Mickey Mouse
This week marked the anniversary of Mickey Mouse’s debut in “Steamboat Willie” in 1928. Since he first whistled his way into history, Mickey has been a very busy mouse. Here are some of our favorite Mickey moments at Disney Parks.

What’s your first memory of Mickey Mouse? Let us know how in the comments.

Top 5: Mickey Mouse

  1. Mickey Mouse: ‘Testing … One, Two, Three … Testing.’ – This summer, Mickey – who usually saves his voice for shows and parades – talked and interacted with guests in a way they’d never seen before.
  2. You Look Like Mickey Mouse? – We know you love Mickey Mouse, but do you look like him?
  3. Rare Video of Mickey Mouse Dancing at WDW – Did you see Mickey Mouse surprise guests at Walt Disney World with these unexpected dance moves?
  4. Mickey Mouse Reminds Us to Spring Forward – This 1970 photo shows Mickey Mouse and friends changing the clock on Main Street, U.S.A., in Disneyland park for Daylight Saving Time.
  5. Mickey in the Sand – You never know where you’ll see Mickey Mouse at Disney Parks.

  • When I was 2 my dad brought me to Disney world to see my mom on her business trip there. When I met Mickey, I started screaming and balling my eyes out. I was terrified! Later when someone asked “Jillian, how was Disney world?” I said “I saw Mickey!” with a big smile on my face 🙂 since then I have loved everything Disney and can’t wait until my next trip there!

  • My fondest memory was when I came down from NJ with my father (deceased),mother, brother and cat in our camper. We were one of the first to take a spot in the Fort Wilderness Campground. Our Cat was spotted in our car and a castmember said no pets allowed. I cried so hard, he said what cat and told my father to move along. We had the best time a child could ever have. Both are gone now, but the memories will forever be. Now I take my grandchildren every chance we get as we now live in Florida.

  • I remember walking down Main Street holding my dad’s hand when I was 4 or 5 and suddenly everything was clear to me. I looked up at Daddy and said, “Some day I’m going to live in that castle and go to work every day with Mickey Mouse.” I did end up working at Disney in my 20s so I guess dreams do come true at Walt Disney World. I still love Mickey!

  • Micky’s first cartoon wasn’t Steam boat Willie but one where he fly’s a plane I am pretty sure because I heard it on the Walt Disney show from Walt himself but maybe he was confused.

  • I was 5 when my mom took us to Disneyland and I bugged her the entire time. I wanted to see Mickey but never ran into him until we were about to leave. He looked HUGE. I started to cry but my mom made me take a picture with him. I look petrified!

  • my favorite moment at the Disney park was the opening day. My father was our school band director and our school band was invited to march down main street and play in the gazebo. We also got to stay in the Disney hotel!!! We met Walt Disney….It was an amazing experience which I will never forget..

  • We’ve been going to Disneyland since before I can remember so I don’t know what my FIRST Mickey experience was. However my favorite Mickey Memory comes from when I was about 6 – I believe Mickey was celebrating his 60th Birthday if I remember correctly. We went down to Disneyland to celebrate my birthday and I felt pretty special that Mickey was having his 60th too! They had daily birthday parties for Mickey over where they do the Swing Dancing now I think – we went to one of those and just as Mickey came out I hit my head pretty hard on a table after standing up from picking up something I dropped on the ground. It HURT and I started crying. But in the middle of everyone singing Happy Birthday to him, Mickey came right over to me and picked me up and held me during his Birthday Party to help me feel better. I felt SOOO special. And my head didn’t hurt any more 🙂

  • My mom has always been a huge Disney fan. She says when she found out she was pregnant with my sister and I she knew it was the perfect excuse to have a Mickey Mouse themed bathroom (our bedrooms were later themed after The Little Mermaid). We are all from California, so we’ve been to Disneyland quite a few times. We moved to the east coast in 2000 and made our first trip to Walt Disney World in 2003. We had to get a picture with the mouse! We finally found him at Hollywood Studios (then called MGM Studios). My sister and I said hello and took a picture with him. As we were walking away, my mom suddenly turned around and yelled, “I LOVE YOU, MICKEY!” I can’t remember exactly how Mickey reacted, but I believe he laughed and waved. To this day, it’s one of my families favorite Disney memories!

  • Well, we’ve been Disney fans in my family since before I was born. I’m not sure of my first Mickey memory, but I can remember going to Disneyland at age 4. I’d been before but couldn’t remember because I was so little. I colored a Disneyland coloring book in the car on the way to the park. Getting to see Mickey in person- now that was special!

  • I always liked looking for hidden mickeys.

The ones in the Haunted Mansion and the Adventurers Club were always my favorites

  • I had a Mickey Mouse watch that I absolutely loved. I don’t know when I received it, but I know when I lost it. I was 10 and my family was stationed in Germany. I left it in a locker during swim practice and it was stolen. I was heartbroken. It was never replaced. Maybe I should ask for a new one for Christmas. Maybe I will get one for my daughter instead. That would make both of us happy. It was a simple kid’s model with a red vinyl band if I am not mistaken.
