Update on Disney California Adventure Park Expansion

With the opening of The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure on June 3 and the completed transformation of Paradise Pier on July 1, big changes keep coming for Disney California Adventure park. Today, Eddie’s back to give you the latest update on the park’s ongoing expansion.

Check out the video below for a behind-the-scenes look at the construction progress in Cars Land, which will open in 2012. Also featured are the many updates coming to the park’s entrance, which will take guests back to 1920s Los Angeles as it appeared when Walt Disney first arrived there.

  • For those asking about when Cars Land might open next year; this is just pure speculation mind you, but I would guess summer 2012 at the earliest.

  • I was at the Parks in March wih my sister and her kids, there was alot of construction going on I cant wait to see i all finished!!! BUT like many others today my BIG question is what is the estimated opening day for Cars Land next year? My Grandson is waiting on pins & needles. I want to plan our trip for April or Maybut want to make sure it is open when we go! Any help from Disney Cast members on this???

  • I agree, thank you so much for the update. Heading down in June to check it out. This is suppose to be our last time as the oldest grandchild is going to be 10. Getting a little pricey for us. Now….. a ton of new stuff starting!!! But yeah!! I am so happy for Disney and new visitors!!

  • @James…there is a story behind that bear. Minnie gave Mickey Duffy when he went away sailing (there is more of a story but I forgot), so now they have made Duffy available at the park for guests to meet and for purchase.

  • If Disney makes a live-action film version of Aladdin, Eddie would be the perfect choice! Great update! Thanks!

  • Duffy is Mickey’s teddy bear. Minnie made Mickey a teddy bear, and named him duffy. 🙂

  • Is there a certain date in 2012 when Cars Land will be finished? We are planning a trip April 30-May 3 so that would be neat if it was open when we get there.

    I’m hoping that the imagineers will get a chance to address the other lingering issues in Paradise Pier, like the Screamin’ queue and the new facades for the midway stores.
