Disney California Adventure park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida will celebrate the premiere of Disney Channel’s new multiplatform brand, Disney Junior, with “Disney Junior – Live on Stage!” next year. The lively show in the Parks will debut with new characters, some new adventures and a new marquee.

Children and parents who now enjoy the popular “Playhouse Disney – Live on Stage!” at both Parks can look forward to sharing this new production, which brings back three audience favorites (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny and Little Einsteins) and also introduces a brand new segment based on Disney Junior’s newest series that will debut in February 2011, “Jake and the Never Land Pirates.”

“Jake and the Never Land Pirates” will air on Disney Junior in February 2011 and will share the magical and adventurous world of Never Land with preschoolers. Children will be drawn to the main character Jake, an enthusiastic young boy who leads a team of kid pirates (Cubby and Izzy, along with their faithful pirate parrot, Skully) in fun adventures that encourage interactive responses from young viewers. The clever premise provides kids and families with a fun way to learn teamwork.

Stories from the show will come to life in the Parks with colorful, puppet versions of some of the most popular Disney Junior characters, bright visuals, whimsical scenery that fills the stage, catchy songs and interactive moments.

“Disney Junior – Live on Stage” is scheduled to debut at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney California Adventure park in March 2011.

  • What happened to Tigger and Pooh? My daughter loved them and they are just falling off the face of the Disney Channel Earth?? Bad decision on Disney’s part, I would much rather see you do away with that silly Timmy Time show or Little Einsteins!

  • Yep. Super disappointed kids!

  • Playhouse Disney – Live on Stage! (Hollywood Studios) closed 1/30/11 – 3/5/2011 to prepare for a new show Disney Junior – Live on Stage.

  • When will the Playhouse Disney Show at the parks be closed for refurbishing of the new show to be released in March 2011? I fear I am going to have three very disappointed kids in February.

  • i would loooovvvvvvveeeee to see some ROLIE POLIE OLIE!!!! my children vary in age and we now watch old VCR and DVDS that we had when my oldest was born!!! The show taught good morals and family togetherness! This Rolie household misses it! 🙁 (and some others to name, Bear in the Big Blue House, Pb and J, and more!!) Can those of us who are fans of Olie and Zowie expect to see that on the DisneyJunior lineup? 🙂

  • The problem with this show in general, I think, is that the primary target audience changes so frequently. When my kids saw it the first time, we had no idea about Bear and the Big Blue House. They were happy when Pooh and Friends and Little Einsteins, but I expect kids in that age group today rarely see them. So I do think it is good to change it up more often. Regardless of the characters, though, I do think pre-school kids enjoy the energy and interaction of the show.

  • We will be there over NE school break the last week of February. Will we be able to see this show? It always seems that Disney goes out of its way to make sure February break is great!

  • cute looking set!

  • i can’t wait i going be seeing playhouse disney live this 2010 but disney junior live sounds awesome

  • Bring back Bear in the Big Blue House! and PB&J Otter!

  • We want Tiger and Pooh back!

  • Is this replacing the “Aladdin” show that was at the Hyperion Theater in CA? If not, what is?

  • We may be done with the show. You’re taking out my daughter’s favorite characters. We miss the My Friends Tigger & Pooh series. She was so excited that her Darby costume worked. She wore it to The Not So Scary Party on 10/3 & when we returned from our trip, there were 3 new episodes on our DVR.

Can you at least show it in reruns on Disney Jr when you have a full time channel to fill.

  • Sounds great!! Would love to know when “Playhouse Disney – Live on Stage” will be going dark @ Hollywood Studios Florida. We’ll be there with my 2-1/2 year old at the beginning of December and she absolutely loves the current characters!

  • I’m still waiting for Phineas and Ferb themed dining at the parks. Great music, great characters. I could see that replacing one of the Playhouse Disney meals at Hollywood and Vine. 🙂

  • Bummer, we’re going to just miss it; we’ll be there in February. However, I am very relieved to see that Little Einstiens is still around. We LOVE them at our house and record them during their odd programing hours so that we can enjoy them when the kids are awake. I’m looking forward to the new Disney Junior format, and this pirate show sounds cute. (Just PLEASE don’t use that british voice from Charlie and Lola. I don’t want my kids picking up the “whiney” tone of that voice, and I’m not talking about the accent.) My sister misses Bear in the Big Blue House too, but her kids are 10 and 13 years old. I don’t think they would watch it, even if it was still on. Although, I wouldn’t mind brief periods of retro shows during Junior’s time segment. Pick a month and show some Bear, and do Rolly Polly Olie another.

  • @Tiffany I believe its going to be its own channel at some point replacing Soap Network. (Stick a lil House of Mouse on this too tv gods heh)

    • You’re right, Jennie. In 2012 Disney Junior will debut as a basic cable and satellite channel in the U.S. Disney Junior will invite mom and dad to join their child in the Disney experience of magical, musical and heartfelt stories and characters, both classic and new, while incorporating specific learning and development themes designed for kids age 2-7. The 24-hour Disney Junior schedule will include 200 new episodes annually of both new series, including “Jake and the Never Land Pirates,” and current hits, including “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” “Handy Manny,” “Special Agent Oso,” “Imagination Movers” and “Jungle Junction,” as well as an array of Disney’s classic and contemporary movies.

  • I agree with Stephanie, bring back Bear in the big blue house! He was so cute and very educational for the kids, I miss that show.

  • Bring back Bear!

  • So excited about my first trip in april 11, just in time to catch the new show!

  • No Phineas and Ferb?

  • I can not wait for this! One more item to add on to my to do list!!

  • Now we just need a character update for the Play ‘n’ Dine meals at Hollywood and Vine…

  • Sounds interesting. Why keep Little Einsteins though? The stage show easily gets dated as the tv series disappear, and Little Einsteins seems already on it’s way out.

  • Given that both shows have a lot of the same characters, might I assume Playhouse Disney will go down and be replaced by this production? when would that be happening? A single mom friend of mine is planning her first WDW vacation with her two adopted children. Her son LOVES Handy Manny!

    • This is an update to the current production. Handy Manny, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Little Einsteins will still be in this show, too. We’ll post an update with the first show date of “Disney Junior – Live on Stage!” when we get closer to the debut in March 2011.

  • Disney Junior is replacing Playhouse Disney next year. I think in 2012 Disney Junior will become its own seperate channel replacing Soapnet.

I am looking forward to watching Jake with my little twin girls. I know they will like it. Nothing can replace MMC or “Mouse” as they call it though as their #1 show.

    • Glad you’re looking forward to watching “Jake and the Never Land Pirates!” To clarify, the Disney Channel will launch Disney Junior in February 2011 as a new multiplatform brand devoted to children ages 2-7 and their families. Parents and grandparents can join their children in watching Disney storytelling that also includes learning and developmental themes. Disney Junior will launch content across the daily television block on Disney Channel. In 2012 Disney Junior will also debut as a basic cable and satellite channel in the U.S.

  • Looks fun. I’m sure kids will love it.

I’m glad that the show will be getting an update.

  • I am a HUGE fan of Playhouse Disney – Live on Stage! I was wondering if you might be able to give me a heads-up on when the last performance will be? Thanks so much, Heather, for everything you’ve shared with us!

  • This is pretty awesome! We just recently took my 1 1/2 year old son to Disney Live on Stage and he loved it. The new show looks promising too.

  • What about Playhouse Disney Live on Stage at Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris?

  • Will the show close out with the Hot Dog Song? My kids love the song and it seems like an appropriate way of closing out Playhouse Disney.

  • will this be replacing Playhouse Disney – Live on Stage? What is Disney Junior? Is it a channel? I have only heard of Disney and DisneyXD. The new show looks great and my boys will surely love it!
