There are so many ways to take a vacation. Families can decide from the beach to skiing, from historical tours to visiting theme parks.
There are also many different kinds of hotel and resort accommodations to choose from. One of my favorite vacation memories is the two nights we spent during the holiday season at a swank, luxurious and very expensive hotel overlooking Boston Common. My daughter was dressed up in her new red velvet coat and we walked to the theater to see the Rockettes’ Christmas show. Of course it was lightly snowing and Beantown was alight with holiday decorations. It was magical.
But for longer vacations, I like to feel like I’m at home. Strange, I know, but we like to rent houses or condos where we can spread out and really relax. TheWalt Disney World Resort has accommodations just like that called our “Deluxe Villas.”
Part of our Disney Vacation Club properties, the number one question Guests ask panelists on the Walt Disney World Moms Panel is if they have to be owners to stay at a Disney Villa. Well the newly crowned “Disney Vacation Club Specialists” Dannée Neal and Beth Choisez are there to tell you a resounding no! Dannée and Beth are Disney Vacation Club owners, however my family’s favorite for years has been Disney’s Old Key West Resort and we are not owners.
Dannée says, “I am most impressed with how the Disney Vacation Club properties offer such spacious, well-decorated villas. We are a family of five and having 2 bathrooms, a balcony and a full-size kitchen allows us to enjoy our stay even more.”
And Beth loves the locations of the Disney Villas. “The Boardwalk, my initial purchase, was a great location when my princesses were in strollers. We could walk or take a boat to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios without getting on a bus!”
There are many Disney Vacation Club Resorts and the newest addition Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa will open later this year in Hawaii!
Like Baloo from the Jungle Book sings, “I couldn’t be fonder of my big home!” Whether you are an owner or not, your family’s Disney “home” awaits you!

We absolutely love our DVC Membership. We use it all the time to stay at the Grand Californian resort. It’s great being able to come back from the parks and have essentially a home to come back to. It’s particularly nice to ride the raft ride, come back to the room, throw your clothes in the wash and then head back out =).
So, not being a DVC member (yet) how does one go about staying at a DVC property when not a member?
We did the DVC sales pitch at WDW in the fall and we are interested — just not right now. We have already planned on putting vacations off until after our new house is built.

I agree with everything Laura mentioned.
We stayed in a few different vacation club offerings before deciding to buy. Once a year, we have a family reunion around the December Holidays and have many people come to Walt Disney World to enjoy each other’s company.
Having multiple bathrooms, and bedrooms where younger (and older!) members can take a nap during the day is very helpful.
It is truly your home away from home.
