Since 2008, a specially installed time-lapse camera has been observing the construction work on Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, in Ko Olinia, Hawai`i. Here’s a recent video that shows how the Resort has been taking shape the past few years.
I think this kind of video is always fun. You may have seen the time-lapse of construction on the original Disneyland park in 1954-55. It’s still on view in the Main Street Opera House at Disneyland.
Aulani is on track to open on August 29. As it draws closer to completion, I’m learning more details about various aspects of the Resort. I’ll share some of those in my next posts.

I love that you used the Cazimero Brothers for the music in this one!
I was just on Oahu and drove out to Ko Olina because I heard they were doing open houses at the Aulani and signed myself up for one. It is just amazing how majestic it looks…and, it’s still under construction. I really want to visit when its complete. I think it will be amazing.
I must say I LOVE video’s like this, to get to see all the progress from the ground up and not have to flip through months of pictures to do so is amazing and fun. I do hope that tucked away somewhere in this upscale disney resort Lilo and Stitch will be waiting to welcome us to their home.
I have to admit, there are places I’ve always wanted to visit, but I’ve opted for a Disney vacation instead. With Aulani, I can finally visit one of those destinations, without losing the Disney touch – I’m eagerly watching the progress!
