“Psst…Ye come seekin’ adventure with salty old pirates, eh? Sure you’ve come to the proper place.”
Pirates fans are in for a double treat this morning. First, a big announcement, then a special video that takes you back to where it all began.
First, the big news…
Disneyland park will make history on May 7 when we host the first-ever 3D outdoor film premiere of “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of America. All of the film’s stars are expected to attend along with many more Hollywood celebrities.
The Walt Disney Company is hosting the gala event and funds raised from ticket sales will go directly to Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of America is to enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
Individual tickets for the premiere event are priced at $1,000 and are now available for purchase at www.piratespremiere.com.
While only invited guests with the proper credentials may attend the film premiere, a limited number of Disneyland park guests may be able to view the “Red Carpet Arrivals” (the carpet is actually going to be black this time!) on Main Street, U.S.A., although, again, viewing capacity will be very limited.
Disneyland Resort park hours have been adjusted on May 7 for this very special event. Disneyland park will open at 7 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. Disney California Adventure park will open at 10 a.m. and close at 11 p.m.
Now, as a special treat, in this swashbuckling video exclusive, Barbossa takes you on a journey from Pirates’ beginnings at Disneyland park, to behind the scenes “on stranger tides.” It’s clear that the attraction that started it all is never far from the filmmakers’ minds.
Walt Disney Pictures’ and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” opens in theaters May 20, 2011, in Disney Digital 3D™ – and for those of you who simply cannot wait, remember, you can “join Jack’s crew” on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights through May 30, and seven nights a week from April 15 through May 1, exclusively at Disneyland park!
“It be too late to alter course now, mateys.”

OMG I want to go so bad!!!!!I can’t afford $1000 I would give anything to see Johnny Depp. WOW!!!!!
Sounds awesome, and I love it when Disneyland gets cool publicity like this!
Will there be a separate line for those guests wanting to see the black carpet? And if so where and how many guests will be let in?
I just bought my tickets and have booked my hotel. Cannot wait! I was able to walk the red carpet for the third premier and glad that I will be able to do it again for the fourth.
How can we get tickets to watch the red/black carpet!? I so want to be there for that
I am so excited for this movie!!! And proud that Disneyland is once again hosting the premiere 🙂
If I go like a normal Disneyland guest, as every other day, I will be able to see the red carpet?
because I bought the tickets to the park without knowing this event was on that day so I want to know…
will it be like years past? bleachers and stuff?
from the FAQs on piratespremiere.com
8. How early can we line up at the gates of the park? What time can we
find our spot behind the barriers of the red carpet?
Disneyland Gates will open at 6:30 am on May 7th, at which time Guests will be able
to line up at the Red Carpet to wait. Space along the Red Carpet is first-come-first-
served and there will be no saving spaces allowed.
The Mickey & Friends Parking Structure will open at 5:30 am on May 7th for Guests
to park if they are arriving early to get in at 7:00am. Guests will not be encouraged to
line up at the Disneyland Main Gate prior to 5:30 am.
We are at the Park all the time! My daughter will be 18 and we’ll be celebrating her 18th birthday! Can’t pay $1000 for each ticket….I hope we can make her Disney wish come true and watch the world premier……
I forgot to mention we made plans to stay at our Timeshare there. We’re DVC members! Disneyland is our home!… That is the best investment we made! We love Disneyland! The staff members, the property, it’s where we escape when we want to be kids! We are blessed with our daughter Nina that’s turning 18 that she still likes being a kid too! So how exciting that they are doing a premier! can’t wait to see all the action!
so cool ive never been to one these star studded events im sooo going!!
QUESTION FOR GEORGE SAWAS: Can you tell us how the park will be impacted the Thursday/Friday BEFORE the premiere? Other blogs are saying that parts of Disneyland will be closed off as the workers set up chairs and the screen, etc. We’ll be there Monday through Thursday that week and so I’d like to know how to plan. If indeed parts are closed off, knowing which and when will help my family enjoy our trip without feeling interrupted by the party plans! We’d want to know ahead of time what to see/do before it’s closed off. Thank you!
For those lucky enough to go…Enjoy! Would love to stay and attend, but not so sure I’d like to be up before dawn to line up. Have fun “mateys”.
@Carol – the post says DL will be closed at 5pm, which means the entire park will be closed at 5pm.
Pirates is soo awesome! i can’t wait to see it! wish i could go to the premier… stupid $1000….
Any reason why my comment isn’t showing up??? Only Johnny Depp knows where it all began for the Pirates movie idea… funny since even she can’t afford $1,000 to attend the premiere, not even an invite to “be our guest” you’d think she’d have a front row seat!!! Not even a thank-you… But she won’t/can’t go back to where it all began, they’ll just have to come & find her… or Disney can always go back to the situation it was in before they came to talk to her… You wrote: “Pirates fans are in for a double treat this morning. First, a big announcement, then a special video that takes you back to where it all began”
Going to that premiere would make all my wildest dreams come true. But of course, money has to sit in the way of making my dreams come true. So either someone rich makes my dream come true, or I lay in bed all day crying, wishing I was there, seeing Johnny Depp.
I will be in Disney on May 5,6,7 how will the premiere effect my visit to Disney and what rides will be closed on those days
Tamara–
During those dates, Star Tours, Splash Mountain, and Gadget’s Go Coaster will be closed at Disneyland. Due to the premiere on May 7th, Disneyland will open at 7:00 am and will close at 5:00 pm.
I can’t think of a more fitting place to host such a powerful movie franchise! Disneyland is the best!!
Can you get in if you have a season pass I have a premier pass im not blocked out. I remember going to the third one but you never know things change…
Guests without the special tickets are allowed to watch the black carpet event, but since the park closes at 5, how does this work? Are you allowed to stay past 5 p.m. to watch the stars and then get kicked out after they all go on to the movie?
Omgosh! I can’t believe I will be there at Disneyland that day and will be unable to attend the premiere! Hopefully some movie stars will come to the park early hehe 😉
omg so awesome! on my birthday!? that would be like the best present ever!! 😀
Hey, I read that even if you do not purchase the $1,000 ticket for the Pirates 4 premiere you can still show up to be on the sidelines of the red carpet, is that true? Do you need a special ticket to do so? Or do you just wait in line all day in order to be on the sides of the red carpet?
If I would like to stay at Disneyland and watch the black carpet, could I arrive early and save spots for some people? Would I just wait on main street the whole day?
