Have You Experienced the Napa Rose Vintner’s Table?

While we love a deep-fried Monte Cristo or a hand-dipped corn dog when we visit Disneyland Resort, the ultimate dining experience is Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, where Chef Andrew Sutton always wows us with something seasonal, regional and beyond delicious.

Chef Andrew Sutton

Decorated in the rich style of the California Arts and Crafts movement, the restaurant’s light-colored woods, 20-foot-high vaulted ceilings, romantic outdoor seating with a fire pit, and a private dining room with a fireplace set the scene for a memorable dinner.

Last trip we discovered a divine new way to dine in the beautiful restaurant: the Vinter’s Table, which is Sutton’s idea of a prix fixe on the menu. Usually four or five courses, the VT menu changes each week “so we can offer the best of the best seasonal culinary delights,” says Sutton. Each course is beautifully paired with wine, “reflecting the wine dinners, casual and formal, that I hosted while living in Napa Valley,” Sutton explains.

Cost is $85, with $45 additional for wine pairings created by sommelier Joy Cushing from the wine cellar’s impressive collection. With a call to the restaurant, you can further customize your Vintner’s Table experience (price may vary).

A recent dinner inspired by “Autumn in the Wine Country” included sautéed Columbia River wild sturgeon with golden cauliflower, leeks and almond lemon brown butter; tarts of Applewood ham, swiss chard, Gruyère cheese and persimmon jam, served with pumpkin soup; sage-roasted Pennsylvania “Blue Foot” chicken with ragoût of golden chanterelle mushrooms, Oregon truffle and sweet potato tots; and a Concord Grape buckle topped with Concord Grape sorbet.

Sutton’s menu is so diverse, we love that the Vintner’s Table does all the work for us – just sit down, point and start sipping.

For reservations, 714-300-7170. The 237-seat venue is open daily for dinner, and also features a 78-seat lounge.

  • My husband and I do this once a year to celebrate. Chef Sutton and his brigade are a pleasure to watch. The food is always outstanding, and I highly recommend avoiding the menu all together and allow Chef to create just for you. This is an experience that anyone who loves food or cooking will enjoy!

  • Great picture. When can you actually eat outside at Napa Rose? I’ve never seen it open when I’m there.

  • It makes for a great special-occasion dinner! My partner and I had the Vintner’s Table menu with wine pairings on a visit in December 2008, and it was wonderful. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly, too. I love the Napa Rose in general: lovely ambiance (I’m from the Bay Area and the décor is very evocative of nearby Wine Country) and excellent food.

  • We did this with another couple about a year ago. What a great experience! We have always loved Napa Rose but if you get the chance you should try the Vintner’s Table. It really gives you a chance to be face to face with the awesome Andrew Sutton but to try things you wouldn’t have normally….well worth the $$$.

  • My husband and I have done this twice, and both times it was a beyond amazing experience. Everything is paired perfectly, and the service is unparalled!

  • This looks like a fantastic way to celebrate a special occasion. My husband and I just celebrated our wedding anniversary at Club 33, next year–Vintner’s Table at Napa Rose.

  • Lovely! My 8 year anniversary is coming up and I will definitely consider celebrating it here with my fiance. Thanks for sharing.

  • This place is NOT for little kids. The food is way too complicated for little tummies, and it’s hard for them to sit still and be quiet. My last visit was marred by five little ones under 8 years old and two grownups who did nothing to keep them from running around the tables and knocking over chairs. The staff also did nothing. We got out of there as soon as we could, and we’ll think twice about going to dinner there on a Saturday night.
