A Look Inside ‘Star Tours – The Adventures Continue’ with Ashley Eckstein and Some Star Wars Friends

Our good friend and former Disney’s Hollywood Studios Cast Member Ashley Eckstein returns today to take us on a quick video tour behind the scenes of “Star Tours – The Adventures Continue.”

Ashley, the voice of Anakin Skywalker’s eager Padawan Ahsoka Tano on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, has had quite a busy and exciting week in the Walt Disney World Resort galaxy. In addition to shooting a series of “Star Tours” sneak peek videos for you and other Disney Parks Blog readers (keep a lookout for the next one, an interview with Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald), on Friday she stood alongside fellow Star Wars celebrities and characters, Star Wars creator George Lucas and Walt Disney Co. president and CEO Bob Iger for the gala Grand Opening Ceremony. Then she began her month-long duties as Celebrity Host of Star Wars Weekends 2011 and prepped for the premiere of the newest designs from her popular “Her Universe” line of Star Wars-themed fangirl fashion (she’s debuting new designs that will be available exclusively for a limited time for Star Wars Weekends Guests).

Let’s join Ashley inside the attraction as she talks about some of the exciting new additions to the Star Tours Spaceport. And look for some cameos by some of your favorite Star Wars characters.

Let us know in the comments if you’ve had a chance to experience the attraction yet or if you have a favorite character or destination in the 3-D adventure! (If you’re wondering, I am quite partial to navigating the ice planet of Hoth and the splash-tastic underwater journey through Naboo with its jump-in-your-seat ending. And I love when Admiral “It’s a trap!” Ackbar beams a transmission into our Starspeeder 1000).

  • I rode Star Tours several times over the weekend in Disneyland. I thought it was awesome. I agree that Hoth and Naboo are probably the best. I actually got to see everything except Coruscant, and on one of the rides my wife was chosen as the Rebel Spy! And I also love all of the tributes to the original ride.

  • I got to ride it last week at a cast preview and yesterday while my friend and I went into Tomorrowland we were surprised that they were open for a soft opening. And we rode it. My friend said this is now her favorite ride. Last wendesday when I was with my cast member friend, I was picked out as the rebel spy. Which since I was so busy looking at the big screen, I didn’t see my pic up on the screen on the right side since my seat was on the far left. There is so much to look at. I think that this ride is so cool and look to riding it again many more times. And I am excited on where I get to go the next time I ride it. Ir was different when I rode it yesterday from last week. That is what is so cool about this. That its different every time you ride it.
Years ago when Star Tours first opened, I said how cool it would be if we could go to different places. And now we have it. Thank you Disney and all the people who worked on this. You have hit one out of the park with this ride. Job well done!! And I love it that CP30 is our driver now. Who knows maybe down the road they can add more places to go.

    • Great feedback. And I also am partial to our favorite, fussy droid piloting the Starspeeder 1000.

  • They were having previews at Disneyland yesterday. I got to ride quite a few times. The ride is awesome! 🙂 I can’t wait to ride again.

  • After 6 rides, Hoth and Naboo were my two favorite scenes, as well — was disappointed that I was never chosen as the rebel spy, though!
Just have to keep on trying I guess! Disney’s taken one of my favorites and made it even better! Thanks!

    • Debra, I think I have to agree with you, Dianne and Trisha. Naboo and Hoth are my favorites so far. But that could change the next time I ride it!

  • I went on Star Tours twice now! Once as a winner of the contest on Friday & then again that afternoon when they had a ‘soft’ opening. The ride is AMAZING! So much fun! I love that it is 3-D now & that there are several different destinations. My favorite was definately Naboo & the spectacular crash ending! SUPER job, Disney!!!

  • Definitely the ice planet of Hoth for sure! Nothing beats seeing those AT-AT walkers!
