Several sports celebrities are at Walt Disney World this week to compete against PGA Tour pros in the Children’s Miracle Network Classic golf tournament. But a couple of the sports celebs took time out for some competition of a different kind, playing some fun golf games with some special patients at nearby Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, one of the 170 hospitals that are part of the Children’s Miracle Network of hospitals nationwide.
Chicago White Sox star A.J. Pierzynski and San Francisco Giants player Aaron Rowand, fresh off winning the World Series crown, spent one morning this week with the kids in a Disney-themed area of the hospital, showing the youngsters how to hold a golf club, encouraging them to hit the ball and generally just bringing smiles to their faces. Some of the kids wore Mickey Mouse ears as they tried out their golf skills, while Pierzynski and Rowand seemed to have as much fun as the kids. Here’s a look.
So, who won this fun little competition? Well, judging by all of the smiles and laughter, there weren’t any losers on this day.
