, 10)to celebrate my sister’s wedding and to have a Disney vacation before my husband redeployed, and unfortunately Disneyland wasn’t running this offer. When we were there last summer (July 2010) the offer was Salute to Troops. My husband and I were very excited to take advantage of the offer and to treat our kids to a summer vacation. When we showed up at the ticket window this summer 2010, thinking there was a military discount offer, we were dismayed to learn that this is not always offered. Maybe Disney will consider offering a military discount as a permanent discount in the future, considering how many service members do treat their family to a Disney vacation, especially after just returning from long deployments and separation. Thank you Disney, for thinking of our service men and women and their families. It has made my husband and I feel touched that Disney recognizes our service members’ contributions.
Thank you DISNEY! My husband and I were waiting to find out if there was going to be another offer this year. We are going to Disney in December and have gone every year for the past 7 years. This year is going to be really special because we just adopted our 10 year old son and he has never been to Disney. This offer is going to save us so much money. Thank you for thinking our military and their families.
I am a spouse of a retired military member and will be coming to stay on Oct. 31, 2010 with my daughters and 2 of my grandchildren. I would like to know if Walt Disneyworld, Orlando offers a 3day park hopper for $99 like Disneyland does. Our time is limited and a 4day pass would get wasted. Thankyou
Since I read that you can purchase these promo tickets at the gate at Disneyland that the same is true at Walt Disney World? I have a similar problem of living several hours away from the nearest MWR and my husband is currently on deployment.
Thanks!
You can buy them at the gate
We are so excited that this offer was extended, but I do have a question. We have 8 dependent children, is there an exception to allow for additional discounted tickets for our situation where we are not purchasing for guests, etc., but for our own family? All 8 are listed on DEERS, and anywhere else that would need to be accessed. Does anyone know the answer to this? Thanks!
Just wish since now having to pay as the military member that we should be able to get tickets throughout the year during the promotion instead of just a maximum of 6 only at one time.
Great to see this continuing on… Sorta wish it was the same deal a a couple years ago where it was free for (I think it was) 4 or 5 days. Last year it was $99 for four days, and even this new deal is extremely worth it compared to not having the discount. Can’t wait to finally get my first visit in! 😀
Can I buy tickets for myself and our 3 kids at the park ticket window by showing my drivers license and my tan (dependant)ID card without my husband being present?
My apologies – I never meant to callously dismiss anyone’s sacrifice and I’m sorry if my earlier comment came across that way. Certainly all veterans have given a great service to their country, particularly people who have been injured while in that service.
The current military discount is very generous for those to whom it applies and for that I think the company deserves our thanks.
I do agree that it would be great to see a discount for those not included in the current offer. Perhaps a previous commenter is correct in that we need a better outlet for suggestions to the company. 🙂
Kathryn,
The correct response is THANK YOU but we are all about equality in this country. Weither you have given one year or twenty years to this country. We all THANK YOU but I believe many of the veterans old and new deserve the same right that disabiled and retired veterans do. So YES they deserve the right to the same discount given to the retired military. We thank ALL PEOPLE that gave their time away from families no matter how much time that was.
Disney is wonderful in offering this discount to ALL military.
I’m torn on this. If you have a severe service-connected disability but not rated 100%, you don’t qualify for it. It’s a donut hole. However, the logistics to administer a program that would be open to veterans as well would be daunting. I understand how Disney has chosen to implement this – you can restrict sales to locations with restricted access. Easiest way to do it.
Kathryn – People who have served and come away disabled have made a sacrifice as well – one that could be argued as a greater one than those who only serve one weekend a month. Telling someone who, for example, served 13 years, is 70% disabled, is unable to work due to that disability and stands on the outside looking in at situations like this that pass him by to just “suck it up” is callous.I hope someday you never find yourself treated in a similar manner.
In a better world (perhaps one with a Disney-esque soft focus applied to it), disabled vets would be eligible for a different but similar discount. Perhaps ownership of a VA Medical ID Card, which indicates you have received a disability rating, could be used as an alternative eligibility identifier? Using a DD-214 is problematic – it contains identity information that could be used improperly if mishandled.
I would love to discuss this further, but Disney also puts up 50-foot walls to prevent folks from writing letters to them on this.
Love Disney, happy to have served my country, sad that those of us in situations like myself aren’t seen as having made sacrifices as well.
Thank you, Disney, for recognizing the sacrifices made by our military members and their families. Many children who just experienced a deployment (sometimes for a year or more!) or are getting ready to do so (because most people in the service are in one category or the other) will really enjoy a magical vacation at a Disney resort.
To the people who feel they deserve a discount but don’t qualify: none of us DESERVE a discount. Disney has generously decided to give a discount to those currently serving (and I agree that active guard/reserves should qualify for that) and those who gave 20+ years of service (and may I say thank you to them, too! What a wonderful sacrifice!). The correct response is, “Thank you.”
Anonymous I am surprised no one at Disney knew. I would THINK that you could pay the $20 or whatever a day to keep the ticket activated forever.
I would like to buy my 6 tickets all at once since you can only buy them one time and use 3 in Dec when we go and go back in the summer but do not want ot do that either if those 3 tickets will work
I have been unable to confirm concretely if you are able to use these tickets over the course of the year. We would like to use 1 day in January before a cruise and the remaining 3 days in August. However, the offer does not give info on if they have to be consecutive and/or expire after 14 days, etc. I have called the base and also Disney directly and no one seems to have an answer to this. I don’t want to go in Jan only to find out activating the tics means we can’t use them in August. Thanks for any guidance! 🙂
Disney Military Promotional Tickets (including any options) expire and may not be used after Oct. 1, 2011. In addition, Disney 4-Day Military Promotional Tickets (including any options) for the Walt Disney World Resort may not be used on the following blockout dates: Dec. 27, 2010 through Dec. 31, 2010 and April 17, 2011 through April 23, 2011, at all Walt Disney World Theme Parks and other gated attractions; and July 4, 2011 at Magic Kingdom Park
In the fine print on the info I read from our military base, it says that you cannot purchase tickets if you have already purchased Disney Promotional Tickets. Does this include if we purchased on the Disney Salute promo in 2009? Or only for this specific promo? We’d love to go again. Thanks!
Mr. Stovall,
I would appreciate a response as to my comments and not allowing all veterans to use this discount. We would like to go for 3days in Disneyland and my husband deserves this just as much as others.
Thank you for your time.
We live in upstate NY, 90 miles from the nearest MWR office at West Point. My husband is USAF, ret. I’ll be at Disneyland for 3 days only, so this ticket would be perfect.
Is there a manner in which I can buy a ticket by mail or at the gate without making the 90 mile journey?
Assuming I do have to trek to the Point, how likely is it that an East Coast military facility will have DL tickets?
Disney Military Promotional Tickets for Disneyland Resort can be bought at the gate with proper identification.
I agree with other posts that this should include all veterans…regardless of how long they served. And what about family members of our military that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country? My step-son lost his life in Iraq…
I am very sad to hear that not all veterans can take part in this discount. My husband worked hard and was HD and deserves the right to the same Disney dream that active & retired do. Disney, I understand that many have served but that is what is so great with our country. So many people left feeling used and not appreciated.
To Iris — just back from WDW in September using this year’s 4 day pass. WDW did not allow us to add days to the 4-day pass. So, I’m assuming they won’t allow this for 2011 either. You will have to buy the discounted 4-day ticket and then purchase an additional 4 day ticket at full price (or discounted if you buy at Shades of Green or through your military base). Hope this helps!
im glad you are trying for some vets but like has been said before what about those of us that only did a short stint and didnt do 20 years
Thank you for supporting the military!
What a lovely gesture! Any chance this will be extended to Canadian military???
Gosh I am confused. If we stay 9 nights, can I only buy tickets for 4 nights or will the discount apply to an 8 day ticket as well, meaning, will the price just multiplied and come out at $276?
Sorry if this is a stupid question
Disney Military Promotional Tickets can be purchased by active and retired U.S. military personnel for themselves and up to five additional family members or friends. Disney Military Promotional Tickets can be upgraded to include additional days, but at the regular Magic Your Way ticket price and the extra days would have the normal MYW expiration (14 days from first use).
FYI: I just found out that Disney Military Promotional Tickets cannot be upgraded to a traditional Magic Your Way ticket. They can only be upgraded to an annual pass. I apologize for the confusion.
awesome offer! we have used a similar offer in the past…too bad the block out days are the same exact time I will be there with my kids this December (minus hubby who is deployed…planned the trip before he got orders)…hopefully they offer something again in 2012 when we’ll try to plan another family vacation there (hopefully with hubby!)
What are the expiration dates from the first day of use? My family and I are going in two weeks but were planning to buy the 4 day Play tickets at the Florida resident prices through the base ITT. We wanted to save one of the 4 days to use on December 30th to go to Epcot where we already have dinner reservations for the Candlelight Processional. So, with these tickets we couldn’t be able to go to Epcot on December 30th.
So these people can buy up to 5 extra tickets for friends or family. I would think they should all meet the same criteria. If veterans of all kind can’t use this offer than I would think that all non-military guests and friends be excluded. How can you justify letting friends who aren’t or haven’t served their country benefit when us guys who served our country honorably for 6 years and yes I enlisted, during the Vietnam War get thrown to the side of the road. Wake up and be fair to all Vets. Active duty are military personnel and not Veterans—-yet.
Awesome Deal! thanks for supporting the Military Disney! We will definitely be taking advantage of that.
I strongly feel that ALL disabled veterans should be included in this wonderful opportunity. My husband is a disabled veteran but not at 100%. We would love to be able to participate in your generous offer. Please reconsider this and include all disabled veterans. PLEASE!
For all those complaining about Guard not being included, you need only check with your unit’s recreation office to see if this is available … it always was for us even when my husband wasn’t on orders.
It is sad that all veterans can not take part in this offer yes, but realistically that would be probably 1/4 or America. It’s the same as being able to shop at the commissary or keeping medical coverage, somethings are just a perk of staying in until retirement or for those active right now. I think it is a nice gesture for those presently serving to take a break with family!
do 2 yr old get in for free? thank you for supporting military personal.
All veterans – past and present have given so much! the families have sacrificed, too. so, WHY is this offer only available to active duty, retired, and 100% disabled vets? my husband can no longer serve because he was discharged, now a disabled vet (40%) and we ARE thankful that he is home and alive, yes! BUT, come on!
signed…
…military wife and a vet (just not retired or, disabled!)
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to Disney to be so kind as to offer this opportunity to us. You can’t imagine how much this means to the children who have had to suffer through a long deployment without their mother or father. It is such a great way for the family to bond after a difficult separation. They have to have something to look forward too and we could have never afforded to go without this gracious offer. So before you complain about the offer not being given to just “anyone” with a military affiliation think about are little warriors at home. THANK YOU DISNEY!
I certainly agree with Ron. My husband served proudly during the Viet Nam era in the US Coast Guard and then in the Naval Reserves. The military of today deserve the benefits, but so do all other vets.
In addendum to the previous post by me I would think any Veteran of the Military with copies of discharge papers should be able to take advantage of this offer.
I strongly feel that those who are currently in the National Guard/Reserves should be able to partipate in this offer and by this, I don’t mean when they are only activated.
I think it’s a little ridiculous that an Active Duty or Retired Personnel can purchase tickets for a friend; however, a NG/Reservist can’t purchase it for themselves or their family when they sacrifice more than the “friend.”
This sounds like a very nice gesture. Why not honor the military by opening this to ALL veterans. Why just active and retired? I served my country and was honorably discharged in the 60’s. Am I not worthy of sort of thanks for my service to our great country. I like almost all veterans keep our discharge papers, Form DD 214. They are needed for mortgages, Social Security and a host of other services. Sorry but I just feel it is in bad taste to allow this to only retired and active members of the service. Disney is truly great, however I just don’t agree with this policy. Same goes for the military hotel. I would appreciate a response. Thanks.
Is this going to b valid or an option at Disneyland Paris?! Many service members are stationed in Europe and can go to DLP! Please make this available at DLP.
Can All Veterans take advantage of the offer, I know it will be a difficult job and trust is the word, but I feel that once you served and you retired or just did 6 years and moved on to a differant life, you should be able to take advantage of these types of offers. I know I stand with my current brothers and past brother of the USN.
Does this include DOD personnel?
Is it true that you cannot get the free dining with Disney if you use the military discount? Please let me know since we have reservations for Dec 2010 and would like the best deal available for a military officer. Thanks
That is correct. To get the Free Dining package, you must purchase a non-discounted Magic Your Way room and ticket package.
This is great! Thanks for your support of the military!!!
Does the military member have to be with the friends when they use the tickets? I love military specials … but more so that we qualify because of my husband’s 29 years in uniform.
Since a valid military ID is required to activate the tickets at first use, the military member or spouse must be with the friends when they first use the ticket.
