You better believe this was an exciting week for us at Disney Parks. We welcomed the new Disney Dream to the Disney Cruise Line fleet in grand style – in front of thousands of guests and media from all over the world. Presiding over the christening ceremony at Port Canaveral were Disney CEO Bob Iger and Tom Staggs, the chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. If you missed our live webcast, here are some highlights.

Also this week, we shared a first glimpse of the progress being made on New Fantasyland at the Walt Disney World Resort. Our update included details about The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, the Under the Sea: Journey of The Little Mermaid attraction and more.

  • We usually make our reservations early. Our friend is a huge Star Wars fan and want s to be there for the opening weekend of 2011. Hope we can get some dates soon to make our plans.

  • So excited about the Fantasyland expansion, Thomas! Are the utilidoors being expanded as well?

  • Done only in the way Disney can dream about! Stunning!

  • I’m thrilled to hear about The Little Mermaid Ride in the new Fantasyland. Will this ride be similar to the virtual ride on our DVD of the film? Our edition of the DVD has a documentary about “the ride that almost was” as well as the virtual ride which has been a big hit with my kids. Though I think it has made the whole family wish for a real Ariel Ride!

  • I was logged on at 8:30AM MST time and watched the whole thing live it was about an hour long. I loved it! I was seriously in tears loving it! 🙂 Thank you Disney.. just another magical moment in my life I will never forget.

  • I hope that there will soon be a date announced for the opening of Star Tours at Disneyland! 🙂
